Tia's Thread: Baby Steps!!!
When a relationship is broken and one takes the initiative to fix it, one thing that they need to consider is that the people whom they separated from may not be the same people they are trying to unite with.
The best approach then is to,
1. Be prepared for all sorts of changes (personal, professional, lifestyle)
2. Be accepting instead of judgemental. Nothing pushes away people than people being judgemental.
And
3. Slowly build up the comfort level, but in a steady pace and don't give up if you have started.
If someone is pursued and then discarded, it makes them feel that their present self is not respected.
If the fault lie in you and that person is really important, then I believe, nothing beats personally showing up and asking for forgiveness.
No one can remain angry when they see genuine remorse on someone's face, particularly if they are someone they love. Sometimes, body language speaks more sincerely than words.
Sonakshi should indeed make Dev personally go and stand in front of each sister and ask for forgiveness. And her job is to remind them how many times Dev has forgiven them for their mistakes and now it's their turn. But it should not be her asking for forgiveness. It should be Bhaiya himself. Somethings should not be delegated to others.
But it can't be rushed either. Patience is the key. So baby steps and persistent personal effort should be the strategy in this case.
EPISODE: The episode starts with Ishwari saying that how Dev and Sonakshi are fulfilling their responsibilities together.
Mamaji says that it's good. She should be happy that her dream has come true.
Ishwari says sadly: My dream would have been fulfilled earlier if I was not standing between them. If I hadn't interfered too much in their life. What was I thinking, Bhaiya? I will do everything for my child. It's my duty. What else can a mother do? What kind of insecure ideas I was harbouring within me. Now I understand everything, Bhaiya. Every relationship must have a boundary. All relationship must have a limit to them.
Me: Exactly. Wow, Ishwari, I had said it such a long time ago in my post and kept on repeating. You finally understood that when one relationship starts to take over other relationship's space, that's when it starts to choke out those other relationships and harm it's own dignity. Even if after seven long years, but at least you understood. So everything is clear in your book as far as I am concerned.
Mamaji says: If you understood everything then what's the tension?
Ishwari: I have no tension, Bhaiya. Everything is fine now. It's just I worry that I will have nothing to do now and will feel empty without any work to do.
Mamaji agrees that it's a concern.
Just then Elena comes hoping. She says: Saurabh dada just called. He said that Mashi's book got published. Now she is a published writer.
Mamaji and Ishwari are super impressed.
Mamaji exclaims: Asha bhabhi became writer...
Ishwari: Huh? Ashaji writes?
Elena nods.
Ishwari says: It's so wonderful, naa Bhaiya?
Mamaji nods.
Ishwari says: I will soon call her to congratulate.
Elena bobs her head.
Ishwari thinks.
Me: That's a great thing to do, specially as we near retirement. Having a hobby helps you keep engaged and it's medically proven that having an interest or a hobby also help to stave off the early onset of dementia.
My aunt (My mashi) has recently decided to pick up photography with my husband's encouragement who also loves photography. She did a course from New York School of Photography for beginners, bought a DSLR nikon camera with my husband's help and now regularly posts her picture in National Geographic website.
Recently two of her pictures became trending on Nat Geo. I have never seen her happier and more excited before.
My mother is into knitting. She only knits baby clothes like dresses, boots, hats, sweater. She calls it her win win situation. Not only she loves knitting, but also she uses those pics to try to make me feel guilty for not popping out grandchildren.
Sonakshi comes to Nikki's house. She rings the bell.
A grown up, fashionista Nikki opens the door.
Sonakshi gets a huge smile on her face. Nikki looks confused.
Sonakshi chucks under Nikki's chin: Nikki? You have grown up so much and looking so beautiful.
Nikki steps back: Wait. How did you come here? How did you find me? Why did you come to me? I don't get it.
Sonakshi: Why? Your friend Sonakshi didi can't come and meet you?
Nikki: Are you for real? What Sona di? You didn't just leave my brother, but also left all of us. In all these years, you didn't contact us even once. Now by what right did you come here?
Sonakshi feels ashamed: I am sorry. It's my fault. There was a lot of things going on in my life.
Nikki: And now there's a lot going on in my life. I am busy. I can't talk to you.
Sonakshi: Okay. So you don't want to talk to Sonakshi di, but you can talk to Sonakshi bhabhi, no?
Nikki is shocked: What?
Sonakshi: I came back in Dev's life, in Maa's life. So I came back in your life.
Me: Imagine me face palming... Start from the beginning, not from the end. Good lord. And use your daughter's cute face.
Nikki: My life is very different from that home. But first tell me how did you get my address?
Sonakshi: I went to your hostel. They said that you moved here. Why didn't you tell anyone that you moved?
Nikki: You also moved somewhere else. You also didn't tell anyone anything. Look, a lot has changed in these years. And even if I had told anyone anything, they won't have cared. And the people who should know about me, they know. And the people who don't care about me, what will they do by this information?
Sonakshi: I think you are thinking wrong. Everyone at home...
Nikki interrupts: Anyways, you didn't tell me why you came here? Say it fast because I am busy. And if Maa has sent you, then you go away. I don't want to talk to you.
