Today I will talk about addiction.
Have you seen any person who is addicted to drugs or alcohol or smoking etc?
They crave that one moment of heady pleasure and can gamble their entire life away for that one moment of fix for their addiction.
If their family and friends try to stop them, they turn on them in a moment because under the haze of addiction, they think their well wishers are their enemy.
If someone supplies them their cravings, they think that they are their only friends. Which is why many drug addicts like their supplier because they are the ones who is giving them their fix.
Now you must be wondering why I am saying this. Well, Sonakshi looks like an addicted person to me and her addiction is Dev Dixit. It flares only when someone else wants him.
Kind of like someone who has vowed to quit smoking and can ignore a closed box. But when someone else smokes a cigarette, they crave a smoke badly? Yep. Just like that.
Because even she knows that their relationship is doomed for failure. She has got no other proof to believe otherwise.
Yet she craves it like some addicted people crave their next fix.
But when she is away from him, she exercises her will power. It's just the proximity which makes her craving worse.
Take any cravings and apply Sona's behaviour and you will see that it fits.
Someone on diet craving sweets - Same.
Someone with smoking addiction - Same.
Alcohol addiction - Same.
Drug Addiction - Same.
On the other hand, Dev is playing her like some suppliers play with their victims. Like holding onto the drug and saying, Oh you want this? Well, then you will have to do as I say.
Dev wants to get Sona, not win her over by proving his commitment or taking away her fear. These two are not the same.

He wants to get her where he wants her and he is willing to do anything to make it happen.
Had he really loved her, he would have gone where she is and stood beside her.
As I said, this is not love by any definition.

EPISODE: The episode starts with Soha's question, if her father calls someone else his wife if they will like it.
Sonakshi gets surprised.
Soha runs from there.
Me: And as usual silent like an idiot. Any intelligent person would have answered that, "He hasn't called me his wife for 8 years. So it won't change my status in his life. And secondly, I can't call someone husband just because I don't want him to call someone else wife. That is something adults understand, but children don't."
Ishwari comes in.
She says: Sometimes children asks us questions for which we have no answer and sometimes they answer our questions in such a simple way that we wonder is it the question we are struggling with?
When Dev was young, he used to answer my questions so easily that I used to think was that this easy? For children, it's all about yes or no.
Me: Exactly Maiya. For children. Not for adults. Which is why child marriage is illegal. Because children can't understand complex relationships.
Adults understand that one can't marry someone just because they don't want them with anyone else. Because marriage is not happily ever after from fairy tales. The happily ever after has to be built and sustained ever after the marriage is done and the party is over.
So as per you and your son, you might think, Sona is locked, the deal is done, documents signed and delivered. But then what?
Then it's lifetime of incompatibility of morality, values, ethics which later turns into bitterness.
Anyhoo, Ishwari takes her turn in inflicting pain. She asks: I just came to ask you how did you like Nisha.
Sonakshi says: She is nice. Did you like her?
Ishwari says: You know my son better than me. I have been waiting for your yes for so long.
Me: Sorry. So long? You mean she didn't jump the moment you and Bhaiya decided? I mean one day you liked her, the next day you appointed her as her ex's matchmaker, she convinced Bhaiya the same day, the third day Bhaiya met Payal and agreed to marry, the fourth day they went on a date and Karan appeared, the fifth day he met Nisha and agreed for marriage.
Wow. Such a long wait. A whole five days. Really, Sonakshi. You should have been better trained than that.
Ishwari says: I just want to know if Nisha is worthy of being Mrs. Dev Dixit or not. Think about it and let me know.

Bijoy hears the tail end of Asha's conversation. He asks Asha: Who was it?

1. Bijoy made no preparation for Dev's marriage. The decision was Ishwari's, supported by you, agreed by Dev. He is just going to party.
So actually he has as much contribution to it as any other wedding guests would have to Dev's decision to get hitched.
2. If you think whatever problem happened between you because of him, why didn't you stay in that marriage? Why didn't you jump all over Dev when he agreed to make you one of the optional life partner in your life? And why the hell did you try to stop Bijoy when he was washing his hand off your life and was peacefully leaving for Kolkata?
Now you are blaming him when he should have blamed you when you came back from a broken marriage, pregnant and divorced. He should have reminded you the numerous bad decisions you made including agreeing for marriage, then running off at your engagement, marrying the so-called love of your life, then divorcing him only because your father didn't like him (he and his mother are obviously blameless according to you), then going back into his life and getting into one week arrangement, then agreeing to match make for him when his mother said so (because you don't have guts to open your mouth in front of her) and now not liking the fact that your property is now torturing you.
You deserve fathers who treat their daughters like cattle. Because women like you deserve that. Your father's biggest mistake is trusting you in everything you say and forgiving you over and over.
No wonder Dev treats you like shit. Shit people deserve to be treated like shit.
You treat people in the way they understand. Some people understand the language of love. And some people needs the kick to get the point.
Bijoy is hurt. He slowly sits down.
Asha calls his name.
Sourav is also looking worried for him.
Bijoy says: Asha, that Dev Dixit came between me and Sona. That's why I wanted him to go away from Sona's life. Did you hear what she said? Sona may hurt me, say anything to me, but I won't back down from the responsibility of a father. I will lead her to the right path. Did you see, Sona has never talked to me like this ever, because it's all because of Dev. I will dance in his wedding so much that everyone will keep watching. You just watch.
Asha feels sad.

