Tia's Thread - Ulti Chaal!!!

There are three kinds of men in the world -

1. Who wants an equal partner

2. One who needs someone to take care of

3. One who needs to be taken care of

There are also the same three kinds of women in the world.

The ideal match, however is for people who want equal partners to marry people who also want equal partner, people who wants to take care of someone to marry people who like to be taken care by someone. It won't work if both want to be a nurturer or both needs nurturing.

The reason Bhaiya was so attached to Maiya is because he needs constant nurturing. Behena has finally figured it out that her wish for an equal partner will never work with Bhaiya.

So a smart person then changes strategy. Now she decided to be the nurturer. That was until now Ishwari's domain. Now the clash will be even more interesting.

The only thing one has to remember when choosing someone who needs constant nurturing is that every single battle they have to fight alone. Because the person who needs nurturing will never be there as equal partner.

Episode: The episode starts with Bhaiya coming to Khatri and asking him about the family. Khatri refuses to open his mouth and says that he will never say anything and his mother will die with this burden of guilt in her chest.

So Bhaiya does what he does best. He starts beating up Khatri.

Prakash, the hot inspector pulls him off and says that he will get him into trouble. He asks him to bring Sonakshi because he thinks only her can make Khatri talk.

Me: Lo bolo, Bhaiya ka to reputation aisa hain ki unke so-called friends ne bhi keh diya ke agli baar apni Nanny ko saath le kar aana. Kyunki yeh maal bina parental guidance ke public mein allowed nehin hain.

(Go figure. Even Bhaiya's so called friend has said to bring his Nanny with him next time. Such is Bhaiya's reputation. His kind isn't allowed in public without parental guidance).

Asha is looking at Dev and Sona's wedding picture and says that she doesn't what is going on. When she thinks that everything is going to be fine, she gets scared. Daughter's home got settled and then got broken. A mother will feel scared. She just prays that whatever happens, happens for the best. Whatever decision Dev and Sona take, they take the right decision and be happy always.

Me: Do you know Asha why you are scared? Because despite what you just said now about Dev and Sona taking right decision, you actually think you know what is the right decision and you are worried that they won't take that particular decision.

Because if you just wanted them to be happy, then regardless what decision they take, it won't affect you as long as they are happy with that decision. But you want them together and that's what will make you happy and you also realize that you don't have any control over what decision they take and that's making you worry.

You see, people don't worry when they are confident that no matter what decision their children take, they are happy for them. As in if someone doesn't care whether their child chooses between Medical and Engineering because in their mind both decisions are right and equally sound, they don't worry for their kids then. So whatever makes their children happy, they are fine with it.

But people worry when one of the decision is not acceptable to them because then they fear that their children might choose something they don't want themto choose. Like Medical and Fine Arts. That's when worry comes in because parents want their children to take one decision more than the other and hence worry that their children may not choose what they want them to choose.

So do you understand why you are worried for your daughter, Asha? You really want her to be happy in what makes you happy. Otherwise you won't be worried.

Anyways, Bhaiya comes home and Suhana is drawing in the living room. She sees Dev and goes to him. She sees his bruised knuckles and despite his protests, she runs and gets first aid box and does his first aid.

Dev is impressed that Suhana knows first aid too.

Me: Of course she does. Sonakshi ki Beti hain. Emergency mein kya kya karna padta hain dimaag ko thanda rakh ke, woh saari training uski Maa ne di hogi. Apki Maa Ki Tarah apni beti ko useless nehin bajayi hain naa.

(She is Sonakshi's daughter. So she must have trained her in how to deal with emergencies with a calm head. She didn't make her daughter useless like your mother, naa).

Bhaiya asks Suhana where is Mummy. Not his, Suhaana's. But in emergency and screw ups, any Mummy will do.

Suhaana says that her mother went to office and had said that she will go see Asha on the way back.

Bhaiya then went to find his child minder.

Me: Bhaiya is permanent kid. First he screws up and then goes looking for Mummy. This time Soha's Mummy kyunki apni Mummy ki screw ups solve karne unhi ke paas nehin jaa sakte naa.