Sonakshi: No one sent me. I came on my own to meet you. You live here with your friends? Won't you call me inside? I'd like to see too how you manage your home. And how girls live together. Can I?
Sonakshi walks in...
Nikki is feeling awkward behind her.
Me: Can I mention, the actress who is playing Nikki is doing a fabulous job with all the expressions? Bang on...
She had been very underutilised in season one. But now her potentials are coming out.
Sonakshi looks around: Nice. Not bad, Nikki. You decorated it very well. How many girls live here?
Nikki stammers: You saw the home naa. No one else lives here. You please go.
Sonakshi finds some trousers on the couch. She picks them up: You wear these?
Me: Facepalm no. 2. Observe and ask questions, but don't start fiddling with things. She is an adult and if she gets pissed off at you, you won't be able to get her back home.
Nikki takes those trousers from her: I can wear anything, my wish. Didn't you get me? I have a lot of work to do. You please go.
Sonakshi says: Okay, I am leaving.
Just then Nikki's boyfriend arrives: Nikki, grocery will come today at 2. You will be home, naa?
All three look at each other.
Then the boy breaks the ice: I am sorry, Nikki had no manners. I am Lakshya.
Sonakshi smiles and shakes his hand: Sonakshi.
Lakshya says: Nice to meet you. Welcome to our pad. Are you Nikki's friend?
Sonakshi says: Yes. You live here?
Lakshya gets confused.
Nikki says: He is my boyfriend and I live here with him.
Sonakshi feels awkward.
Lakshya says: I think you met after a long time. What am I doing here then? You guys talk. It was nice meeting you, Sonakshi.
Sonakshi says: Same here.
They shake hands once again and Lakshya kisses Nikki on her forehead and leaves.
Me: Sonakshi has to control her expression if she wants Nikki to be comfortable around her. Because right now, her expression is giving away her thoughts.
At Dixit house, Radha is feeding Vicky lovingly.
Mamaji taunts: Either I saw you feeding her or saw him eating without any work. What else do you do?
Radha taunts back: And we also just saw you blabbering.
Mamaji says: Radha, if you two had ever done any good deeds, I won't have to blabber.
Radha says: What wrong did we do this time?
Mamaji: You didn't do anything right either. When I saw those keys that are dangling on your waist, I feel surprised.
Radha: Why are you surprised? These keys were dangling here for 7 years. And that Bangalan has gifted me those keys herself.
Mamaji: She gave you the keys because she has a big heart. She knows how to respect elders. And she gave you and you took them back?
Vicky gets up and says: So what? Why won't she give them back?
Mamaji says: Because son...
Vicky: Because what? I know what you are going to say. That we have no right in this house, we should be grateful to them? But Papa, I want to tell you something. In the past 7 years, when Bua and Dev turned their back on this house, then Mummy and I took the responsibility of this house. Or this house would have broken apart long ago. And why should I care about them? Go ask Neha, Riya and Nikki how worshipful are their mother and brother. This house would have become ruins. That's why if anyone has any right on this house and these keys, it's my mother.
Elena comes there and stands by Mamaji.
Mamaji says: I don't feel like you are my son when I listen to you speaking.
Vicky: I also don't think you are my father when I listen to you.
Elena says: Vicky, how can you talk to Papa like that?
Vicky: Who told you to speak in the middle? And don't tell me how I should talk to anyone. Let's go Mummy. If I talk to these great people, it will be just waste of our time.
Vicky and Radha leave.
Me: This is why I was against Sonakshi returning the keys to Radha. They don't understand that these keys are not right, they are privilege and they come with responsibility of the entire family's well-being.
Radha can only think of Vicky's well-being. She won't think of anyone else's well-being. Then as a daughter-in-law, how could Sonakshi give her family's responsibility back to Radha knowing her reality towards criminal acts like drugging people?
It's equivalent to handing over hacking knife to a serial killer living in your house.
Sonakshi asks Nikki: No one else lives except you two here?
Nikki answers: Why would anyone else live here? Does anyone else live in your room except you and Dev bhai?
Sonakshi says: Now someone lives. Our daughter, Suhana.
Nikki becomes happy: Really? Congratulations.
Me: Yep, next time start with that and get the pictures ready on your phone. Nothing melts people faster than cute kids.
Sonakshi says: She is 6 years old. You will love her. By the way, how long have you been living here?
Nikki gets exasperated and sits on the couch: That was the reason that I didn't want to tell anyone anything. Whole life becomes a big question mark. You keep answering questions, but no one understands.
Sonakshi: But I just wanted to know that...
Nikki: Shh... Please di, I have now grown up for your lectures. And besides, it's better to live in with someone instead of marrying someone wrong. And no one can understand this better than you. Besides, I don't believe in the concept of marriage.
Sonakshi: But when love is true, then stories don't fade. Look at Dev and I. We stayed apart for so long, but now we are together.
Nikki: Good for you. I am not allergic to love. I love Lakshya. But because of marriage, you two stayed apart for so long. You two suffered so much. Because of marriage, I don't want to end my love. We are happy the way we are.
Me: First of all, Sonakshi, you are sounding too preachy like Ronita's mother.
Nikki is in a live-in relationship for a while now. You just returned in her life unexpectedly. I hope you didn't expect her to jump in joy the moment you landed on her doorstep?
