Tia's Thread - Twilight Zone!!!

Have you ever been in a situation when everything feels weird as if you are in a strange dream?

Have you been in a situation where nothing makes sense and you are trying to grasp what is real and what is fake?

Have you been in a situation where you are feeling restless and anxious, but you don't know why?

Well, that was exactly how I am feeling with the current episode.

It seems fine from where I stand and may be I'd have enjoyed them if I started to watch the show from today.

But because I am an avid reader, it bugs me when a story seem disjointed. It makes me feel uncomfortable and I find it very irritating to have a story that changed suddenly in a way that makes no sense whatsoever.

I am feeling exactly like that about the show. The changes that was shown in the character were so abrupt that it seemed that someone has replaced Ishwari with Shailaja from Sasural Genda Phool.

I'd have swallowed it if the change in her personality occurred right after Ishwari found out about the favour Sona did on her. But she was still not completely sold on her and wasn't even pleased when Dev proposed to invite them for dinner.

Then what happened from then until now to have such a drastic change in attitude.

When something like this happens in a story, it usually indicates some big game plan that is being planned in the background and the person is lulling everyone into a false sense of security.

You know, like it happened back when Ishwari was saccharine sweet when she came begging for Sona.

So how do we viewer know that this is not the same case here?

We don't. And if I was Sona, I won't know either.

Also, that brings me back to Bhaiya's abrupt generosity to confess all crimes. Did it happen because Sona did him a favour so he thought he will graciously accept everything that has gone on until now or did it happen because he is genuinely enlightened?

Who could tell? Not me.

Would Bhaiya and Maiya have accepted or even bothered with Sona if she didn't have Soha?

I don't believe so.

Then what value does Sona, as a woman, have for them? None.

Then what kind of love story it is?

Well, then why would any woman stake their life on this family?

I won't. But then I learn from my mistakes. But of course, Sona would. Because if women started refusing to go back to a family where they are not valued, how would patriarchal system survive?

Aren't women with no self-respect and low confidence the backbone of patriarchy?

That's why mothers like Asha are saints. Because they are the ones who convince their daughters to endure and maintain the status quo.

And that's why fathers like Bijoy are villains. Because they are the ones who want equality to thrive regardless of gender.

For patriarchy to thrive, we need more Ashas and no Bijoys.

Because the day we have a Bijoy in every home, the society will become equal to all genders. Then where would the chauvinists and sexists go?

But strangely, we live in such a Twilight Zone where a man is accused for protecting his daughter while a woman is justified for not being able to tolerate her son's happiness if it came from another woman.

EPISODE: The episode starts with everyone gathered around the kids in the candle light.

Soha suggests that they should play game like her mother, Mama and Elena used to play.

Sonakshi says: There was nothing else to do then. Isn't it, Dada?

Saurabh: Yes, but only these two used to have fun because I always used to get caught in hide and seek.

Bhaiya: What an idea, Saurabh. Hide and seek?

Ronita: Yes, Jiju. This is my favourite game too.

Bhaiya: Shall we play now?

Me: Bhai wah!!! Dimaag ki dukan. Andhere mein hide and seek. Abey board game ka naam nehin suna kya? Monopoly, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders etc.? Lagta hain Bhaiya ki koi aur hi khichdi chal rahee hain.

(Wow, brainiac. Hide and seek in the dark? Have they never heard of board games? Monopoly, Ludo, Snakes and Ladders etc.? Methinks Bhaiya is cooking some other idea now)

The kids of course are all over the idea.

Ishwari laughs but says: What kind of ideas are you coming up with? What if the kids fall down and get hurt?

Me: I never thought I will say this. But Maata is right. It's a bad idea.

But of course Behena says: It will be fun, auntyji. You also should play.

Bhaiya says: Yes, Maa. We got a chance to play after such a long time. You play too.

The kids then screams to convince Ishwari.

She of course has to agree. But she points to Bhaiya and Behena: You two have also become like these two.

Bhaiya and Behena laugh.

Me: Aww... Cho chweet. Lekin Jatin Bhaiya kitthe? Kisiko kuch padi bhi hain ki kahan bhag gaye? Behena to permanantly super glued hain Bhaiya ke side mein. Wahan se to hilegi nehin. Kam se kam Bijoy hi dekh leta ki kahan gaya uska doosra beta.

(But where is Jatin Bhaiya? Does anyone even care where he ran off? Behena is permanently super glued beside Bhaiya. So she is not going to budge. At least Bijoy could check where his second son went)

Bhaiya asks Ishwari to be "It" first.

Ishwari protests, but the kids convince her.

Ishwari finally agrees. She asks everyone to hide.

Ishwari starts counting.

Everyone hides.

Bhaiya says that she just needs to find three people.

Ishwari thinks that makes it easy.

So of course, Behena hops in beside Bhaiya.

Me: See? What did I say? Chipku maal... Sab kuch Soha ke liye, lekin chipakna hain ek doosre ke gale.

(Sticky material. Everything is for Soha. But when it comes to stick, then they stick to each other like fly and honey paper)...

So Ishwari first bumps into Bijoy in the dark and screams.

Bijoy says: Why did you scream? Did you see a dinosour?

Asha and Sona see them and laugh to themselves.

Ishwari stammers: I thought it was a ghost.

Bijoy says: What? You thought I was ghost?

Asha says from her hiding place: Yes.

Ishwari laughs.

Bijoy says: Asha, I know you said it. Wait, until light comes back.

Radha is busy on phone urging her prospective key to Dev's locker to come soon.

She then slowly walks to the wall and Vicky is hiding behind it. She gets shocked to see Vicky there.

Vicky asks who is she calling? Who is she waiting for?

Radha doesn't say anything.

