Tia's Thread - Fried Chicken Uncensored

You must be wondering why I named this post Fried Chicken. Sona to us taraf kabhi jayegi nehin. I am going to explain, but first a little about my own experience.

I love Fried Chicken. To be more precise, I love Kentucky Fried Chicken. But not only KFC, I love everything that is bad for my health.

Deep fried? Yum...

Dripping butter? Bring it on (slap on some extra butter on top)

Extra creamy and rich Cheesecake? Just let me grab my fork.

So if I could, I would eat them morning, noon and night.

And I did. 

When I came to Canada, I could not boil water and starving is not an option for me. So I took an apartment beside one of the largest Shopping Mall (Chinook Shopping Mall in Calgary). That mall had a KFC in their food court.

I used to get 20 pcs Family Bucket that comes with multiple sides and eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner until the bucket runs out and then will get another bucket. 

Thankfully, I am a moron, but my body is efficient as in got high metabolism rate. Otherwise, I'd have turned into those 400 lbs people you need crane to lift out of the bed. I, on the other hand, was just fine. Other than getting zero nutrition and losing weight due to that, that is.

After marriage, I had to change my diet since my husband likes to be healthy (also he got crappy metabolism rate and gains weight easily) and there was no handy KFC in walking distance to my new home. I don't drive and bus service is not great in Airdrie (North of Calgary) where I moved in.

So for a while, KFC became an occasional guilty pleasure I really, really looked forward to.

When I moved to Toronto, I again had access to KFC in a food court nearby. Eaton Centre is a stone throw distance from my work.

So one day I decided to gorge on the delicious, crispy, juicy Fried Chicken. All that glistening fat seduced me and the smell of deep fried chicken pulled me by my nose to the counter.

I sat down with my three piece combo and inhaled the food in minutes. I doubt I even stopped to breathe.

But then when I finished eating, I had a different experience than before. Instead of feeling super happy after tasty meal, I felt bloated. You know when your tummy feels full of air and heavy and you get very uncomfortable as if your heart is going to leap out of your chest from pressure? Yep, that.

It ruined my guilty pleasure. Being unapologetic foodie, I gave KFC a few more tries. But every time I left feeling crappy. 

So now, I don't eat KFC anymore. The smell and memory of the taste still tempt me and makes my mouth water. But I resist. Because when I have them, I feel crappy. And it's not worth feeling constantly crappy.

Now coming to the point. In the story, Sonakshi is me, Bhaiya is Fried Chicken. 

He might tempt (when away from Mummy and showing manners), but from previous experience Behena knows that how bad he is for her when consumed in daily doses. 

So if she is a smart woman, she will tuck in her temptation and cook up her own version of healthy baked crispy chicken at home (like me and it tasted delicious) and not bother with something that makes her feel shitty about herself. Because NOTHING and NO ONE is worth feeling shitty about yourself.

And if one can't resist and keep Fried Chicken as their daily diet, then well, the real Chicken Little is them because they made the sky fall on their head. Again!!!

Only an idiot will fall for shiny marketing when they had bad experience with the actual product. As in zero after sales service, no guarantee, no customer support and it breaks down when in need. That is a very bad bargain indeed!!!

EPISODE: The episode starts with Dev stopping Sonakshi from leaving. He asks her to sit by him and looks at her.

He says: So many years have passed. I think that we don't talk anymore. We used to talk so much before that I used to think that I got used to remain silent. 

Sonakshi tries to stop him from speaking.

He continues: Now you will say that time is being wasted. But sometimes time should be wasted. Now let me see your face.

Sonakshi: Is there something in my face?

Dev: Smile.

Sonakshi smiles. 

Sonakshi: Now you go to sleep.

Dev: So that you go away again? No. I can't make the same mistake again. I let you go and you went away. Why did I let you go? I am so stupid. 

Sona: If you don't lie down, you will get sick.

Dev: Okay. 

Sonakshi makes him lie down. Dev is still holding her hand. 

Sonakshi tries to remove her hand.

Dev gets up and says: Did you think I went to sleep? I was acting. (He smiles) I just want to see you. You are so beautiful. 

Me: Sonakshi, I know. Right now, Fried Chicken calls in his juicy, tender, crispy self with gooey soft centre. But remember, Fried Chicken comes with over-bloated Mummy. Think of her constipated face and tight lipped smirk combined with ho ho, all ideas of romance will become heck no.

Sonakshi hides her turmoil and asks him to sleep. 

Dev agrees and lies down, closes his eyes and says: But Sonakshi, you are very beautiful. How do you change yourself so much? Sometimes you become rabbit, sometimes you become Cat and that too Dr. Bose. You say that I can't surprise you. But you surprise me everyday. 