And since when unconventional status is alien to you? You were the one in a live-in relationship with may be or may be not ex because of your daughter, no? He was even sleeping on your bed, by your side.
So don't be a hypocrite.
Secondly, if you want Nikki to trust you again, cut the preachy attitude and give her space. Who knows? May be they are both happy being in a relationship and may be they won't be later on.
Be the kind of family Bijoy was to you who didn't ask you questions when you decided to be a single mother, no matter how much he hated having your ex in your bedroom, didn't try to give you lecture on love and morality and when you decided to be together finally didn't try to stop you.
Sonakshi: Then you won't share your happiness with us? Those who are waiting for you at home, with them? With your mother and brother? Don't they matter?
Nikki: They used to. But when you left, Dev bhai went into such a depression that he went into denial. And when Maa saw him in depression, she also went in depression. She never cared about anyone except Dev bhai anyway. Then we three left. So we made our own life. This family, relationship are all talks. So that family and home don't matter to me. Besides, I am happy with my honest relationship. There is no betrayal nor show off. Whatever is in our heart, we say it. Besides, we don't want to live in a border where when we want, live in a relationship and whenever we want, forgot it.
Sonakshi says: Nikki, I think there is a confusion. Nikki, you are still the daughter of that house, Dev's sister. You should not break your relationship with your family like this. Whatever concern or complaint you have, share it. I would even tell you to tell everything to Maa and Dev.
Nikki: So that they can judge me and judge Lakshya? You please forget that you met me. You go back to your home happily. I have to go.
Sonakshi leaves.
Me: This is why I told you to not go there with preachy, judgy, moral police face. In fact, if I were you, I'd have gone there with poker face. When Nikki saw that she can't shock you with anything and you are willing to accept her choices, she would have relaxed around you. You can't relax around people you think are judging you.
Next time don't rush into meeting the sisters without being prepared. It's not instant noodles. You have to have patience.
Ishwari calls Sonakshi. She asks Sonakshi if she met Nikki. How is she.
Sonakshi says that she met her and talked to her. She is fine.
Ishwari feels relieved. She thinks that now that Sonakshi has talked to Nikki, she will be able to bring her back.
She asks her to come home. They will talk then.
Sonakshi feels worried.
Me: That's why I said not to don the Wonder Woman suit. It's difficult to carry the weight all the time. If you be a human being with all your flaws and glory, and you are allowed to be human and fail. But Wonder Woman can't fail because she is a super hero.
Bhaiya is in the office. Sonakshi comes there.
Bhaiya: Sonakshi, you are in the office? I thought you weren't coming to the office today?
Sonakshi says: I came to meet you.
Bhaiya: Say it clearly, you were missing me.
Sonakshi: May be?
Bhaiya lightly punches Sonakshi's arm: So you were missing your buddy, eh?
Sonakshi: Hummm... I do this for all my buddies (She shows lunch).
Bhaiya: Oh I forgot. There is a benefit of living with you. Come, let's eat. The lunch is making me hungry.
Sonakshi and Bhaiya sits on the sitting area.
Bhaiya excitedly opens his lunch and is happy to see Aloo Paratha and Paneer. All his favourites.
Sonakshi is thinking how to tell him about Nikki.
Bhaiya feeds Sonakshi food.
Bhaiya then eats himself. He says: The food is good. I am wondering when will you tell me what you came to tell me? The thing that is making you worry?
Sonakshi looks at Bhaiya surprised.
Me: Really? You got no poker face, Sonakshi. It's pretty easy to see that no one looks like they are pondering over global warming when they are sharing lunch with the man they love.
Mamaji and Ishwari are drinking tea. Mamaji is complaining about lack of sugar.
Just then Elena comes hopping: Buaji, Papa, guess what I have?
Ishwari tries to sneak a peek. Elena says no cheating.
Mamaji say: If you have brought it then it must be a lens or a bulb. Huh?
Elena says: No. Didn't I tell you that Mashi's book is being published? I got a copy of that book before launch.
Mamaji and Ishwari get excited.
Mamaji says: That's why you are so happy today, huh?
Me: Yes, looks like encyclopedia. This is not book. It looks more like omnibus.
Ishwari takes the book: Let me see it. Wow, such a big book. Ashaji wrote such a big book?
Mamaji: We are feeling so proud that we know such a big writer so closely.
Me: It certainly looks like Asha probably wrote one page a day since 7 years. But Mamaji, one doesn't become big writer by writing a big book. Let it get sold first.
Elena: Mashi had been trying to complete this book for years. But never got time. She finally finished the book. I am so proud of her. She is now not just a mother and wife, but also a writer. I wonder how she must be feeling...
Ishwari lovingly looks at the pages.
Mamaji says: Hard work always pays off.
Me: Mamaji is just a encyclopedia of cliches.
Ishwari: This is a very big thing. Now I will have to meet this great writer.
Elena says: Buaji, she wanted to do something for herself for a very long time which is hers. But she never had time. When she finally had time, she did it.
Ishwari says: This must be a very nice book, as nice as Ashaji. But it's in English so I won't be able to read it. Will you read it to me?
Elena says: Of course, Buaji. I will also get to read the book by doing this. We will read a few chapters everyday.