Me: Now now, CVs. Aap logon ne Bijoy ko bhoot bana diya. Ab inko dekho. Lagte hain naa chudail ki toli?

(You made Asha call Bijoy a ghost. Now look at these two. Don't they look like witch's coven?)

Behena suggests Bhaiya: We will get caught there. So we should go to the garden. Let's go.

Bhaiya: Okay.

Me: Ab Behena itna ghooma phirake bolne ki kya jaroorat hain. Ainvayee bol deti ki akele mein chalo. Bhaiya to waise bhi hamesha ek taang pe ready rehte hain ki aap awaz dengi aur woh aapke gale se wapas latak jayenge.

(Now what was the need to twist the matter so much? You could just ask him to meet you alone. Bhaiya is as it is always ready that you will give a call and he will happily become your liability once again)

So Behena is walking like LLTT (Looking London, Talking Tokyo) in the garden and lo and behold, she trips over her swing and is about to scream when Bhaiya closes her mouth.

Ishwari hears sound and sees Bhaiya and Behena.

Bhaiya makes Behena sit in the swing.

Ishwari smiles huge.

Me: Haan, ab to kuch bhi possible hain. Pehele ki baat hoti to Ishwari ki ho ho abhi shuru ho jaata jaise tab hua tha jab Sona ki pair jali thi Diwali mein.

(Yes, now anything is possible. Had it been like before, then her ho ho music would have started like it did when Sonakshi burned her feet in Diwali).

Bhaiya takes off Behena's shoe: It was your brilliant idea to come to the garden. Now you know how much it hurts when you bump into it. I have at least bumped 10-12 times on it.

Behena: You never liked this swing.

Bhaiya: No, that's not it. I liked it.

Behena makes face as if really?

Bhaiya: You got this swing, otherwise I would have thrown it out a long time ago.

Then he thinks that now is the time. Let's stare some more. So he stares.

Me: Yep. Elena says that she singlehandedly protected the swing from being thrown out (thank you for reminding me in the comment yesterday), you say you rescued the swing. Between the two of you, the swing was well-protected and stayed firm and unchanged. Too bad, none of you thought of protecting Sona's self-respect and dignity with as much zeal.

Behena asks: Why are you staring like that?

Bhaiya: Must there be a reason to stare? I am just looking...

Me: Umm... Yes. Are you taking Soha's DNA sample from her mother through your eyes? Because otherwise I don't know what are you achieving for Soha by staring at her mother. Didn't you say that everything you do, is for Soha only?

Radha sees them and whispers: Stare at each other as much as you want. Because ex-GKB has put a stop on you two love birds. Only a few minutes more. Your full stop is on the way.

Me: And your full stop in Dixit house's permanent stay is also on the way. I am really looking forward to that.

Bhaiya is massaging Behena's feet. Behena says: Dev, can I say something?

Bhaiya says: Yes.

Behena says: Thank you for today.

Bhaiya says: If my mother hears that you are thanking me, she will pull your ears. Right now, only I should say thank you to you. You shouldn't say it.

Behena rolls her eyes. But says: Dev, can I say one more thing?

Bhaiya says: Yes.

Behena: I like this.

Bhaiya: You like what?

Behena: I mean we are not trying to hurt each other. We are talking to each other. Like good friends.

Bhaiya: Not like good friends. Very good friends. Best friends.

Behena smiles: Can I say something else?

Bhaiya laughs: Yes.

Behena: You have changed. I mean there is something in you that changed.

Bhaiya: What do you mean changed. Do you like it?

Behena: I like it very much.

Bhaiya shrugs: Then good.

Behena smiles: Dev, I am fine.

Bhaiya is still massaging.

Behena: Dev, I am fine.

Bhaiya finally let's go off her feet.

Me: Reminds me of Pepe Le Pew.

He gently tries to put her shoe on her.

Behena decides to put it herself.

Ishwari is still standing and watching them with big smile.

Bhaiya gives his hand to Behena to get her up.

Behena puts her hand on his and gets up.

Ishwari is in same position with the same expression.

Behena again: Can I ask something?

Bhaiya is exasperated: What is this you constantly asking can I ask, can I ask? Ask.

Me: Me too, Bhaiya. Me too. Behena, ab ugal hi do. Aap yahan twenty questions khel rahe ho kya?

Behena: I was going to ask that your and mine...

Bhaiya's manma laddoo phooting: Yes, say it Sonakshi.

Whole fandom: Bolo, Sona didi, bolo.

Behena: How come your hair is shinier than me?

Bhaiya: What?

Whole fandom: What?

Behena: Yes, what conditioner do you use?

Bhaiya: What is this?

Behena: Why? Best friends talk like that. Tell me naa.

Bhaiya mentally face palms.

Maata is still staring.

Me: WTF? Dekha Bhaiya? Maine kahan tha naa ki ladkiyon jaise baal banaoge to ladkiyon jaise sawal hi karegi. Aise sawal pata hain kaise best friends karte hain? Jab do ladkiyan best friends hoti hain tab. To hint ko samjho aur crew cut karwa lo. Warna agli baar choti banane ki demand karegi.

(See Bhaiya? Didn't I say that when you have hair like girls, you will get girly questions. Do you know who questions like this? When two girls are best friends. So get the hint and get a crew cut. Or next time she will ask to braid your wavy locks.)

Suddenly Golu and Soha come running to Ishwari and start shouting.

Behena and Bhaiya notice Ishwari and all laughter disappear.

Me: Doodh ke jale. Chanch hazam nehin ho rahee hain.

(They have been burnt too many times. That's why they can's get comfortable around her)

Bhaiya says: Maa?

Ishwari doesn't respond. Just kisses the kids.

Just then electricity returns.