Then mumbles something which I didn't get. 

Sonakshi was about to go. Dev again gets up: You were leaving me, naa?

Sonakshi says: No.

Dev: When you go, you don't even make a sound. But I know. You are coming or going. Why I get to know your presence?

Sonakshi stammers: Dev, why did you get up? Didn't you say you will listen to me? You go to sleep.

Dev: No. I can't wait any longer. I have to tell you a lot of things.

Sonakshi: You don't know what you are saying. When you come to know what you said, you will regret it.

Dev: I have thousands of reason to regret. You become my psychiatrist. I want to tell you everything. I have thousands of reasons to regret. 

No. 1, I didn't tell you I love you as many times I should have.

No. 2, I fought with you a lot. 

No. 3 When I should have been looking at you, I got angry with you and turned away. When you were leaving, I didn't stop you. 

Sona: Dev, why are you saying all this? What's the use?

Dev: I am saying that because this is the truth and this truth hurts me a lot. I earned a reputation and fame outside - in my business and my work. But I could not manage my home. I failed, Sonakshi.

Sona: I said it before. This was not just your failure, it was also mine.

Dev: No, the failure was more yours. Who told you to be so good, to take care of everyone? That was your fault that you are perfect. And it was your fault to love a man who could not care for you.

Sona: You are not in your senses.

Dev: I just came to my senses. You taught me to love. And I taught you how to lose it.

Sona: No, Dev. You loved me a lot.

Dev: Love gives a lot of pain. I had so much pain that somedays I thought to go to bed and never get up. I am selfish. I wanted you to feel pain too. So that you can never forget me. Did you think the same? Did you also burn our photograph one day and then develop it the next day to keep a copy to yourself? Did you do it too?

Sona is shocked. 

Me: Yaar, waise Fried Chicken aaj saare senses ko naa hawa de raha hain. Lekin mereko romance under influence se problem hain. Agar yeh Fried Chicken ka brain cell fry nehin hua hota naa, to jyada tasty lagta. Dikhne mein to Fried Chicken tempting hain. Lekin dimaag ka to abhi batti gul hain. Aur Bhaiya ka heart to achhe se function kar hi leta hain. Saara jhol to bas unke dimaag ka hain. Jiska Maata ne bachpan se dhobi pachaad ke dho rakhha hain. 

Dev: This is how people like us end up. Do you see?

Sona: No Dev.

Dev: Can't you forget everything? Can't you forgive me? I got punished for what I did to you. Can't you forgive me and come back to my life? I want another chance. One chance to spend my life with you. I want to make everything right. I am tired of leaving without you. Can't everything become the right again? You, me and Soha and our home? Can't we get back together again? Everything will be just perfect? Can't you love me again?

Sonakshi is silent for a moment.

Sona: Please Dev, don't say this. You also don't want this.

Dev: I never wanted anything in the world more than this. But I had said naa, that you have broken Dev Dixit once, you can't broke him again? The truth is that I never got together. I stayed broken hoping one day you will come back and put me together again. I will teach me to live again. Sonakshi, I still love you very much and I can't live without you. Please come back to me. Please be mine.

Sonakshi looks at him distressed.

Me: You know, Bhaiya. I felt bad for you. I really did. I had once said that you are like Devdas, the original idiot, regardless how much you deny. First you mess up, then you try to fix it, when you can't fix it you go off in a tangent. Unfortunately Devdas never got second chance with Paro. You did and you screwed up again. If you get this chance when you come to your senses, I have no doubt that the moment your mother steps in, you will do palti faster than I can blink.

As I said, your heart doesn't lead you astray. Your brain does. Unfortunately, you listen to your brain more than your heart and the controller for your brain is in your mummy's clutches which she randomly uses to command you to kick Sona's backside and you do it. 

A girl can only rely on you so much when she knows who controls you. Had you been your own person, with your own decision making power (and hadn't already chewed up second chance), then you might have got another shot. 

At Bose house, Saurabh is talking in secret to someone. Ronita overhears. She accuses him of having an affair. 

Saurabh says that he is not having an affair.

Ronita claims that she read all the messages. 

Saurabh laughs and says that he was getting a necklace set for her. That's why he was talking to Kanika who is a jewelry designer and her father has a jeweler's shop.

Ronita becomes very happy and they make up.

Me: This was totally filler but cute. At least this was better filler than Elena behaving like crazy shippers on the internet who makes imaginary couples over their reel life favourites (Media spreading false rumours, I am looking at you). 

Sonakshi comes out and sees Mami. She says: I want to talk to you.

Mami: Why are you talking to me in this tone? 