Ishwari thinks and says: What a great thing it is. A woman fulfilled her dream. Her name is now in this book.
Elena: She is very happy Dada told me. But she will get busy now. Now the book will be launched, then city tour and then she will have to write another book too.
Ishwari smiles.
Me: I think the idea has taken root. Now she will go after her dream.
At Bhaiya's office Bhaiya says: She is living in an apartment leaving hostel? Why didn't she tell anyone about it?
Sonakshi: Look, if you promise to not get angry, I will tell you everything. Just remember, she has now grown up. She is an adult. She can take her own decisions. Just remember this before I tell you.
Bhaiya: Tell me straight what's going on.
Sonakshi: Nikki had been living in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend for a while.
Bhaiya: With her boyfriend?
Sonakshi: I know that this is very difficult for you. But remember Nikki is already very far from us. We can't alienate her farther.
Bhaiya: Did you tell this to Maa?
Sonakshi: Not yet. I don't even know how to tell her this.
Me: She just might surprise you, Sonakshi. Unlike hot headed Bhaiya, Ishwari might fret but she is more concerned to get her daughter's home. She won't create problem before you have a chance to prepare her.
I am not sure about Bhaiya though. He is more like Bijoy than anyone else in the show. He is no less hot-headed than him when it comes to his family. You might just have the same life as Asha after all.
At Bose house, Bijoy is peeking at Asha's book. Dida and Asha are standing on the stairs watching him.
Dida asks Asha: Didn't he read your book yet?
Asha says: No. He had been peeking into it and walking around it. But he still hasn't read the book.
Dida giggles: I knew that he is a coward. He is scared that you might have wrote something good about someone else then what will he do.
She giggles some more.
Saurabh comes there: Maa, did you read what you wrote in this book?
Me: She wrote it, idiot. Of course she has read the book. No wonder Bijoy makes fun of you.
Asha says: What is written?
Saurabh: That means you didn't read it.
Dida asks: What is written there that you are making so much noise?
Bijoy taunts: She must have written about that neighbour who used to peek through the balcony. Did she write his name?
Saurabh: That I don't know. But whoever she has written about, if they read it, they are going to be very angry.
Asha and Dida look confused.
Saurabh: Wait, I am reading.
Dida says: Read it in Hindi.
Saurabh reads: This is not managing a house, it's called breaking house. I have never seen such an immature lady in my life who faints all the time and takes her son's side in everything and makes mountain out of a molehill. There is also a Mami who keeps brainwashing everyone. She never wishes good of anyone. She also has a son who...
Asha and Dida look worried.
Bijoy says: Stop stop. Asha, what did you write?
Asha says: Arre, I didn't write this. I wrote all this in the first draft which I cancelled. I don't know how it got published.
Bijoy: Asha, it should not have published. We should call the publisher.
Asha: How will we stop now? By now so many copies must have got printed. This book was sitting in front of you. Couldn't you have read it?
Bijoy: You are blaming me? Wait a minute. I am calling the publisher.
Asha: It's of no use, Bijoy. It's too late now.
Me: Sorry Saurabh. I am taking the idiot tag back. It now has a better contender. Asha, here you go, idiot.
Who the eff sends off the final draft without reading it? No, which author does it?
Asha, you idiot. Be glad that Ishwari can't read English. But your daughter has money. Call her, make her pay for all the discarded version of the book and send the correct draft.
Also, ask Elena to get a different copy before Vicky or Bhaiya read the book.
But I must say, I have known people like you. You were all nice and polite on Ishwari and Mami's face while writing this behind their back.
That's why I prefer people like Bijoy. He was nasty to them on their face, He wasn't one thing on their face and another behind their back.
I am not saying they deserved it. But you are no less two-faced than Mami which I always knew but most people didn't know.
Bhaiya is fretting in the office. Sonakshi is working but also keeping an eye on Bhaiya.
Suddenly he grabs his wallet, cell phone and keys and leaves.
Sonakshi gets up and thinks: Mr. Dixit is making the same mistake again for which he was warned against. I know this is about Nikki. But you could also handle this in a matured manner. But you won't listen I know.
Me: What the, Sona? You know Bhaiya and his acts. Then why aren't you stopping him? Why are you letting him ruin everything? He will ruin it, then he will come back and you will show how good you are in fixing even a worse mess by bringing Nikki back, right?
In the meanwhile, he will look an utter duffer. Which he is. But you are letting him make a fool of himself. As a wife, it's your responsibility to protect his respect just as it's his responsibility to protect your respect.
If you weren't here or didn't see him leaving, I won't blame you. But you saw him leaving and did nothing. So whatever happens, you are equally responsible just like he was responsible in season one when he knew that you were being insulted and did nothing.
And if anyone had any suspicion about how similar Bhaiya is to Bijoy, please see the evidence. But everyone said that Bijoy doesn't let his adult daughter live in peace. Did Bhaiya let his adult sister live in peace?
Yep. Bhaiya is just an younger version of Bijoy which I had said long back.
Bhaiya goes straight to Nikki's home and rings the bell.
Lakshya opens the door. Bhaiya comes in.
Lakshya recognises Bhaiya: Mr. Dev Dixit, right? Hi, please come in.