The kids get happy.

Bhaiya and Behena are still in awkward mode.

Mamaji tells everyone to come out.

Bhaiya agrees.

Ishwari asks Golu, where is his parents? Go get them.

Sona says that they must be thinking that the game is still on. She will check.

Me: Lo. Phir se super jasoos shuru ho gayee. Abey kisi aur ko nehin bhej sakte? Chup chap baith naa. Apne best friend ko apne ex-sasural mein ghuma diya. Ab chali hain apni nalayak behen aur ex-devar ko dhoond unhi ke ghar mein. Seriously?

(There she goes again. You can't sit still? They can't send someone else? You lost your best friend in your ex-in-law's home and now you are off to find your useless cousin and idiot ex-bro-in-law in their own home)

Mamaji asks Radha why is she staring at the door? Who is she waiting for.

Radha makes some excuses. But Mamaji doesn't believe them.

Vicky is as usual fighting with Elena. He says that they are fighting because of her family. Elena calls him selfish and defends her family.

Vicky asks what does she want.

Elena suddenly gets silent.

Vicky turns around and who is standing there? Yes, our jack-of-all-trades - Sona.

Me: Normal people turns away when they hear people fighting with loud voice. But not her. She eavesdrops openly.

Sona says to Elena: I am sorry. Auntyji asked me to call you.

Elena says: Why are you saying sorry? Actually I wanted to tell you...

Vicky says to Elena: This is exactly what I have problem with. What you said just now.

Elena: What did I say?

Vicky: Why don't you understand? Somethings should remain between us. If some outsider comes between us and interfere then I won't be able to tolerate. You will go out and tell people about us and what will happen? They will just give their expert comments.

Elena: Vicky, she is my sister.

Sona cuts in: Elena, Vicky is right.

Elena: Sona, if I am sharing with you, then what's wrong with that? You are my family, right?

Sona: Yes, I am your family. But you should have a personal space between you. If you tell everything to me or someone else, then Vicky will think ten times before sharing anything with you and this is not a healthy relationship. You two are husband and wife. No matter who wins the argument, but no one should lose between you two. I couldn't do this. But you two can do it.

Me: The advice is good, Behena. But you should work on your listening skills. That's exactly the expert comment Vicky said he doesn't want to hear. But because you are super woman and wonder woman hybrid, you will preach whether anyone wants to hear it or not. You and Elena both got it from Asha.

Everyone is still on the starters in the living room. Ishwari serves Asha. She says that it's enough.

Ishwari laughingly says that she didn't even eat enough. Did her daughter keep her on diet?

Dida says why would Asha diet? She is always fit since my son keeps her running all day.

Bijoy says that everything always comes back to him.

Ishwari and everyone laughs.

Radha is looking at the door.

Ishwari asks Saurabh to take some more.

Saurabh says that if he eats more than he won't be able to have dinner.

Bhaiya says who was saying he is hungry outside? Now suffer.

Ishwari agrees: Yes, I will serve you myself.

Just then a lady comes with a girl.

Me: Hain? This is Mami's choice? It sucks as much as her fashion sense. Even Shruti was better than this.

Radha is suddenly energetic. She says that she called some friends. She goes to greet them.

Everyone wonders who they are. But they greet them.

Radha says that they are her friend, Kalpana and her daughter, Aarti.

Radha says to Aarti: What a beauty.

Me: Get a pair of glasses to Mami. Methinks she is losing her eye sight in old age.

Radha points out to Dev to Aarti. Then she introduces Vicky as her son and everyone else as guests.

Mamaji responds that he works here. He is employed by her. He is called her husband.

The mother and daughter duo laugh and so do Sona and Elena.

Radha then introduces Ishwari.

The mother gushes: Who doesn't know you and your son?

Ishwari smiles and then asks Jassi to bring two more plates.

The mother says there's no need.

But Ishwari insists.

Ishwari then calls Radha aside.

They go to the kitchen.

Radha says that she has done everything already. What can she do?

Me: Hain? What does she do in the kitchen anyway other than asking for service? Drama queen.

Ishwari asks who are they?

Radha says that she forgot already? She did it on her saying.

Ishwari wonders what did she say?

Radha says that she has asked her to find a girl for Dev. So she found her. Dev will get married again. There will be wedding band again. Then there will be little little...

Ishwari is shocked. She says: Bhabhi. The heir to this house is playing outside.

Radha: Then more kids will play.

Ishwari: Bhabhi? You should not have call them like this. I mean, wedding talks should not happen so fast.

Radha: I thought you said that you trust me. You said you will take every decision after talking to me. Okay. You must have changed your decision. May be you have some other girl in mind for Dev. If there is, then tell me. Is there anyone?

Ishwari feels uncomfortable: No, there is no other girl in my mind for Dev. I mean, Dev needs a girl who understands him, understand this house. A girl who not only love this home but also loves the children of this house very much.

Radha: I understand. You are worried for Suhana, no? Why are you worried? You just talk to her once. That's why I called her. Suhana can meet her too. After all, she is going to be Suhana's mother.

Me: Suhana's real mummy will murder you first. If not her, then there's Suhana's real grandpa.

Ishwari looks at her worried.

Radha continues: I understand. You have been burnt already. So you are careful. And that Bangalan, the way she left the house, not only you, everyone will be afraid of her. And this is also true if you hadn't rejected the first proposal I brought, then this Bangalan won't have been in this house.

Ishwari says: Sonakshi.

Radha is shocked.

Ishwari: Her name is Sonakshi. I can breath openly today because of her. She has given me new life. May be it was meant for my sin to get washed away by her.

Radha: Sometimes even Devil does something good. We have to fix our son't life ourselves, naa? I will go and see the table.