Sonakshi: Your work didn't get done since the glass broke from my hand.

Mami tries to deny any charges.

Sonakshi doesn't budge: You have to tell me what medicine you mixed in the drink. You have two options. Either you tell me or you can tell Dev what you did.

Mami gets scared. But she still tries to deny.

Sonakshi: I don't want to use the second option because Dev respects you and you are my sister's mother-in-law. But remember if anything happens to Dev, you will have to answer not only to me, but also his mother.

Mami stammers and confesses. She also says that nothing will happen to Dev. He will get better by morning.

Sonakshi is about to go in. Mami asks her not to tell all this to Dev.

Sonakshi: I knew that you never wanted any good to happen to this house and Dev. You haven't changed in seven years. But I have changed. I didn't use to say anything because anything spoken against you was against the respect of this house. But now, neither I am Dev's house, nor daughter-in-law of the family. I am just Soha's mother. So whether I should respect you or not is up to me. And remember, if you ever try to hurt Dev, you will understand how much I have changed. 

Sonakshi goes in leaving Radha trembling.

Me: See? See? That's why I never want her to marry Dev. Because she thinks that if she is Dev's wife, she has to keep her mouth shut and worship Dev's entire family. But as just Sonakshi Bose, she is basing her attitude and respect on the other's action. 

Darling, agar live together karna hain kahin aur, kar lo. Lekin shaadi mat karna. Marriage legal document mein nehin, dimag aur dil mein hota hain. Jo committed hain unke dimag aur dil mein, legal document unke liye important nehin hain. Aur jo committed nehin hain, hazaar legal document bhi unko apni shaadi nibhane ke liye force nehin kar sakte. 

Vicky comes home and Radha vomits her problem along with Sona's threat.

Vicky claims that he will teach Sonakshi a lesson.

Me: Sukh bhare din beete re, kamina...

Ab dukh aayo re.

Katora haathon mein layo re.

Sonakshi is sitting alone and thinks what Dev said. 

She cries: We just started to get to know each other. We decided to trust each other. But you again broke my trust. You have no right to love me, Dev. Whatever came into your heart, you spoke up. You always do the same. Whenever I want to go away from you, you attract me to you. Why? What do I do? Tumi ekdom impossible, Mr. Abhadro. How do I answer your questions? 

Me: Behena, duniya mein naa kuch log aise hain jo simple cheez ko bhi complicated bana dete hain. Have you thought that everything Bhaiya said was under influence and has about as much value while sober as he himself places on them? It's like someone signs a document selling his house for $1 while drunk and you decide to show up next morning to move in. Wait, take rest, get a good sleep and cross the bridge if Bhaiya asks you while sober what he had asked while under influence.

Knowing his tendency to forget and/or ignore all drunken deeds, I doubt he will remember or mention anything. So why fry your brain cells in chicken fat so early? Pehle pata to chale ki chicken halal hua ki nehin? Warna aap ne to taiyari kar li aur chicken apni amma ko anda dene nikal gaya.

Baat yeh nehin ki Bhaiya ne kya bola aur woh kitna reliable hain. Baat yeh hain ki No kehne mein tax nehin lagta. Agar aapko wapas unka liability ka bhandar apne sar pe nehin chahiye, to bas bolo Naa. Behena, Naa ki shakti ko samjho. No means no. To koi roye ya kude, agar aap ko status quo nehin badal na hain aur Bhaiya ko permanant friend zone mein rakhna hain to naa bolo aur naa ko naa hi rehne do.

Dev wakes up next morning with a hangover of sort. He gets a call from Police who tells him that he arranged his meeting with Khatri.

Dev says that he will get Sonakshi and come.

The police seems to be a friend (who is only seen now, but never around in real life). He says: It means you guys got married again.

Dev says: No. We are living together but aren't married.

Police uncle: I didn't get it.

Me: Uncle, isko live together bolte hain. Lekin aap ke liye ek better phrase hain. Samjhau? It's called none of your damn business.

Dev: Actually Sonakshi got Khatri caught. I will tell you in details later.

He hangs up the phone and goes looking for Sonakshi.

Perky Elena comes chirping: Good morning, Dev bhai. 

Dev: Where is Sonakshi?

Elena: She is in garden. Do you need anything? Tea, coffee?

Me: You, out of their business, minding yours, asap.

Dev: No. I just want to talk to her.

Elena is all smiles as if Brangelina announced that they are coming back together. She made some kind of sound byte where she says that Dev bhai was looking for Sonakshi the moment he got up. 

