Tia's Thread - The Escapists!!!

I had been talking about just how incompatible Bhaiya and Sonakshi are.

But since today they decided to latch onto each other again, I thought I'll point out the one and only compatibility they have with each other. Well, apart from the obvious physical part.

It's that they are both escapists.

But in two different ways. 

By definition, escapists means someone who seeks distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially in the form of entertainment or fantasy.

But escapists are also those who pretends to ignore the unpleasant reality and those who run the moment they have to face adverse situation leaving behind others to face the consequences.

In short, whom we call in Hindi, bhagoda!!!

Bhaiya is an escapist. Why? Because if you look back, every time a negative situation happened in his life, first he pretended that he could not see it or didn't know about it (Sona's insults post marriage) which he later revealed that he knew everything but just didn't want to deal with it, then when things escalated he tried to "fix" it with lies hoping to hide the situation with extra butter on top (Sona's growing anger in Shimla and his attitude towards her), when things were undeniable or can't be hidden any longer he runs away leaving behind others to answer on his behalf (Ishwari's truth, and today his own deceit).

Sonakshi is also an escapist. But of a different sort. She doesn't run away from the problem. She faces them. But when she really wants something which goes against her self-respect, dignity and sense of justice and truth taught by Bijoy, she modifies the reality so that she can convince herself that she is not cheating her own moral code by taking this step.

Kind of like when someone who grew up being taught to respect relationship falls for a married man and becomes the other woman convincing herself that the man must not love his wife to cheat on her and thus she is not betraying her moral code by being the other woman. After all everything is fair in love and war.

I can bet you that this phrase, "Everything is fair in love and war" is a phrase invented by an escapist who didn't want to be held accountable for their actions.

Coming back to the topic, so it turns out that until Sonakshi can't ignore Bhaiya's reality any longer, she will shut down her senses including her brain to get Bhaiya. Which a lot of women in shitty relationships do. 

And Bhaiya will always run at the first sign of trouble even if he himself was responsible for it leaving Sonakshi and his family alone to face it.

But as we say, you can fool yourself as long as the truth is not shining bright in your eyes. 

I wonder how long it will take for Sonakshi to get tired of Bhaiya's escape act before her escapism can't fool her anymore?

If I was a betting person, then in real life, it would be as soon as the novelty of raising a permanent toddler wears off.

But this time, she will have no way out. You can only expect to be given so many chances for the exact same stupidity.

So ladies and gentlemen, enjoy the fluffy clouds and unicorn for a limited time. Because life hits after the wedding party is over. And I bet you that with these two, it will be a lifetime of escape act from the reality.

EPISODE: The episode starts with Nisha is pissed off. She says: Why did you betrayed me Dev? You kept lying to me constantly. You kept telling me that Sonakshi was just a friend. 

Bhaiya: Listen to me.

Nisha: I don't want to listen to anything. You used me to confirm your own feelings. You were confused. But you have no right to hurt someone else's feelings.

Bhaiya pretends innocence. Besides what would he have said? That yes, what she is accusing are all true? That she was the collateral damage?

Me: Nisha, my sweet, Bhaiya was not confused ever. He was just using you as collateral damage. Now he is pretending innocence instead of looking guilty. That's his reality. He just looks like a hero. But actually is nothing more than a lier and user.

I frigging love this girl. Someone make a show on her. I will watch it. This is how a strong woman looks and sounds like who can call a spade a spade and doesn't compromise her self-respect and dignity to "settle" for less than her due. Bravo!!! 


Nisha walks to Ishwari and says: I am sorry aunty. I can't marry your son. Because your son still loves his ex-wife and I don't want to be the girl whom your son will leave one day to run to his ex-wife. Me and my family have faced a lot of defame. You have put a big stain on our reputation. It's enough now.

Ishwari has her head down. Asha is looking at Sona.

Me: Nisha, if you thought that Ishwari didn't know what was going on, think again. In fact the way she is standing by her ex daughter-in-law's mother who came to attend her ex son-in-law's wedding should give you clear indication that your and your family's humiliation was a set up. 

Asha is seriously looking at Sona as if she expects her to jump on Bhaiya now that the way is open. I swear this woman is an insult to womankind.


Then Nisha comes back to Sonakshi and Bhaiya: You two deserve each other. Whether you to get back together or not, I will pray that no one else comes between you two to get insulted like this.

Still Sonakshi is looking worried. But not an ounce of guilt on Bhaiya's face. 