Ishwari calls her back. She says: It would be better if you don't say anything about Dev's marriage in front of these people.

Radha: Why? Why shouldn't I say?

Ishwari: Because I am saying it. Sonakshi has got her whole family here because I said it. I don't want any of them feel bad about anything.

Radha: Okay. I will just say that...

Ishwari just walks away.

Bhaiya sees all this and smiles huge from outside.

Me: First time in forever, I feel like cheering Maata.

Agar itni akal first season mein aati, to bey CVs tera kya jaata?

(If she had got this much brain in first season, then what would have you lost CVs?)

Ishwari is setting table. Bhaiya takes her away despite her protest that she has lots to do.

He takes her in the garden. Ishwari thinks that he wants to arrange for food there.

Bhaiya says that it was not what he wanted to say.

He confesses that he heard them speaking.

Ishwari tries to defend herself.

Bhaiya says that he heard that Mami was speaking bad for Sonakshi and you scolded her. She took Sonakshi's side.

Ishwari: What else could I have done? Bhabhi is still stuck on the past. But I...

Bhaiya asks: So what Maa? Tell me. Do you really believe in everything you said about Sonakshi?

Ishwari: Yes, Dev.

Bhaiya is happy.

Ishwari: Sometimes even jeweller can't recognise diamond. And I was just your mother and will always remain that. Sonakshi and my relationship were always strained. But still that child forgot all bad feelings and sad memories did so much for me. If I can't even recognise this, then what? Everything is in front of me, Dev?

Bhaiya: Did you know how many places I roamed and met so many people. I slowly understood one thing. People who come into our lives, don't just come by chance. They come for a purpose, a reason. When Sonakshi came into my life, I was lonely. She taught me to love. But I could not take care of that love and that relationship broke.

Ishwari: And then she came back in your life again.

Bhaiya: Yes. And this time she didn't come alone. She brought my life's biggest happiness with her.

Ishwari smiles: Suhana.

Bhaiya: Yes. You know what I think? I think Suhana taught me to take care of love and I love her very much. May be even more than you.

Ishwari: And shall I tell you something? I love Suhana more than you too. My Dev grew up a lot.

Bhaiya: Maa, I understood why Sonakshi came back in my life. Did you understand why she is connected to your life?

Ishwari's smile disappears.

Me: I don't know what was Maata's response. But I have a question for Bhaiya.

So Bhaiya, since you have dissected and analysed the reason for Sonakshi's presence in your life, would you please enlighten us what's the purpose or reason for you to be in her life?

I mean you are off no use to her personally. Jatin makes a more supportive (without any strings attached) life partner to her and a more attentive father figure to Soha than you.

She became rich on her own. She can solve all her problems on her own.

What is your use in her life?

Anyhoo, Mamaji and Saurabh make small talk in the living room.

Radha pointedly tells her "friend" to think of it as her house.

Mamaji asks Aarti, what does she do?

Aarti responds: I can do everything.

Me: You will have to honey. You are competing with super woman and wonder woman hybrid. Please demonstrate your purpose and usefulness so that Bhaiya can decide which one of you is more useful to Dixit family. Remember, no use means straight refuse.

Mamaji is taken back: Everything?

Aarti continues: I mean I can cook, sew, embroider, everything. And I play dholki in bhajan mandli (religious group).

Ishwari looks at her. Sona and Dev smile at each other.

Me: Wrong answer. Kitchen is Ishwari's property. You are rejected.

Her mummy chimes in: Yes, my daughter has sung two songs in Maata's chowki part 32.

Asha is impressed.

Radha almost get a heart attack. She says that Kalpana wants to say that Aarti is very religious. She is a very eligible girl.

So Bijoy asks politely: You didn't say how long you two know each other?

Radha says: Years ago...

Bijoy asks politely again: I was talking to her (Kalpana). Where did you meet?

Kalpana aunty stammers.

Radha also stammers.

Ishwari cuts in: Bhabhi, you said that they used to live in our area.

Radha: Yes.

Ishwari: But they moved somewhere else, you also said that.

Radha: Yes.

Ishwari: That's why you couldn't come to Dev and Sona's marriage.

Radha's face turned into prune.

Ishwari: Sonakshi?

Sona: Yes?

Ishwari: Otherwise, you must have remembered her, no?

Kalpana: We didn't know that you guys would be here. Otherwise we would have come some other day.

Bijoy is uber polite: What's such a big deal that you can't talk in front of us?

Sona: Baba...

Bijoy: I mean that you don't need to feel awkward in front of us. You can talk openly.

Ishwari hurriedly take everyone to dining table.

Me: Why do I get the feeling that Bijoy guessed why they are there? Because yesterday and even today he was cranky. But he went from hungry Tia mood to well-fed Tia mood so suddenly that it makes me think that he must have heard something or guessed it.

Anyhoo, at the dining table, Dev calls Suhana: Come my princess.

Suhana climbs on his lap: Thank you, Papa.

Sona puts Golu on Elena's lap: Come my prince charming.

Golu gets super excited: Bigcha, Bigchi called me prince charming.

Bhaiya smiles.

Me: Poor Golu. He is so deprived of affection and attention. I wish people around him paid more attention to him. I adore him.

Elena: Sona, where's Jatin?

Sona: He has gone to do some urgent work in office.

Me: At night. Really? May be Jatin Bhaiya has escaped this mad situation.

Suddenly, Radha asks Sonakshi to get water for her.

Sonakshi shows that water is on the table.

Radha pretends to cough: Actually I am coughing since morning. So get a little warm water, please.

Sonakshi agrees and goes in the kitchen.

Suddenly Radha calls Aarti: Aarti, why are you standing there? Sit here naa. The chair beside Dev is empty. Sit there.