Bhaiya says: I came here to meet Nikki. Please call her...
Lakshya: I know you are her elder brother. That's why I am asking you to come in. Please come in.
Lakshya says: Nikki isn't at home. But she will come soon. Please sit.
Bhaiya sits.
They look totally awkward.
Bhaiya asks: How long you had known Nikki?
Lakshya: For three years. And how long have you known Nikki?
Bhaiya glares.
Lakshya says: Bad joke. I knew her for three years and we are dating for two years. Will you take something? Tea or coffee or something?
Bhaiya: No.
Lakshya: I was going out for some work...
Bhaiya: It's okay. You go. I will wait here.
Lakshya: No no, it's okay. I will wait. Our elders say that when someone comes home, we should offer them something. You sit here, I will get a glass of water for you. Just a second.
Bhaiya is feeling more and more uncomfortable and also making Lakshya uncomfortable.
Just then Nikki comes.
Lakshya opens the door. He tells her: Someone came to meet you. Don't be shocked.
Nikki is still shocked and sad to see Bhaiya. Bhaiya is also sad to see Nikki.
They look at each other.
Me: Keep it cool. Keep it cool. Where is the eff is Sonakshi? Her toddler is out without a leash.
PRECAP: Bhaiya wants to talk to Nikki.
Nikki says: Whatever you want to say, you can say it in front of Lakshya.
Bhaiya: This is our family matter. What's the need to bring this guy in the middle?
Nikki gets angry: His name is Lakshya. And he is my family and my boyfriend.
Lakshya: If you can't remember my name...
Bhaiya: You shut up.
Nikki: Bhaiya... If you have something to say, say here or you may leave.
Bhaiya is shocked.
Me: But I am not, Bijoy part 2. Where is Asha part 2? She seems to have washed her hands off you already. It's not easy to raise a overgrown toddler. You can neither treat them like kids nor you can treat them like adults. They are just permanent liabilities and you are on permanent baby sitting duty. Well, your choice, Sonakshi.
NO RULES!!! YAY!!!
The best approach then is to,
1. Be prepared for all sorts of changes (personal, professional, lifestyle)
2. Be accepting instead of judgemental. Nothing pushes away people than people being judgemental.

NO RULES!!! YAY!!!
I am a silent reader of all your posts. I just read the WU in IF. I can understand the sisters feeling. How they would have felt when their mother chose to ignore them and cry over Dev. ishu maiya has really never cared for her daughters. If Bhaiya is guilty, so is great Ishu maiya. Both need to work towards mending relations with the girls. No idea why Maiya is not feeling guilty of ignoring her girls.
ReplyDeleteI have not watched the last
couple of episodes, so may be I might have missed something.
I agree. Ishwari is as guilty as Bhaiya for always running after him and pandering to him. It was her responsibility to care for her daughters when her son fell apart. But in season one (even a while in season two), she was all about my Dev, my baby, my coochie poo.
DeleteSo of course, Bhaiya needs to ask forgiveness and Ishwari also needs to ask for forgiveness. Just like she understood her mistakes regarding Sonakshi, she needs to know that by constantly running after Bhaiya and neglecting her daughters, she didn't do any of them any favours.
If you want to read about the past episodes, my posts are all in this blog. Feel free to check them out.
I have read all your posts, but was too lazy to comment. But somehow off late, things are too hard to digest. I hate the way it had been portrayed that only son deserves all attention. Strong women go weak on their knees for a dashing handsome guy.
DeleteWhat caused the sudden change in all dynamics between people? I am so lost.
Trust me, hun. We are lost too. We are just taking one episode at a time. Because every time something starts to make sense, they come up with something that pretty much makes all the previous episodes nonsense.
DeleteSoumya here
ReplyDeleteOh WOW!
What a change in Ish!Havent been regular in reading WUs past few weeks....but I am liking how the relationship between Ish and Sona is shaping up....I still have some issues with meddling Sona...
and also liking how the Dev and Sona's relationship is shaping up....nice to see them grow up...'
will try to catch up latest episodes...
Thanks Tia for all the updates, stories and titbits your write and share! :)
Thanks you, Soumya. Yes, as much as I am liking Ishwari and Sonakshi's bonding, I have problem with Sonakshi being Mrs. Fix it from day one.
DeleteAll growth is from Sonakshi's end. Because Bhaiya is back in same business as before. This time to screw up whatever Sonakshi managed to fix.
And here we go again. Except this time the baby sitter folded her hands to let the overgrown toddler screw up some more for her to go charge to the rescue.
Sonakshi prefers mission impossibles. Otherwise, things were getting fixed too soon.
Update done.
ReplyDeleteOh...wow...
ReplyDeleteDevs feelings and concern for his sisters resurfaces after 7 years. So, he can judge people and get upset because he was woken up from sleep by his nosey fix-all wife/exwife.This is not beautifully flawed.... it's hypocrisy..... sonakshi will take care of that too.... we will now have a lecture on why girls can't have live-ins....bcos that's not sanskari. but wait, what about all the Casanova philanderings of Dev ....but again he's man, na?!?..