Me: Elena, did you get fired? No, really. You don't have time to find out if Golu had his breakfast and you have time to make sound byte on Dev calling Sonakshi's name? Ladki, itni kadki hain dimaag mein ki jitna minimum brain cells kharch insaan ko karna chahiye, utna kharcha karne ki bhi aukat nehin hain?

So turns out that Elena sent that to Asha (Me: No frigging way. Seriously?). Asha says that Sonakshi asked her not to keep her hopes up. If Elena keeps sending her things like this, then she will get hopeful again.

Elena says that she won't send anything like this again even if she sees it. 

Asha says that no, she should send her things. But not to send her stuff with so much excitement.

Me: #Facepalm. I always thought Asha and Elena have a lot in common. Hence proved. Kaun si Maa apni beti aur uske ex ki kahaani, kisi aur ki zubani sunna chahti hain? Isn't that creepy to the heck?

Imagine if the manager from Shimla hotel was doing this to Ishwari and she wanted to hear that? We will call her creeptastic, won't we? Kam se kam apni rishte ka to lihaaz karo. 

Sonakshi is sitting in the garden when Dev comes looking for her there. 

But hearing her name, she gets up and runs away. 

Dev follows her: Sonakshi, I had been calling you for so long and you are pretending not to hear.

Sonakshi says: I have work to do.

Dev: Okay, we have to go now.

Sonakshi: I can't go anywhere. I have work to do.

Dev insists but Sonakshi refuses.

Dev comes to the room where Sonakshi is working. 

Dev wants to talk but Sonakshi speaks rudely.

Dev wonders what happened today.

Sona looks at him and asks doesn't he remember anything? 

Me: Behena, did you seriously expected him to remember anything? No. Really? He was under influence of drug. So turns out, you had been behaving like a moron for no reason whatsoever. Bhaiya, isn't screwing up your equation. You did with your moronic reaction. Jab uparwala dimaag baat raha tha, aap lagta hain apni mummy aur Elena ke saath kabaddi khel rahee thi. Teeno ek saath miss kar gaye apne quota.

Dev says that he doesn't remember anything. He just remembers coming home, drinking juice and then falling asleep. 

Sona asks again if he doesn't remember anything?

Dev asks what did he say?

Sonakshi refuses to tell. But Dev insists.

Sonakshi tells him what he said.

Bhaiya gets flustered. He denies saying anything of the sort to her.

Sona says that she is not lying. 

Dev says that he doesn't remember anything.

Sona says that she tried to stop him. But he just kept talking. Dev tries to deny some more. But Sonakshi says that she knows that whatever he said were truth.

Sona says that after hearing all that she has decided that they can't spend time together. They have to maintain distance. Because if they get back together again, then they will be back where they started where they can't talk to each other, understand each other. Does he want Soha to see what they have already seen? She can't love him again. She can't come back to his life again.

Dev says that he won't ask for forgiveness because she knows that they were truth. But he agrees with her. After today, whether he is in his senses or not, he will never say anything like this again. 

Dev leaves. 

Sonakshi sits down defeated.

Me: What I don't understand is what was the need to make mountain out of a senseless molehill? And why did it bother you so much Sona what Dev thinks? You have made your decision about your life which he is neither asking you to change (well, out of senses requests count as much as out of senses consent. As in zero), nor he is forcing you to return to his life. So what was the need to behave like someone is holding a knife to your throat and ruin the comfortable relationship you had built for Soha? 

Did you think how awkward it will be from now on having to go through the idiotic arrangement you guys have set up for Soha? You think your this irrational behaviour won't impact your life again?

And Bhaiya. Have you thought for a second why you became so senseless that you started speaking whatever was in your heart? Last time I checked only rotten grape in the form of wine are capable of getting that effect. Regular fruit doesn't have the power to make you lose senses. So why not approach the one who made the juice and practically forced on you, how it was possible for you to go to sleep and not remember what you said or did? Lagta hain jab Sona, Elena aur Asha kabaddi khel rahee thi brain distribution ke time, aap unke opponent team the.

PRECAP: Bhaiya is on a bike in front of Bose house and he got some injury. Sona is scolding him: What was the need to do this?

Me: Looks like as per spoiler, Khatri ko dhoke aaya hain.

Radha brings Ishwari there and shows them to her from the car. She says: The spark that blew up their house last time 8 years ago, it's again taking life.

Ishwari's constipated face gets some more dreading look.

Me: Aa gayee Maata. Hain, aap hi ka intezaar tha. Fried chicken mein kitna dam, ab pata chalega jab talnewali aag mein apna desi mamta dalegi. Ab to Sonakshi tum pakad lo apna raasta. Chalo ho gaya tumhara kaam. Ab no decision needed, kyunki ab to ho gaya decision. 

Kyunki Maata ki toli aayee hain.