Aarti says: I have been taught from childhood that first elders are served. So I can't sit like this.

Ishwari makes faces.

Me: Me too, Maata. Today your and my expressions are identical. Sun must really be setting in the East tonight.

Sona says: Auntyji has made food with so much hard work. Come sit with us. We will eat together. We will keep serving each other.

Aarti: My upbringing has taught me this.

Ishwari is getting pissed off at her holier than thou attitude.

Me: Me too, Maata. Now you know why I used to get pissed off at you and Asha. Yes, for this exact reason.

Radha chimes in: Kalpana has given such high culture to Aarti.

Kalpana thanks her.

Sonakshi hands water to Radha.

She drinks it and spits it out: What's this?

Sonakshi: You were coughing naa. I put medicine in your water. So drink it. It's good for you.

Radha is stuck.

Ishwari smiles in secret looking at Sonakshi.

Me: High five Maata. Bolo kya bajaya Sonakshi ne aapki headache ki? Ab maante ho naa ki pairi pauna bahu se dimaag wali bahu jyada kaam ki hain?

(Tell me how Sonakshi gave Radha tit for tat? Now you admit naa that intelligent daughter-in-law is better than yes, ma'am kind?)

PRECAP: Dev, Sona and Suhana are playing in the garden.

Ishwari is looking at them and smiling.

Bhaiya calls for a family selfie.

Ishwari looks at Sona with a soft smile.

Bhaiya says: Why are you looking at her? Look at the camera. Once more.

Bhaiya takes a selfie. Soha says that this is world's best selfie.

Sona says that she also wants to see. So she goes around Ishwari beside Bhaiya to see it.

Ishwari stands there softly smiling.

Me: What can I say? It seems that Mamaji's preaching was the key. Even though he kept repeating the same song before. Only this time it registered in Maata's head. But the hole you mother and son dug so deep, you will need to build a giant stairs one step at a time to get out of it.

Because Bijoy is happy to kick you back into the hole you are trying to dig out off. That's why wise people say, think before you act. Not act before you think.

NO RULES!!! YAY!!!

Comments

  1. So true Tia. No clue what's happening in the show. Although it's all good and rosy doesn't please our mind. Either the show is gonna shut shop or we ll get a bigger jhatka soon like we got after Sonakshi's fake pregnancy drama (That time also all of a sudden Ishwari became so loving). Wud Dev accept his mistakes even if Sona didn't do anything for Ishwari? I don't think so. Also Sonakshi's is shown the stupidest person on this show and Bijoy is a comedian. So much inconsistency in the story

    1. Exactly. This seems to me a very patronizing attitude as if patting on the head after a job well done or letting Sona in after she paid the entrance fee to Dixit Mansion through service to Ishwari. Neither of the approach is respectful to Sona as a person.

  2. Did I miss something, why is Ishwari so happy about Dev and Sonakshi all of a sudden.

It has only been a few hours since the hospital scene and when Dev (forcefully) asked her to invite the Boses right? It's still the same day as the medication and water rejection scene. She wasn't keen on Sonakshi at the hospital, or when Dev asked her to invite the Boses but now it's like she had some type of revelation in the time she invited the family to when they showed up.

If it was mamaji's words that changed her mind, mamaji has been saying this since before the wedding, that Sonakshi is a good girl who makes the family whole and loves Dev, etc. Ishwari knew Sonakshi was always looking out for the family (Neha, Riya-Ayan) so the khatri thing was just another feather in her cap, not some new revelation.

What happened within a matter of hours that caused Ishwari to change her mind, that didn't happen in the last 8 years?

    1. Honey, I can understand how you are feeling. Hence my title due to the wtf reaction we are having. How, what, when Ishwari got her brain transplanted and personality updated I don't know. Nothing is making sense from the time Dev practically forced her to invite Bose family when Ishwari just wanted to hand out some token gifts to her claiming credit for inviting them and her being overwhelmed with happiness to see Dev and Sona together. I don't know how or why. I am just reacting to the episode. Which is hard considering what was shown earlier this week.

    2. They don't even remember that dev actually was questioning her character a couple of weeks back and what kind of a woman is sona? Why does she keep forgetting the insults heaped on her by dixit family? I don't mind her forgiving but forgetting is unrealistic.

    3. Kavitha, hahah, it was a few weeks for us, but Dev was questioning Sonakshi's character less than 9 days ago in TV time as it's only been 9 days since the start of the Dixit house stay.

So I just called ishwari a painter because she was hell bent on filling colours.

  5. Ok. So khatri issue made Ishuworry realise Sona is diamond. Had she not poked her nose, she would still be a nobody. Where did I last see these kind of emotions? Kekta's shows.

Dev concludes that everyone in his life has come with a purpose. Sonakshi brought Soha with her this time. Dev has truly become a baba. Dev and deep philosophical thots dont gel together.

All was good in today's episode....except that it looked so unreal.

    1. Again there is no flow in the story. As a stand alone the episode was actually good. All the characters were behaving according to their respective style .but for a follower of the show somewhere we are not able connect with the story. The writers have a mess out of it. What could have been a good track has been spoiled by the build up track.

    2. Precisely. But let's not forget that Ishwari neither drank water from Asha nor medicine from Sona right after the incident. She wanted to hand Sona some token gifts and had to literally coerced by Dev to invite her family to dinner and now taking full credit for the idea.