Bijoy get one thing straight. No one made Sona open her mouth today. She is not a kid. She is an addict and this is her reality. Even if the supplier gets married, she won't stop her addiction.
In fact, if Dev Dixit comes to her the next day to his wedding, I am pretty sure that she is the type to have an affair with a married man.

Next day, Sona comes to Dixit house. Radha asks if she is looking for someone?

Behena watches and remembers her times.
Me: No big deal. If we start counting what he had done with other women which once he had done with Sonakshi, we will run out of fingers to count. At least these are something he can do in public.
Suddenly, the flowers garland falls down. Both Bhaiya and Sonakshi bends to grab it.
Bhaiya and Sonakshi eyelock.
Nisha says: Sonakshi? Dev didn't tell me you were also coming?
Bhaiya: You didn't tell me either. What is it, Sonakshi? Did you have any work with me?
Sonakshi: I came here to take Soha to her class.

Look it up, it's called gambling addiction. Where people stake everything on a chance and often end up losing everything.

Vicky is talking to someone. Radha says that she has a great news. Dev is getting engaged. Vicky is very happy.

Sonakshi sees that it's Bhaiya. She turns off the phone.
Bhaiya can't reach her. He says: Sonakshi, pick up my phone. I won't let you ignore me like this. You have to accept that you can't see me with anyone else.
Me: Yep, the whipping is not done yet. How can the victim run so soon? How dare she ignore him? He can ignore her, treat her like shit. But she should be at his beck and call.

Bhaiya says: Yes.
Bijoy says: Arre beta congratulations. Your wedding got fixed.
Bhaiya is surprised at the grand greetings: Thank you. There are time until marriage. But my engagement is tomorrow. You must come.
Bijoy is excited: What? Your engagement is tomorrow? You have given me a great news. The sooner it happens the better. We will definitely come. Don't worry.

You deserve fathers who treat their daughters like cattle. Because women like you deserve that. Your father's biggest mistake is trusting you in everything you say and forgiving you over and over.
No wonder Dev treats you like shit. Shit people deserve to be treated like shit.

Bhaiya: Hello Miss Bose. I didn't drag you here. You and Maa dragged me in the middle and you promised me that you will be by my side until the last round. And if you break your promise, I will also break this engagement. You will have to be by my side until the last moment.
Me: If Sonakshi was a smart woman, she could have said that she agreed to be with him for moral support. But now that he has agreed for marriage and is excited about it, he no longer needs her.
And Bhaiya was a smart guy, he should understand that if Sonakshi shows up fearing that he will break the engagement if she doesn't, that means she wants the engagement to happen and will never open her mouth.
Because if she really wanted to break the engagement, she could have just stayed away after hearing this. But if she comes, then definitely his aim won't get fulfilled.
So chalk this up as idiocy.
PRECAP: Ishwari says to Bhaiya: I know that our destination is the same.

This addiction is very bad. Now I am addicted to this krpkab. I never had BP recently when I went for regular checkup...my BP was 189/108. Doctor is asking what is bothering me? I think this krpkab is really taking toll on my health. My husband is thinking It is bcoz of work load. He is advising me to take it easy. A person who is experienced more than 23 yrs..what work load can bother? I am sure this serial and the way it addressed its issue is bothering me. Now I am finding a way to get out of this. I am almost successful. Hopefully my health gets better.

I used to take this serial seriously in season 1. The issues discussed was (MIL's insecurity) was real and close to home. I thought I will get some genuine solutions. That is why I did not want a leap but in season 2, every character is a caricature of the their previous avatar and I am unable to seriously get involved. So Pramila, dont' take it seriously, follow Tia's imagination! :D

ReplyDeleteWhat bothers me about this show is that they gloss over some important/significant details. Like what makes Dev and Ishwari think that Sonakshi should accept their proposal. They haven't done anything to show her that they have changed or that the situation has improved. Ishwari is still pulling the strings in her son's life and dev is still blindly following his mother's orders.

I think Supriya is leaving the show, in one of the recent India Forum interviews she says that Ishwari's journey has ended after the engagement. Maybe that is why the sudden change of heart towards Sona/blame on Bijoy for ruining the marriage, they need to wrap Ishwari's role up and make Bijoy take over the role of villian to continue the drama.