(Because to fix one's own mother's screw ups, you can't go to her naa).

Anyhoo, Radha is bringing Ishwari home on their broomstick. Sorry car.

Radha is doing her best to poison the already cesspool of Ishwari's mind.

Me: All I heard was,

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

But then, it doesn't take much to poison Ishwari's venomous mind. Vaishnav Devi ka abhi tak vertigo bhi nehin utra aur wapas paap shuru.

(Didn't even get over vertigo from Vaishnav Devi and already started her new sins).

Anyhoo, Sonakshi comes out of her home and sees Bhaiya is sitting on his bike

At first she thinks that he came to talk about last night. But one look at his eyes and sheepish expression makes her realize that this is a new jhol (deed) that he did.

She says: I have seen that look before. What did you do? Did you do something wrong?

Then she notices Bhaiya's knuckle which Suhana has wrapped up. She asks: What happened? Whom did he beat up?

Bhaiya says like a kid confessing his screw ups even though he doesn't want to confess: Khatri. (Then in defense mode of classic he did it first) I asked Prakash to arrange a meeting with Khatri. I thought he will tell me everything. But he...

Sona: So you beat him up?

Bhaiya in defense (again classic it's someone else's fault): Don't say it like this. It's all your fault.

Sona (bug eyed): My fault? Oh yes, I went and punched him.

Bhaiya still sulking: No, I punched him. But I won't have done it had you been there to keep me on leash. Prakash said the same thing.

Me: Of course he did. Because he knows that some people can't be trusted in public without a leash like some rabid dogs or demented man with zero sense.

Sona: Of course he did. Because he knows that you are mad.

Dev: You don't have to talk like this to me. This is only your fault.

Sona: You went and beat someone and blaming me?

Me: Haan to Behena, is mein naya kya hain? Har Dixits ke liye saari blame hamesha aap hi pe to thopne ka standard hain. Sab hamesha aapki hi to galti hoti hain. Credit mile naa mile, blame saari aap hi ke sar. Agar uss taraf jaana hain naa, to It's all my fault apne haath pe aur dimaag mein tattoo karwalo.

(So what's new in that? Every Dixits always blame everything on you. Everything is always your fault. You may or may not get credit, but the blame is always yours. If you ever want to turn that way, then tattoo It's my fault on your arm and in your brain).

Dev: Who else is there to blame? Everything is your fault.

Me: Umm... How about taking responsibility of your own actions for once on your own self, Bhaiya? But I forget. That's against Dixit tradition.

Sonakshi: I can't believe you. (Me: Haila, still?)

Bhaiya scrambles to get some more excuses: I am Suhaana's father. So it's your responsibility as Suhaana's mother to keep me out of my mess.

Sonakshi: Seriously?

Bhaiya: What else? We had decided naa that we will do what is best for Suhana. Is it good for her that her father goes fighting with people and get angry? So you should keep me on leash.

Sonakshi: Tumi ekdom impossible. Who gives reasons like this? Ok. I admit, I don't have one, but two child. Even Suhana is not as stubborn as you are. What was the need for all this? Show me. (She holds his hands and checks his face for injury) It got swollen.

Me: You know what is the weirdest thing in all this? Ishwari wants to be Dev's sathi as in partner which generally is a position for a life partner as in wife, and Sonakshi today agreed to keep Dev out of trouble by accepting him as her second child and hence her responsibility which is a mother's job.

This is an eff-ed up situation where the mother wants to occupy a wife's space and the wife wants to occupy a mother's space. Unfortunately decency and human civilization doesn't allow swapping space between wife and mother.

But honestly, Kuch Rang Eff-ed Up Relationships Ke Aise Bhi.

Anyhoo, while Sona was checking Dev's injury, Radha and Ishwari see them. Radha instigates Ishwari and her constipated face returns.

They come home and Radha keeps blaming Sonakshi. But Ishwari says that Dev is suffering due to her crime (she meant theft. Because ruining her son's married life was not crime enough).