Radha tries to cover up by approaching Nisha's mother. 

She asks Nisha's mother to ask Nisha to sit down and talk.

Nisha's mother says: Whatever Nisha is doing is right. We have heard enough of these two's story of friendship. 

Radha then turns to Ishwari: Jiji, did you see how Sonakshi ruined our reputation? I had told you to keep these Bengalis out of our house

Ishwari says: Bhabhi...

Sonakshi turns to Bhaiya and says: Dev, I didn't know. I am really sorry.

Bhaiya looks at Sonakshi: Sorry?

Sonakshi: I am truly ashamed. I didn't know this would happen. I am sorry.

Bhaiya: You are feeling sorry because of what happened? You are feeling ashamed? You are feeling bad after my engagement broke? I don't want to talk to you.

Me: Yes Bhaiya. Tell her how she disappointed you by having a conscience. She deserves to be punished for feeling bad for two families facing social and public humiliation. She deserves to be charged for feeling bad for an innocent girl being deceived. How could she not be like her mother and start picking out her wedding outfits right now? I mean you obviously feel no guilt. 


Bhaiya is about to run. Ishwari calls him. 

But he says: I don't know, Maa. I am just going away from here.

He runs while Sonakshi calls behind him and Nisha and her family including all the guests are still standing there. He runs leaving his family behind to face whatever insults Nisha's family chooses to dish out to them. 

Me: I can only hear one song in my head now.

Soha runs to her dad: Papa, why are you going? 

Bhaiya: Beta, I have to run before Nisha's family takes out their sandals to beat me up. You take care of yourself, okay? With me as your father, you have to be self-sufficient t to raise yourself since I will be running at the first sign of trouble.

Me: Bhaiya didn't say it. But he could have if someone had given him truth serum.

Golu is asking Elena: BigCha is going away again?

Elena makes exasperated expression.

Me: Now Golu is used to Bhaiya's disappearing acts. Soha will also get used to it.

Bhaiya runs.

Nisha's mother says: This is the limit. We got insulted and their drama is still going on.

Ishwari folds her hands. Asha stops her. She says: Nothing can be worse than what happened today for any parents. And this is just not Dev or his family's fault, but also Sonakshi and our family's fault. That's why I am folding hands and saying sorry.

Me: Of course Asha will say this. The engagement broke. She came with that intention here. Now that she can force her daughter into a relationship, she can afford to gain some points pretending humility. 

Golu says: We are sorry too. 

Soha says: Nisha aunty, I am very sorry. You got hurt because of my family. But please forgive my Mummy Papa. 

Radha claims complete innocence in all this.

Me: Great. Everyone is saying sorry. But did Bhaiya say sorry even once for betraying and lying to Nisha? Oh wait. He ran leaving his family including his 8 years old daughter to apologize for his deeds. What a great man.


Nisha tells Sonakshi: How long will this continue? How many girls will be betrayed like this? This happened because you could not decide what you feel for Dev. Tell me Sonakshi, how long will you hide your feelings for Dev? Look into my eyes and answer.

Sonakshi stays silent. 

Ishwari comes to Nisha and says: Nisha, I am asking for forgiveness for whatever happened to you. Trust me, Sonakshi is not such a girl who hurts others for her own happiness. She can't see anyone hurt. She can do nothing of that sort. 

Nisha says: You are right, aunty. Someone who can't take a stand for her love, can't do anything else. I have seen first time someone getting their love married to another. Either the love is there or not. There's nothing in between. I hope you will understand me. So that you don't ruin other's life like mine. 

Nisha asks her parents to leave. Nisha and her family leave.

Me: That's precisely what I had been saying. People are forcing Sonakshi to think that she loves Bhaiya when she is not ready or even wants to be in a relationship because Bhaiya wants to be in a relationship. 

As Nisha said, either love is there or it isn't there. But here seems it's all about repeating something to someone until they start to believe that what being said must be true.


Radha and Vicky are upset. Ishwari looks at Sona worried.

Bhaiya is lying on his bike and thinking what Sonakshi said. 

Mamaji is telling Ishwari to keep patience. Everything happened so far as she wanted and that's exactly what will happen in future as well. But for this she has to keep courage.

Ishwari says when you see your child in pain, you lose courage. Why she is not able to do anything good in her Dev's life? 

Me: Because your approach was wrong, Ishwari. You can't build your son's happiness with someone else's daughter's pain. You forced a relationship that could only sustain if it had grown organically. Now it's out of your control. 