I believe, based on your language, you were the same person who wrote a comment yesterday about my post being heavily polarized. I also replied back to you. But I am not sure whether you read it or not or just made a random post and never returned. But here's my response.
Thank you for reading my post. I'd have left the show long ago if my readers didn't need a place to speak their mind. Believe it or not, I am not the only one who hates both the leads. Just a glance at the comment section of this post would tell you. That's why I created this blog so that I can share my opinion and they can also speak without fear.
In this blog it's not mandatory to agree with me and all opinions are welcome.
3. We were in the forum as you very well know. We were pushed out from there by so-called positive people who couldn't tolerate difference of opinion. But here, we discuss everything under the sun. You can too take everyone of my Me comments and counter-argue those points.
Sorry here we don't make random comments like "you are biased", "you are negative" without giving a specific example. If you think I am biased, pick the comment which made you reach that conclusion and prove it. If you think we are negative, again take a "positive" situation where we reacted negatively and prove it. However, keep in mind, lies and manipulation are not positive situation for us. It might be for someone else.
4. There are people, both in forum and in Twitter who have openly said that women should be "tamed", they deserve how they are treated in their in-laws, women should not have self-respect or self-worth etc. So are we sorry for speaking against misogyny? Hell no.
5. The people who wanted Dev and Sona to get back together, well, then that's their choice. As far as we remember, we don't have problem with that. Just like we have reasons for them never getting back together, they might have reasons to have happily ever after. Their choice. But where did we bash them here? I went through every comments. But none of them said it.
However, we do talk about men and women who make misogynistic comments about women. Yes. That's kind of how real life works. When people write their opinion, we judge them based on their stance. A person, regardless of gender, who says a woman's place is the kitchen, we judge them to be chauvinist. A person who says that men and women are equal and deserves same in every way, we judge them to be a feminist. So how would we judge those who use internet to spread regressive mentality? Exactly.
6. As some of them mentioned, I have had pretty strong debates with lots of forum members with difference of opinion. I respect their stance and their ability to express their points with solid logic and sometimes agreed to disagree and sometimes concede to them. Lavanya, Aswarthy, MaharathiKarna etc were some of them.
The reason they have my respect is because they never made random comments. They picked what I wrote and counter-argued it and allowed me to defend my point with similar counter-arguement.
As I mentioned, anonymously or not, you are welcome to do the same. However, if you make a comment anonymously and disappear, then actually the same accusations you made to us, turns back to you. Now you are bashing real people trying to defend fictional character. Aren't you? We are just defending our points. And yes, we are still here and will be here today as well. So if you want a healthy discussion, join in. If not, well, it's entirely your decision. I can hardly impose my opinion on anyone.

I was angry with Sona today too. She didn't even apologize later. What kind of ass does it make her? Dev needed to get drunk to talk to his mother. And Sonakshi just needs to be in "Lau" to disrespect her father with fake accusations. Yet, she keeps apologizing to Ishwari and absolve her of all blames because apparently it was her and Dev's responsibility to maintain a relationship. What a shitty daughter.

If she had retrospected her own action, just for her love for Dev( or addiction!) she had subjected her father and family embarrassing moments like when she ran to Dev in her own engagement ceremony. Her in-laws insulted Bijoy and Bose family, called them cheaters and thieves during 5 cr fiasco. Bijoy had to sell off his property, his life long saving and had to move to another city. Even then he is such a loving father to Sona and this is how the daughter repaid him back. Sonakshi is meant for Dixit household, the way she wags her tail in that house, whether invited or invited, agrees to whatever nonsense Iswari spouts. Sona, if you have forgotten, this remarriage idea was Ishwari's not Bijoy's. To Ishwari she goes Auntiji auntiji, no fault of yours ... That's precisely is my reason for not believing in Bhaiya's so called Lau. None of us can imagine hurting the person we love. In fact we have seen Sona, even after being hurt herself, tried to take away Bhaiya's pain. If you recall during Khatri's track, Bhaiya questioned her character (and that's coming from him is ironical) yet she went to help him with his problem. Compare that to Bhaiya's attitude and the contrast is very visible. Then how can both be love? Every relationship is different. But love is universal and consistent.

That's pretty awful thing to do. This person tried to openly instigate other people against you. If she had any issue with what you said, she could have send you a message and asked you to justify yourself. Thanks for ur words and suggestion. The reason why I have been banned from the forum is because this person has presented my views as if I am calling people who ship for Sharica, suffering from psychological disorder. This insinuates towards inault of people so I dont blame the mods.

DeleteYour friends' hurt makes sense. But mods banning someone for expressing an opinion elsewhere doesn't make sense. They should have banned that person for sharing something you wrote without your permission (because whatever you write/create is your copyright. That includes comments, opinions, articles, blogs, memes, gifs etc.) and trying to instigate against you. You can't be banned for stating an opinion elsewhere that doesn't coincides with them. That's ridiculous. They have no rights over your opinion beyond what you write in their forum. Otherwise, many people would have got banned for their nasty language in youtube and twitter. But no one goes banning people for that.
DeleteIsn't it against the forum rules to comment on the personal lives of actors? Why hasn't any shipper thread been closed because it violates the rules. The two actors haven't announced anything officially, so all this is gossip, rumors and speculation, I thought that was against forum rules no?
DeleteIt's fun to read but some of the comments are a stretch and over the top. I think sometimes people forget they are talking about the lives of two real people.
This isn't the first time Shaheer has been linked romantically with his co-star, the same things were said about his Navya co-star too.

Like I had mentioned yesterday I was just curious to know why you continue to watch the show. Because I had come across many in depth articles where the opinions were in stark contrast to yours.