Atleast his sister was steady with someone for over 2 years
Yep. But then Bhaiya was always chauvinist. He made a ruckus over Jatin while entering a hotel room with another woman over Sonakshi's nose. Even now he refuses to talk about 7 years of philandering giving excuse of darkness. So his attitude doesn't surprise me.
DeleteWhat surprises me is so-called modern woman Sonakshi's judgemental attitude. By the way she was supposedly a married woman while her husband entered a hotel room with another woman and she didn't blink an eye claiming separation/divorce. Then that said so-called husband moves in her room under her father's roof and suddenly they are kind of together but not really. Then when she again wants to cling to Bhaiya, suddenly she is again Mrs. Dixit because lo and behold, they never got divorced.
Considering her history, her preachy attitude doesn't apply to Nikki.
Nikki spoke on point. But also at the same time, I hope she truly loves that guy and not in a relationship to prove a point. And I also hope she no longer takes any support from Bhaiya. Because if Bhaiya still pays her bills, then he can be as chauvinist as he wants and she has to take it. You can't be dependent on someone and claims your right to be independent.
The bills part will be the loop hole used by many people. But let me tell you, he didn't do anything extraordinary for her or his family. He pulled them out of poverty, but ghar la bada beta yehi to karega! His sisters should be grateful to him but he cannot force his will on them, because he footed their bills during their growing up years. He threw a ruckus over jatin, remember the way he manhandled sonakshi anytime she said what he didn't like...but they are in their so called lau mode, na. He's a sadist and she's masochistic ...so they fit each other very well.but it can't be said about the others
DeleteSeriously hypocrisy to another level. Mr Dev Dixit can sleep with multiple women and almost conduct a bigamy. That's lau. But his sister can't have a live in relationship with her boyfriend. I really disliked the way they showed Sona and bhaiyas expressions as if Nikki has done some crime and she is going on a wrong path. Being judgemental without knowing the facts. And yes Nikki's dialogues yest were fan. I hope she sticks to her thoughts and doesn't say sorry for her actions. Bcoz on this show everyone else says sorry for bhaiyas mistakes
DeleteI'd disagree with one point and that is the paying their cost of living after they get their education. I am sorry, as long as someone else is paying for one's lifestyle, they will have their say. Just like as long as we live with our parents and they are paying for our lifestyle, we have to listen to what they are saying even if we share our opinion. Even parents are not obligated to pay for their children once they finish their education. After that they should get a job and support themselves, specially if they want to live their life on their own terms.
DeleteThat being said, forget everyone else, at least Bhaiya and Sonakshi have no right to pass judgement on Nikki and her relationship. Because not only she has a longer relationship with that guy, but also because their own life hadn't been a shining example to live up to. Not to mention that she is an adult and as such has full right to live her life as she sees fit.
Also, considering Sonakshi and Bhaiya's relationship status 95% of the time was under "It's complicated" section, they have no right to preach love or marriage.
Hey Tia. Hows you? First of all I can totally relate to Nikki. She has seen two relationships fail, Neha's and Dev's so if she says she doesn't believe in marriage, its totally understandable. Broken relationships can have a huge impact on impressionable youngsters. Secondly When it comes to holding Dev responsible for distancing his sisters , the writers need to put in some context here. Did the sisters try to reach out to him when he was at his lowest? If they did and were pushed away than we can understand the hurt.We know Dev never relied on anyone for emotional support except Sonakshi, it's characteristically natural for him to push everyone away. According to me the writers never fully explored the sibling bond in season 1. Even during the first breakup the sisters seemed to be oblivious to Dev's suffering.
DeleteI agree, Sandy. I need some context to the Sisters' efforts for their brother. But I don't blame Nikki for that too much because she was young and she would have been confused. If the sisters did nothing, then also I blame Neha and Riya because they were older and they should have supported Bhaiya.
DeleteBut as you said, as an impressionable teenager Nikki would have been confused and might have equated her family being the kind of family which does not let love survive. We can't blame her for reaching that conclusion. She doesn't know how much Ishwari has changed recently. In fact, if she sees Ishwari focusing on something else other than obsessing over Bhaiya, that might also help her to realise that Ishwari has changed.
Tia, excellent points as usual.
ReplyDeleteExactly the reason why Sona shouldnot have given the keys. Her reason for RR hurt was good but then she shud have realised that RR is not the deserving one bcoz of her attitude and thinking.
OMG, so Asha thot this abt the Dixits...gud to kno tht..LOL
Coming to Dixit sisters, I'm actually appalled at how they r blaming Dev-Sonakshi.
Though it stands to reason, they r disappointed with their mother, who seeing Dev in depression herself went into depression and didnt bother with Riya,Nikki.
But I cant stand them blaming Dev Dixit for a minute. For once in his life, when he was so down, depressed, wasnt it the sisters duty to stand by their bro during his difficult time? The same brother who was responsible fulfilling all their wishes and securing their future financially.
I'm sorry I didnt actually identify with the cribbing Nikki,Riya r doing regd Dev-Sona. Nikki actually accused Sonakshi nver called back..What the hell!!! She n her family were thrown out with nowhere to go at the middle of the night...and she had the esponsibility to keep in touch with Nikki..why? Why cudnt Niki sitting in the comfort of IN try to call her back or locate her? Did Riya , Nikki lack the resources, will or permission to find and contact Sonakshi? They did absolutely nothing. So, they are completely wrong in blaming Dev-Sona. If they hav to blame, blame Ishwari.