Mamaji continues: Don't say this. You got Sonakshi and Dev together.

Ishwari: And what's the result? Dev left home? You can say anything, Bhaiya. But it's all my fault. I started this marriage talk and that's why this happened. 

Mamaji: And that's why Sonakshi came to meet Dev. Why do you keep blaming yourself?

Ishwari: Then who should I blame, Bhaiya? Because of me, an innocent girl's heart turned into stone.

Mamaji says: Today's reality is that you want to bring them together. You want their love to win. After so many years, these two are standing on the same crossroads. There must be a reason for it. 


Ishwari thinks. 

Me: Blame your son, Ishwari who took this game to this level. He was the one leading another woman to make his ex jealous. He should have melted Sonakshi's heart with consideration, support and honesty. Instead he played games. Now you have to force Sonakshi to take the final steps which had he done the effort, she would have taken on her own. 

Bhaiya is still lying on his bike. Suddenly he gets up and calls his travel agent to book a flight for him. Any long distance one will do. He asks him to hurry.

Me: Wait a minute. Isn't this the guy who wanted Suhana to stay with him forever? Now that she is staying at his house with him, he wants to go as far as he can because he didn't get the results he expected out of the game he started. So soon the novelty to become a father wear off? It's good that Sonakshi wanted to be a mother, no? She had no running option. Otherwise, Suhana would have been an orphan despite having two parents.


At Bose house, Bijoy is complaining that the pizza guy didn't come yet. He comes to the dining table complaining where Saurabh and Ronita are sitting with the pizza in front of them. Bijoy is happy to see the pizza. He eats happily.

Then he wonders why Saurabh and Ronita are not eating the pizza. 

Dida says that only Dida and Bijoy will eat that pizza. Not Saurabh and Ronita.

Bijoy laughs: Maa, I could have believed if you had said that this pizza is fat free. But I can't believe that pizza is here and Ronita and Saurabh won't eat it.

Saurabh says: Yes, really. We won't it.

Ronita sadly shakes her head.

Dida says that these two have decided that until Dev and Sona get back together, these two won't eat anything.

Bijoy: What?

Me: Yes, me too. What? Are you frigging kidding me? Talk about drama!!!


Bijoy says: Okay, I am calling Sona then to wait for a month to get back together with Dev.

Ronita wonders: Why baba?

Bijoy: So that you two can reduce 10 kilos each.

Dida and Bijoy laugh.


At Dixit house, Elena tried calling Bhaiya, he didn't pick up her call.

Mamaji got the same response.

Ishwari asks Sonakshi. She also shakes her head. Ishwari is worried.

Asha says: It's not Dev's fault Ishwari ji. He is angry and upset. Give him some time. He will come back home.

Ishwari nods her head.

Me: Tell you what. Keeping in mind Bhaiya's running tendencies, why don't you fit a micro chip in him like people put on spies to track their movements? He can then run anywhere, you will know where he is located. Was it a good solution or what? I mean Bhaiya's sulking will never end. The moment things don't go as he wants them to go, he will do a runner. So better be prepared for next time. 


Radha's tone goes taunting to super polite now that the tide has turned.

She tells Ishwari that Dev had ran like this before. He will come back like before. She then asks Asha to go home. They are there for Ishwari.

Asha says that they will go home when Dev returns.

Mamaji wonders what is going on in Bhaiya's head. He sometimes disappear when he is angry. At least he should inform us that he is alright.

Me: what is going on in Bhaiya's mind? Allow me, Mamaji. He is probably thinking, "Shit, I made such great plans. But Sonakshi didn't fall for it. She has more will power and conscience than I expected. Let's see how I can increase the blackmailing quota. Whom does Sonakshi loves for sure? Suhana. And Suhana loves me. So if I threaten to leave Suhana when she could lose her recently found daddy, then Sonakshi will definitely come running to make sure Suhana doesn't end up losing her dad." 


Asha taunts Sonakshi: You are right. Our children thinks what they are doing is right. They think that they can solve any problem on their own. They don't understand that staying silent is not the solution to all problems.

Me: Wait a minute. Wasn't you the one Asha who repeatedly advised Sonakshi to stay silent in her marriage and not to create any fuss? Wasn't you who told her to not talk with Dev what she thinks and walk away silently even if she doesn't like his attitude for Soha's sake? Today she is not speaking as per your wish, now you are preaching the value of speaking her mind? You bloody hypocrite!!!