  6. pretty confusing track dev knows sona won't agree to come back and ish doesn't want them to but some how soha is the reason for them to have sona on board without her soha won't be there .
i feel ish changed because the past deeds and guilt has vanished but is she insecure yes she is all mom's are so and so is ish..well these 2 build a dream around without knowing the other person mind ..by doing so they think everything will turn fairy tale but life is no fairytale but a road with speed breakers so better they keep it low .the moment sona gets to know there dream she will back off..
ish is turned shailaja of sasural because she was initially that but she turned vamp thanks to mamiji who pumped her and situations to drew her even dev lies always made ish insecure towards sona .dev is the soul reason for sona vs ish because of his lies hiding like a cowardness made things worse if he acted like a man in the house things would be fine ..eg-my hubby handled it so well otherwise my life would turn same as sona. i feel a man doesn't need to be a puppet to ladies he needs to act smartly without hurting both ...see vicky he knows to handle his life ...anyways i hated todays scene of devish were both say good words but looked so fake because they are selfish ..seriously todays episode really cracked me ..
dev loves sona because she gave birth to soha otherwise he wouldn't have loved her byewah kya logic hai ...
dev is great lover if sona couldn't conceive he gate passed her now that sona had soha he is clames he love her more because of soha
even ish said the same so having kids is the only way to win these dixits .
what if sona couldnt have soha would devish welcomed her the answer "no""sona who"
what a love story umm cv's a thief is goddess a righteous is villain only a mother can be a perfect bahu, wife and a soulmate ...
so those who can't conceive has no right to live kya logic hai boss
wah dev Clapso u love sona and expressed in front of ishwari so devish are dancing already but wait keep ur dreams at hold is bijoy-sona ready make sure don't build a castle in mid air LOL...
devish are so selfish they want soha so all this nautanki showering love on sona because she helped otherwise we saw they were throwing bricks on sona in the form of words, taunts ,blaming game ...
bijoy is right these ppl play games perfectly hope sona don't fall like before if she falls then god save her she dug her grave by herself no one can help her .if she doesn't respect herself then no one a person needs to have self-respect the ppl who threw her out are welcoming her because she has there flesh and blood in the form of kid soha ...
such a dum dialogues from script writer ...
wished mami would have revealed the truth it would have opened asha and sona eyes and bijoy was always right love him more as father he is hyper but awesome fathers that his family don't deserve him he can only protect sona its up to sona to read between the lines what dixits wants they want to snatch the doll from her

    1. Don't even try to bring logic here, Shailu. This script defies logic. I also don't know what brought this sudden change in Ishwari. And why should we be happy that Ishwari finally stood up against Maami when Bhaiya still can't? Should now we assume Sona should marry Ishwari and skip the middle person Dev who still needs everything done by Mummy for him to get love back in his life?

  7. I think the makers and writers are misunderstanding the fans' request to go back to the charm of the first 100 episodes. We're not asking for over the top positvity and romance, because that wasn't the charm of the first 100 episodes.

The charm of the first 100 episodes was:
    1. No over the top drama
    2. Consistency in character behaviour.
    3. Tight script (the episodes flowed and built on each other. There were no random re-writes of history or reversals of things that happened. The current episodes don't flow at all and are jarring with how the plot and characters change without sufficient reason)
    4. meaningful dialogues
    5. light hearted comedy
    6. the male lead did not disrespect people (he was respectful and patient with Bijoy and Sonakshi)
    7. the romantic moments were sweet and natural, no excessive, random and unnecessary eyelocks

  8. Wasn't this sold to the audiences as a story of two lovers working together to convince the ML's mom to accept the FL?
It now seems as though Dev and Ishwari will work together to convice Sona and Bijoy to accept the ML and his mom.

If the writers had planned to change the original script why not just do it during the first break up? The conditions were very similar.

  9. When slapgate happened, Yash Patnaik had said that they weren't going to give into fans demand to take it out because the incident was needed to move the story forward.

I have to ask now, was the slap really needed? Now that everything is happy happy i see no point to the OTT-ness of the slap. If they just needed Bijoy to hate Ishwari and Dev enough to play a role in the separation, it was enough to call him a thief and evict him from the house. That would have been enough for a character like Bijoy to hate Dev.

    2. The makers want the audience to somehow believe that dev slapping bejoy was a spontaneous and unknowing reaction to a situation where he saw his god behaving like a lunatic!
But makers also wanted us to believe that sona offering ishwari the cheque was humiliating and disrespectful towards her husbands mother.
And now the only person who seems to remember all this is bejoy and he is just trying to protect his daughter and family but now comes the tricky part for the thinking viewer now the makers want us to believe that bejoy is some evil control freak father who doesn't want to see his daughter happy.
I am getting confused trying to get this in order😁 Hopefully you got my point.

Honestly it seemed to me at that time that Sona is such a pathetic woman that regardless of her numerous humiliation and her family's insult, she only finally protested when her father was slapped. Because you know, when women reacts to her own insult, she is overreacting. Because since when a woman's self-respect is worth anything?

  12. So this Ishwari character didn't relent when she saw her son (whom she claims to love the most of all in this world) self-destruct (the first time and the second time), or after she found out about Suhana but as soon as Sonakshi saved her from Khatri, Ishwari has now whole heartedly accepted Sonakshi.

Also, if the writers remember in S1, Ishwari stood up to Khatri and refused to pay him, so she was capable of handling Khatri in S1 but not S2.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yep. For that matter, Bhaiya was capable of handling Khatri, Ayan in season one, but became moronic in season 2. Behena saved Bhaiya's life in season one from fever, but got useless in season 2 in curing her own daughter's minor sneezing and temperature. As I said, their capabilities are like Bhaiya's health condition. It comes and goes on demand.

  18. Soumya here.

Absolutely loved this line from your post Tia!
"Aren't women with no self-respect and low confidence the backbone of patriarchy?"