Radha is shocked to see Ishwari taking any accountability for any of her actions without following their tradition of blaming Sonakshi.

Ishwari then goes to her room and prays in front of God that "that woman" is again trying to ruin her son's life. God can't punish her son for her crimes. She prays for her son to get rid of the trouble called Sonakshi minus Soha because well, she is waris.

Me: I am not at all surprised by this. Ishwari is back to her role. However, today two mothers are worried - Asha and Ishwari.

Each wants a different outcome. But the reason of their worry is the same. Because each of them wants their children to take a particular decision and both are worried that their children might choose the less desirable decision.

Had both only wanted their children's happiness, then they would have been happy with whatever their children decide (like Dev marrying or breaking off with Natasha made no difference to Ishwari because since Natasha didn't matter, whether Dev married her or not, didn't make her worry even once).

But each wants their children to take the decision they want them to take. Hence the worry.

Anyways, Suhana comes there. Ishwari hugs her. Suhana says that she missed her. Ishwari says that she missed her too.

Suhana asks why did she come so late? They are leaving for her mother's home today.

Ishwari doesn't want her to go.

Me: Funny isn't it? Ishwari doesn't want Soha to go and doesn't want her mother around. I wonder if she for even a moment stops to think how she would feel if Sonakshi had said to Dev that she wants to be his wife, but she doesn't want his mother around? But then that will require someone to have empathy for someone else which Ishwari doesn't have for anyone. Not even for her own son.

Back in front of Bose house, Sonakshi says: Why do you do things like this that makes me scold you?

Dev: You can just scold me. If I do something you scold me, if I do nothing you scold me. You just keep scolding me all the time.

Me: Haila!!! Deja vu. Maine yeh scene real life mein dekhi hain. Lekin character the meri cousin sister aur uska 5 years old son.

(I have seen this scene in real life before. But the characters were my cousin sister and her 5 years old son)

Anyhoo, Dev gets a call from the inspector. Sonakshi snatches the phone from him and apologizes to Prakash for Dev's behaviour (just like a parent does) and also requests another meeting with Khatri. She also suggests to get a warrant to search Khatri's house for clues.

Bhaiya is impressed.

Sona hangs up the phone to see Bhaiya's impressed face. She asks: Why are you looking at me like this?

Bhaiya: You said sorry for me from Prakash. That was so...

Sona: Sweet of me?

Bhaiya: Yes. But why didn't I think of it?

Sona: Because to think you need to use your brain, but you only use your hands.

Bhaiya: I didn't know some works can get done like this.

Sona: If you keep ego and fighting aside, then everything can get done. That's how it works.

Bhaiya: You mean that's how we work.

They look at each other.

Bhaiya: What happened?

Sona: When you start living with me, you will learn everything.

Bhaiya jokingly puts his hands together and Sona jokingly makes gesture as if giving blessings.

Me: Now look up at the introduction. Sonakshi until now expecting Bhaiya to be her equal partner and to stand by her as in type 1. But Bhaiya was always Type 3 who needs constant nurturing. It's like being married to a teenager.

Now some women like to take care of people. They are perfect for these men.

But if someone wants an equal partner, they will only feel let down by these men because they need constant maintenance.

Sonakshi has finally figured out the strategy to deal with Bhaiya. In their relationship, there is only one adult. And that's her. So as long as she never thinks and expects adult like accountability, responsibility and behaviour from Bhaiya, she is good as golden.

Anyhoo, Dev and Sona come home. Ishwari sees them coming home together and makes constipated face while Radha instigates her.

Suhana comes running to her father. She asks her mother when is she going to her house.

Sona asks her when she's like to go.

Suhana says in the evening.

Sona agrees and pinches her cheek going around Dev since she is in his lap.

Ishwari's constipated face goes white as if she saw Yamraaj (God of death) approaching her with a bloody axe.

Me: I loved that look on her face. I am so sadist, I know. 😂

At Bose house, Asha notices that smoke coming out of the kitchen. She goes in and sees Saurabh and Ronita are fighting over who will cook Sona's favourite dish. Asha says that she will cook for Sona. They all fight until they decide to ask Sona.