Mamaji says to Ishwari: Dev has managed himself very well so far. He will manage himself in future as well. (He looks at Sonakshi) Believe me, whoever is meant to return in this house, will return.

Asha gets up: No. You still have nothing to say Sona?

Sonakshi stammers.

Asha: Shut up, Sona. I became your friend from your mother. I made you understand. But you are still stubborn. Then fine, Sonakshi. Understand you are alone now. I can't be by your side anymore. Whatever is happening is because of you.

Ishwari stops her.

Me: Wow!!! Brilliant, Asha. So let me get this straight.

When Bijoy tried to talk to Sona even seeing she was upset, he is a clueless father.

When you are charging Sonakshi despite seeing her upset, you are a great mother.

When Bijoy said that he won't support Sona if she goes back to Dev, he doesn't respect his daughter's decision.

When you say that you won't stand by Sonakshi if she doesn't fall into Bhaiya's arms, you are a perfect mother.

When Bijoy refuses to be happy with Sonakshi's decision, he is selfish.

When you refuse to accept her decision, you are selfless? 

What you are Asha is exactly what you accused Bijoy to be - a manipulative hypocrite without a conscience who only wants to get her own way. 

Bijoy is not an egotist. You are.


At Bose house, Bijoy is pacing and wondering what is going on there.

Ronita starts praying.

Saurabh asks her to stop praying and Bijoy to stop pacing. He says that her sister will definitely stop the engagement.

Me: Thankfully, your sister has some decency left to not ruin a girl's life and then slobber over her fiance.

Ronita says: If that had happened, Maa or Sona would have called.

Bijoy says that he can't wait any longer. He is calling them.

Saurabh tries to stop him. But Dida encourages him to call.

Bijoy calls Asha.

She walks away from there to pick his call.

Bijoy asks what happened there.

Asha says that Dev's engagement broke. And he left.

Bijoy says: What? I knew that Dev will do something stupid.

Asha says: Dev is not stupid. Your daughter is stupid. She didn't say anything to Dev.

Ronita: What? Why?

Bijoy says: Okay. So Sona made a mistake, now she is my daughter?

Saurabh and Asha protest.

Bijoy: Ok, we will sort this fight later. 

Saurabh asks about Dev.

Asha says that everything is tensed here. She will talk when she comes home.

Bijoy hangs up the phone.

Me: One thing is clear from here is that Bijoy's promise was an excuse Sonakshi was using to keep away from Bhaiya. Otherwise, Bijoy was not the barrier, Sonakshi was. She is NOT ready for this relationship. But every single person is pushing her except Bijoy. 

But you know, if you repeat something to someone enough times, they start to believe it. That's how people get brainwashed to take a decision which is not right for them.

A lot of people get married before they are ready because society keeps repeating that they are getting older.

People have kids before they are ready because of family pressure.

Here Sonakshi is hearing the same things repeated multiple times while Bhaiya is increasing the heat under the pressure cooker slowly.

What a suffocating situation to be in. And this people call Lau. 

No one is thinking that may be Sonakshi is hesitating even now because she is not ready or even convinced that she can be happy with Bhaiya. Just because you love someone, it doesn't mean that you will also be able to live with them for the rest of your life. May be she has no trust left in Bhaiya and doesn't want to gamble her life like before.

But who the hell cares? Bhaiya wants, Bhaiya gets.


Suhana texts Bhaiya. He sees the text and calls back. 

Suhana says that it's her dad.

Ishwari tells her to pick up the phone and talk.

Sonakshi tells her to put on speaker and ask where he is.

Suhana picks up the phone and asks where is he.

Bhaiya says: Beta, I can't tell you that. But I have to tell you something else. I won't be able to meet you for a few days. You take care of yourself. I am going out of town for a few days.

Everyone is shocked.

Suhana asks where is he going?

Bhaiya whines: I can't tell you. You take care of everyone else. I know that you will be upset. But I can't handle this situation like this. I love you very much. Soha, you are listening, no?

Me: I wonder what would have happened if Sonakshi had said that she can't handle the situation so she needs to go abroad. But she definitely laus Suhana. So she should take care of her responsibilities. There will be hoards of people calling her a bad mother.

But Bhaiya is a great father who is making a run for abroad because his shitty game fell through expecting his 8 years old kid to take care of his family and his responsibilities. This is the guy who could not wait until evening to meet Suhana when Sonakshi asked him to wait. 

What kind of father should we call him?