This is what I was telling my mom the other day. We were talking about a cousin of mine who is in her late 40s. She has been married for over 20 years. She is so scared to step out of her in-laws place even for a day to attend a family function. She needs to go thru the process of getting "permissions" from her husband, mil, fil...she wasnt able to see her mom when my aunt was sick and was advised bed rest because her fil didnt let her...my mom asked her why she should be like that...cant she alteast try to be true to herself atleast once and stand up for her parents? you know what she told...I dont have a life of my own...I felt so pissed and agitated when my mom was telling me that....i told my mom that we need to put in that confidence in both girls and boys since they are babies...we need to support them irrespective of what they want to do or what they do let them know that they are always with them no matter what...it is by making mistakes you learn...that doesnt mean that parents should not stop them when they go around do illegal stuff....I asked my mom, why cant she leave that life and come free...my mom said who will support her? not the financial kind of...there is so much stigma attached to the word Divorce and Separation, that how much ever shit goes on in your married life, everyone(including most parents) expect you to adjust(because thats what they have been doing)...and thats what reflects in Asha's behavior....thats exactly whats happening in the society...girls are raised so differently compared to boys...when a girl has a love marriage against the parents will, and god forbid, that marriage breaks, very few parents come forward to help the girl.... I personally saw one case, where the girl was left all alone and had to build her life from the scratch...good thing is she is doing really good in her career now and her mom fought with her dad for several years to convince him...in the end her mom left her dad and came to her....and later her dad too came around....

but we can not just blame the girl alone....for ages she has been suppressed and been taught to do what her dad says, husband says....never been taught to do what her heart or mind says...its a vicious cycle I say...

sorry for such a long rant!

      Delete
    4. Thank you, Soumya. I am sorry to hear about your cousin. And I agree with you. It is a vicious cycle. But like all vicious cycle, you need to break one end to break out of it. The first step to break this vicious cycle is to give opportunity to women and make them understand the importance of independence, self-respect and self-worth. When women start to value these three things, the won't be suckered into being mistreated in the name of so-called love and marriage.

I will give an example to the west since I live in Canada. In 50s, women in the west used to be exactly like women in India today. But even worse because they weren't allowed to have any decent jobs and they were not allowed to vote. But then World War happened and all men went to fight wars leaving women behind to hold down jobs, run the household and raise children. That got them the taste of freedom and true independence and they learned to value and rely on themselves.

When the men returned after the war, they found out that women weren't willing to take back their traditional roles anymore. So suffragette happened and women fought hard and eventually men have to make a space for women by them and not behind them.

Today, western society have mostly similar expectations from men and women and same treatment to both genders as well.

So the start was independence, followed by self-worth and self-respect. We should learn from history if we want to get the same equal society.

      Delete
    5. Exactly! Thats what I said my mom too...we need to break it to achieve what we want :)....

When I visited India couple of months back, I was interacting with so many people during the 3 weddings that I attended...I noticed one thing...in both the genders...everyone seem to take the female gender for granted...they say its a ladies job...its not a ladies job....when they see a guy helping out, you rest, she will do it...I noticed a few times and I had to point out....its not OK....sometimes I am so thankful that I got to see the world outside of India and learn so much from that!

Couple of years ago my in-laws were visiting us...my daughter was 5 yrs then...my fil is not very much into doing any household stuff...not even getting water for himself....he kept on asking my mil for small things...for water, for some snacks etc....my daughter observed them for few times and told my fil that...its not OK to ask daadi to get you everything, you need to get water for yourself atleast....you should learn to do it...so that you become responsible when you grow up...those were the things my husband and I talk to her about...though my mil wasnt very happy about that comment, but I was super proud of her :).... I teach both my kids to value themselves, be responsible and be proud of who they are... :)

  19. There is a famous dialogue by Harvey Dent in the movie ' Dark Knight' and it goes like this :-

'' You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain ''.

I don't know but for me, this dialogue completely describes KRPKAB. If they could have actually kept a finite story for a fixed amount of time, like 10 months or even 1 year, it would have turned out to be a brilliant show. I would have always remembered it as ' a show which was awesome and ended that way'.. But instead, they chose to introduce unnecessary things and drag it. Now, I will always remember it as ' a show which started brilliantly but completely lost track later'.

I have not seen a single episode for the past 1 month. I have been only reading updates rarely.. and even then I am able to understand what's happening in the show. That's how predictable and random the show has become.

To be honest, I don't understand why they call it season 1, season 2 etc.. If you generally see in the TV world, you call it season 2 or so when you give the show a break, like for 6 months or more than a year. Here, they end the episode on Friday and say season 2, season 3 is on Monday.. Lol, how is the public going to accept that.. And how the hell do the character's mind change so fast within two days.. Ishwari is angry on Friday and then on Monday season 3 starts where she is totally a fan of Sonakshi.... Lol, seriously ? Are u kidding me ?

Last but not the least, I do understand the fact that show is commercial and it must continue all that business points.. I get it.. They can do that.. But please, don't call it a realistic or mature love story.. First of all, it's not a love story anymore and it sure as hell is not realistic by any means.. No human would ever change his mind so fast without even thinking about the past for even one second..

P.S.- I don't know but all characters in the show seem to be working like Snapchat. After 24 hours, all stories disappear from their brain.

    1. Well said, Zed and I agree. I don't see why we have to call this two different season when everything from the script and storyline have been repeated again. Also I don't see the point of different season if the story doesn't progress. I have been watching the show because I haven't found a show to replace it. The moment I find a new one, I will switch. That reminds me, I am taking suggestion for new shows to jump ship as long as the female lead is not a pathetic doormat.

I could really see a genuine good, happy feeling for Sonakshi (not because she is soha’s mom) for the first time in 320 episodes and I also felt that she is genuinely happy to see Dev and Sonakshi together and it is indeed such a big thing to come from Ishwari. Dev and sona will get back only when Sona and Bujoy feel not not because of Ishwari. From the promo it looks like Ishwari will act as a catalyst not the reason for Dev and Sona’s reunion.