Having said this, it doesnt make Sonakshi any less meddling. But she was ok with Nikki.
As for Dev, after being normal again, his previous eldest bro instinct is back and so the natural instinct of questioning Nikki. I understand where he is coming from but he shud understand Nikki as well and why she did what she did. Probably Sonakshi will handle this. Dev clearly lacks the maturity to handle Nikki as of now.
Thanks Gauri.
DeleteYep, I agree with most of your points. Although I believe that Nikki can't be hold responsible for not calling Sonakshi for two reasons.
1. She was too young. Her family was falling apart and if you recall, she wasn't there when Sonakshi left. So it's possible that she didn't hear the right version of the story. In fact I won't be surprised if no one ever told her about the eviction and put all blame on Sonakshi. If you recall there was no one there who spoke the truth or willing to face the truth at that time in Dixit house.
2. Later Sonakshi moved to Kolkata so she won't have had Delhi contact number anymore. But Nikki still lived in Delhi. So unless she changed her cell phone no, Sonakshi would have known her contact information. But she still didn't try to contact her. We know why. But Nikki doesn't know. So her anger is valid.
But Riya and Neha should have tried to help Bhaiya and we need to know if they did and were rejected over and over and then finally giving up.
If they did try to help Bhaiya, then they are not to be blamed either. But if they did nothing to help Bhaiya, then they are also responsible for this separation. I hope CVs show their flashbacks.
Ishwari and Bhaiya are definitely to be blamed for sure for having such an exclusive relationship that when Bhaiya fell apart, Ishwari did too. But again Sonakshi can't be blamed for not continue to put up with disrespect and dishonour.
However, the goal right now is to get the sisters back. Considering what Bhaiya did, it's useless to expect him to handle anything with a cool head. So again Sonakshi has to jump in. Although, I still don't understand that despite knowing what Bhaiya is about to do, why didn't she stop him and ask him to let her handle this?
Tia,
ReplyDeletePeople like us are a minority. 95per cent of the crowd on If are defending Dev abt how Nikki is wrong. I mean the go out of their way, dig thoughts, analyzes which even the cvs would not have thought of. I mean i always feel this, Dev needs to stop thinking the whole world is out to harm the people he loves. It happened with jatin, and it's happening with lakshya. He has no right to judge him and behave rudely with him. This is what I don't like abt him. While they try to show sonakshi as perfect(which is clearly not my opinion) they show dev as a frog in the pond, someone who can't see reason when it comes to things he so badly wants.
I can't talk about others, but in my opinion, all Nikki's points are valid today. I didn't find her points unreasonable given her age and situation.
DeleteWhat I found annoying though is how Sonakshi was all judgemental moral police on Nikki considering Bhaiya's past and Bhaiya charging in after Nikki without finding out about Lakshya.
He seemed to me a respectful, level-headed guy. He was not intimidated by Bhaiya either. So far he had been polite and nice to both Bhaiya and Sonakshi. They are the one who barged into their home. Bhaiya needs to shed his attitude if he wants Nikki to listen to him.
But considering these two are consenting adults and by all appearance very happy with each other for two years (certainly more steady and long lasting couple than Bhaiya and Sonakshi in first glance), Sonakshi and Bhaiya should learn from them instead trying to preach them about relationship and love.
U know what Tia, I loved the lines given to Ria. Maine sonakshi ka kuch nahi bigaada toh she does not need to forgive me.
ReplyDeleteRea was always good to sonakshi. Ish, Rr and Neha are the ones to blame.
True. Riya doesn't need Sonakshi's forgiveness. But Bhaiya and Ishwari certainly needs Riya's forgiveness and if Riya didn't try to help Bhaiya at all in the past, she also needs Bhaiya's forgiveness. Because she was older and should have tried to help Bhaiya like he took care of her.
DeleteI can call Dev Dixit, blame him for every other mess but never for not caring for his mother or sisters. Dev actually cared for his sisters like a father figure. Particularly for Riya,Nikki.
ReplyDeleteI wud have liked to see them returning the favour...love him back or support him when he needed them the most. Love shud never be conditional.
I cant even think of leaving my beloved ones when they r in depression, forget blaming them for not being there to share my happiness.
Riya,Nikki have right to be happy. They married /in a relationship and are happy. Its fine till they started blaming Sonakshi-Dev and talked rudely to them. Thats not done.
Their rude behavior is not justified. They cant always expect to be baby-sitted by Dev-Sona. Arent they grown up enuf to make a call to Sonakshi or sympathise with Dev when he was depressed? Thats not asking too much.
I find them complaining about Dev not doing his duties for his sisters very hypocritical when both the sisters have hardly done any sisterly duties towards Dev. I, for one, dont believe in the theory that only elder sibling has duties and the younger ones have none.
I agree. Bhaiya was an excellent son and brother. No one can deny that. But I'd definitely want to see the Sisters' flashback to know if they tried to help Bhaiya at all.
DeleteHowever, if their only complaint is that Bhaiya did not show up for their wedding when he was in depression, then it not only sounds selfish and petty, it also sounds whining of a spoiled brat.