Me: That was absolutely adorable scene. Every Bose family member are very comfortable with each other and their own position so they can argue, fight, bicker like a real family. Because in real family we know that no matter how much we fight, we are always loved.

Asha calls Sona. Sona says that she is thinking of staying back for 7 more days to give Soha time with Ishwari. Asha readily agrees (That's exactly what she wanted).

Ishwari overhears. Sona sees her and smiles as if she did her a favour. But Ishwari looked as if Sonakshi asked for her kidney.

Soha tells stories of her parents'anniversary celebration and Ishwari looks like Sonakshi asked for both her kidney and liver.

Sonakshi comes to everyone and announces that they are staying back for 7 more days. Everyone is happy except Ishwari and Radha who look as if Yamraaj was shining his bloody axe in their backyard while eyeing their neck.

Me: However, who gave Sonakshi the right to announce decision to stay back in Dixit house? She should have asked for Ishwari or Dev's permission and their wish before trying to win brownie points by doing unwanted favours. She thinks that she did them a favour. But first she needs to ask if they want the said favour or not. She should have asked them if they want to stay back before announcing arrogantly that they are staying back. This is not her home. She is a guest here, regardless what attitude Dev shows.

I didn't like Sonakshi's high handed attitude at all.

At Bose house, Asha announced that Sona and Soha aren't coming so Saurabh gets upset and ditches the apron and walks away.

Ronita and Asha laugh.

Me: Again, Sonakshi didn't give a damn about her own family who were looking forward to have her and Soha home. Well, except Asha who hopes she never returns. She is forcing her unwanted favours on one family who doesn't want her around and isn't being fair to her own family who were eagerly waiting for her. It's true that people chase those who don't care about them, but take for granted the people who love them. Dev chases Ishwari and takes Sona for granted and Sona chases Ishwari and Dev and take her family for granted. Even Soha chases Dev and Ishwari and take her mother for granted these days.

Precap: The opening scene of next day where Sonakshi and Dev talking and Ishwari eavesdropping

Me *Snort*: Us mein naya kya hain?

No rules!!! Yay!!!

  2. Spot on Tia ! They say that with time, your relationships evolve and priorities change . But Sonakshi will have 'Dev ko sambhalna' as her top most and life long priority . If she is up for it , then I don't have a problem.
And I wonder how long we will have to wait to see Dev really standing up for Sonakshi. And by that I don't mean Dev unnecessarily getting involved in her ghar ka problems . Just one realistic situation where he stands up for her , no conditions attached. Pata nahi Dev Bhaiyya ka asli acid test kab aayega !

    3. Yes even I want a scene where in dev openly stands by sona. Without any explanation or anything and not even wanting one from sona. He should just do it as life partner.

    4. We are all hoping for Bhaiya to stand up and be his own person for a very long time. But considering his new found reason to worship Maata, this is not looking likely. 😕

    1. I hope so too. Gentle, considerate Sona won't work with Bhaiya and Maiya. They need hunterwali. Sona needs to be hunterwali this season. She has Soha to consider now. Mistake ka koi options nehin hain ab.

  5. Humm you are right I guess sona just now understood the basic nature of dev. She understands something now that we all have been calling dev that on some level when it comes to relationships he is still a kid. It might be because eshwari never allowed him to grow. Even his relationship with his sisters where through a bridge called his mother. And when sona came into his life he was unable to handle the direct give and take. Guess this sona version 2 just learned how to handle this mammas boy after bringing up a kid herself.

    1. I know, right? Sonakshi kept hoping for a equal partner from one who needed constant nurturing. She has finally figured out that she has to be Ishwari to handle Dev.

  6. Hi Tia,

    Mena here, remember me :)

Looking at Sona, I doubt she would choose to stay away from bhaiya. You see both Bhaiya and Didi have the same problem, both known the reality but still never choose to do the right thing. Bhaiya about mata and Sonakshi about Bhaiya. So at the end they will end up together.