    1. No worries, hun. All opinions are welcome. I agree. Ishwari looked genuinely happy yesterday and that's precisely why we are all confused. Because she didn't look genuinely happy on the second half of Monday's episode or in Tuesday's episode. So I am confused what brought this sudden change in character. In fact she was not happy when Mamaji was talking to her. But I agree. Since Boses came to dinner party, she had been looking genuinely happy.

    2. Hey different opinions are always welcome. In fact most of us liked ishwari yesterday. But most of us have a issue with the lack of consistency in the characterisations. If her reaction in the hospital was positive towards sona and her mother then I would have been more convinced with her reaction now. And it was not her but dev who forced to invite the bose's. The writers have messed up with a lack of consistency.

Now, her expressions mean she wants someone like Sona for Dev bcoz Anjali wud never be Dev's choice. Ishwari's understanding nature has suddenly erupted like a volcano.
She is understanding every other thing about Sonakshi and why she is better for her house. Because Dev Dixit himself is not a traditional or religiously principled guy. He wont enjoy a lady's company who is this way. Ishwari took this long to understand such a simple thing.
And when she did, it looks so so unnatural.

    2. Lol. I know, right? Sometimes we don't know what we absolutely don't need until we see them. Aarti might be the bahu of Ishwari's imagination. But now she knows that she won't be able to tolerate a equally sanctimonious girl like her for two seconds.

It's like how sometimes we imagine a custom ordered product built to our specifications but when we get it it's not nearly good enough. Yep. That's exactly the case.

Like Radha said even Devil sometimes do good. She was not talking about Sona. She was talking about herself. By bringing Aarti, she made Ishwari realize how much she'd hate such traditional, religious woman.

  28. I can understand your uneasiness. If they had to show Ishwari as a changed person after the Khatri track, why they had to show that Ishwari was still reluctant to take medicine from Sona. Mamaji's talk can't be that effective for God's sake! I hope they clarify this just the way they clarified Jatin's absence! :D Maybe a monologue of Ishwari might help. I mean the audience are not as demented as the creator who says something and does something else!

The serial started as a hatke serial which shows the reality in actual life. The insecurities of a mother in law and how it gets sorted. I though it will show how a son and his wife will gradually address this problem and try to rectify it. But now the story as it stand, the DIL can't do much if she is stuck in similar situation other than try to find if there is any Khatri in her MIL's life! :O

Also if they show a happy ending with the marriage of Dev and Sonakshi, how will the audience know whether the end is indeed happy? Because Dev has not done anything which goes against his mother till date, so in future if again Mataji turns 180 degress, where will that leave Sona?

Anyways since everyone, is giving their favorite serial reference, let me also give mine. I have just started watching Moh Moh ke Dhaage. I like the female protagonist Aru. Have to catch up with the initial episodes which I missed!

    1. That's exactly it, Jas. I could have enjoyed it more if after Ishwari hugged Sona, we went directly to the dinner party with her happily agreeing to invite the Bose family. That would have made sense. But due to the scenes in between it's not making sense because there's no connection in between.

Also, I don't want Ishwari again butting in to fix Dev's problem for him. Dev had made quite a few mistakes even after making a deal with Bijoy when he was drunk. Bijoy kept his side of the bargain but by staying away at mid night like a thief, he broke his side of the bargain of treating him with respect.

So this time he will have to win Bijoy over and convince Sona. He is a grown up, not a baby for whom others will run around fetching him things he wants.

  29. Okay. Tia you're hilarious.

I know even I had the same expressions a Maata when Sona and Anjali were talking.

I enjoyed this dinner table scene the most. Ishwari's expressions were perfect.
Only thing I want now is for Ish and Dev to toil really hard to convince Bijoy and Sona.

I also liked Ish-Bijoy bumping into each other. It was funny. Bijoy only makes faces. He is actually harmless as Asha and Dida control him and Sona,Sourabh tell me when he goes overboard.

Ishwari is one-person army. Dev never tells her when she is wrong. That's really really bad. Even Sona treats her as if she makes no mistakes. Even now, if Sona agrees, unless Ishwari gives others the privilege to point out her wrongs, other than no-good-Mamaji, Sona-Dev-Ish wotn sustain for long.
Makers are again going wrong about it.

Ishwari is God. She self realizes. If someone points out to her, is there any harm? In fact, I would like to see Ishwari accepting and agreeing when Bijoy points out her mistakes. Only then, there will be warmth and trust in their relationship. Someone with authority needs to have some hold over IShwari's wrong doings. I hope its Bijoy. She needs to accept his straightforwardness and let him show her when she goes wrong. I don't know if any other character in the show is capable of doing it other than Bijoy Bose.

    1. Thank you, Gauri. Yes, I agree. Ishwari needs to really listen what Bijoy has to say and Dev needs to keep his mouth shut then just like he did in front of Maalti. You can't be arrogant when asking for a second chance. Sorry third chance. They have suffered because of Ishwari and Dev and he deserves his right to express his grievances just like Maalti did.

So he can't get into his My Mummy is the best high horse and hope to be accepted by Bijoy. He is cranky old man. But he is a fair man.

  31. Hi Tia,

Finally I am able to comment. Been trying since morning.

Dude, I love you( in a totally platonic, i-have-a-girl-crush-on-you way). You are so hilarious.

Pepe le pew, taking Suhana's DNA through eyes and fandom - bolo, Didi bolo -> all of these were gems!!! =D

And yes, I actually liked the episode mostly (If I just pretend that last 150 episodes never happened).