I can believe Neha to be a brat. But Riya showed more maturity in the past.
But at the same time, I don't expect them to behave nicely with Sonakshi since neither Riya nor Nikki were there when Sonakshi came the last time to return the money and to inform them that Dev threw them out on the street. Correct me if I am mistaken.
So I doubt any of Dixit family would have painted a flattering picture of Sonakshi. In fact, I would not doubt if Ishwari, Vicky and Radha painted her as the wicked witch. So their anger on her is justified because she has hurt Bhaiya and as a result Bhaiya hurt them. They need to know the truth and someone should come clean.
Coming to Nikki-Lakshya.
ReplyDeleteNikki, as an adult has every right to do as she pleases. Its her choice completely.
Though Indian society has taboos associated with live-in relationships and they r not completely accepted yet. So, I understand Dev's reaction here.
But the issue here is Nikki and her emotions. If she loves Lakshya and is happy with the settlement, let it be. She shud know of the consequences of her actions and shud be well prepared to face them as well.
How I wished Sonakshi wudnt interfere here...well, thts a wish to wish for.
I understand the society taboos regarding live in relationships. But in Mumbai and Delhi, they are not rarity. Trust me, I have seen and heard them and no one lynch mobbed them. And that's obviously not the case here.
DeleteBut what I have problem with Bhaiya is his impulses. His aim is not to be a moral police. His aim is to get Nikki back in his life. I have said it in yesterday's post, that the goal and intention determines the process.
If his intention is to preach to Nikki, he did right. But if he wants her back in his life, that's not the way to go considering his own acts in the past 7 years. He is a public and popular figure in Delhi. So his numerous affairs would have made gossip pages just as his relationship with Sonakshi did in season one. Nikki can very well use it against him.
Hi gauri,
ReplyDeleteAgree with your points, but I think the sisters problem is that dev emotionally distanced himself, rather than shurking his responsibilities. Also ish has some blame in it. Just because Dev distanced himself form her she had to remember she had 3 daughters.
But to the part of sonakshi not interfering, come on she 's a TV bahu. Interference is in her blood. Very irritating I tell u.
Hi Mily,
DeleteHonestly I fail to understand Dev Dixit. He is a mystery still to me.
But his own sisters can know this much abt him that he is broke completely...both emotionally and morally. He was probably behaving that way with them for the very first time, and it wudnt have been difficult to guess the reason was his fall out with Sonakshi.
Ishwari is solely to blame. Her daughters. Her responsibilities towards them. A mother ignoring her other kids in the grief of one is not done. Ish actually broke Dev for the future of her daughters and then, when Dev behaved unexpectedly ,cut himself off all family ties, Ish too didnt care for her daughters. To summarise, Ishwari is the sole one responsible for all miseries her children face. Dv was broke bcoz she chose her daughters security over his happiness, trust. Sisters r broke bcoz she chose to ignore them bcoz of Dev's depression. Its kind of deadlock...created by Ishwari.
@Mily, yep. I think so too. They might be thinking why Bhaiya distanced himself from them, specially Riya and Nikki when they didn't do anything. Neha has no one to blam but herself. But Riya and Nikki never hurt Sonakshi or Bhaiya. Although I hope Riya tried to help Bhaiya.
Delete@Gauri, I agree with you. I have also said it before that the most blame here lies on Ishwari. Her past behaviour towards her daughters combined with her inability to handle her children once Dev distanced himself are the contributing factors here.
But one thing I like about this show is that at least in terms of Bhaiya, Sonakshi and the sisters, no one is completely wrong and no one is totally right. They are all somewhat right and somewhat wrong. But I really want to see the Sisters' flashback and what happened then exactly.
@Tia. I admire the show for this simple reason that no one is a hero or heroine though Sonakshi appears just on the borderline. But she too has her weaknesses as in meddling in other's lives.
DeleteSisters story is waiting to be shown. Based on the last two epis and Riya,Nikki's reaction to Sonakshi, I found it irritating.
Agreed neither of them may know what happened.
Agreed Nikki was younger and her age,she probably lacked the sensibility to stand for his bro.
Still it doesnt justify how rudely Riya talked with Sonakshi. You dont need to be rude to get your point across. If she tried but was shooed away by Dev, even then it doesnt explain why she cudnt be cordial yet assertive and let Sonakshi know that she shud not cross her limit. CVs can show anything tomorrow base on audience reaction but as of now, for someone as sensible as Riya, I had expected better.
As for Nikki, given her age, I hold her less responsible but still she is no toddler and 7 yrs is a long time to grow up or realise her bro's pain. Now, she is 24. Yet she is no better.
All her childhood she was pampered, loved and cared for. For once, her bro and mom ignored her and she doesnt want a family...2-3 yrs of bitterness can erase 16-18yrs of love...is love so feeble that one condition is broken and you let go of your sibling ,lose faith in family? I can understand her bitterness towards Ishwari but I cant understand her behavior for Dev/Sona...it comes across one of a spoilt brat who runs away leaving the home at the single sight of acrimony.
Hummm... Fair enough. I respect your opinion. I may not agree for now since I don't have the full information. I'd want to know what really happened 7 years ago before I make up my mind. :)