Suhana looks at Sonakshi. Then says: Papa, I also want to come with you. I promise I won't bother you. 

Bhaiya: Suhana, you are my angel. You never bother me. But I want to be alone for a few days. I know I had promised you that I will give you lots of time. But I am sorry. I could not keep my promise.

Me: What? Bhaiya breaking his promises? What a surprise!!!

Suhana, get used to it sweety. Your father has never kept any promise he ever made to anyone. Now that your parents will get back together, you will face broken promises on a daily basis. 


Suhana says: Papa, I am not crying. I am a brave girl, no? 

Bhaiya: I know you are very strong. I wish I was strong like you. When I become strong, I will return. 

Sonakshi takes the phone and says Dev but Bhaiya hangs the phone.

Ishwari is crying: Where is Dev going leaving us behind?

Mamaji consoles her saying that he said he will come back.

Golu asks for BigCha.

Vicky says that this house has too much drama. Radha is happy. She thinks that they got some more time.

Soha looks at Sona and says: I got my Papa after so many years and he left me again. 

Ishwari goes to Soha and consoles her.

Asha says that they should also go. She tells Ishwari that if she needs Sona or her, she should call them.

Ishwari says that she will call Asha.

Asha asks Soha to come.

Soha says that she won't go anywhere until her dad comes back. 

Asha convinces her that her father will come back. But Ishwari needs rest. So she should come with them.

Soha agrees. Asha takes Soha and leaves with Sona.

Me: What did Bhaiya say? He wanted Sona to come back to him with her own FREE WILL without any pressure from anybody.

I don't know about you, but I am seeing a bubbling pressure cooker with Sona on it while Bhaiya squad are putting dry woods under it and Bhaiya is lighting the fire. 

They come home. Sona thinks about the past (only good memories. She is also an escapist, remember?) and recent brainwashing sessions.

Sonakshi says that she is going to get Bhaiya.

Asha is happy. Finally all the pressure paid off.

Dida gives Sona a lipstick to look sexy for Bhaiya.

Soha is smiling big.

Me: Yep, I am glad even Dida learned that looks are everything in their relationship.

Sona says that this is not the first time she is going to fetch... I mean meet, Bhaiya.

Asha says but she is going after so many years.

Me: No, no. Asha. She has fetched him before.

Sonakshi is about to leave when rain starts to fall.

Ronita thinks it's romantic timing.

Me: Or God could be crying in dispair at the condition of human race. Depends on how you interprete.

Ronita says she will get her umbrella. Saurabh says that he will get it. 

Bijoy says that he will go and get his lucky umbrella.

But Sona leaves.

Bijoy comes back with his umbrella. Sona already left.

Everyone laughs.

Soha says: Dida, Mamma left naa. Our plan worked.

Asha shows her thumbs up.

Me: I think I missed a scene in online upload. Looks like Soha must have tightened the screws a bit farther. Manipulation rocks in TV Land.

And Sonakshi being the feeble minded, easily manipulated person escapes in fantasy.

She runs out like demented mad woman and screams: Thank you, God. I have become the old Sonakshi who believed in her fairy tale, her love story. I have become that Sonakshi who used to love Dev, loves Dev. And who was not afraid to say it. Today the person I am to find, I don't need anyone's help to find him. Today I will find him myself. And when I find you, I will tell you what I hadn't even said to myself in all these years. Dev Dixit, Mr. Obhodro, I love you. And from now on this is my mantra, this is my worship, this is my chant. And as long as I have you, I will keep repeating I love you, I love you, I love you. Dev, where are you? I am coming.

Me: No, I swear I am not shitting you guys. This was word for word the dialogue. I still don't know what made her turn into the delusional girl again. I mean what exactly brought that on? It literally made zero sense to me. Also, who speaks such cheesy lines, yaar? 

By the way, dialogue writer Bhaiya, fyi, Sonakshi has found Bhaiya during Khatri track on her own too. She just needed a driver so she took Jatin Bhaiya. So please before writing cheesy lines, at least watch the season two episodes if not the season one. 

Sonakshi is running like a crazy woman on the road: No one can separate us now...

And bumps into pedestrian. 

She says sorry.

They ask her to watch where she is going. Are you blind?

She says: I can't see anyone but Dev.

Me: Barf!!! Sorry this was ridiculous to watch, not to mention looks like borrowed from '70s melodrama.

The girls say: Have you gone mad?

Sonakshi: I am mad because I have fallen in Lau.

Me: Don't worry girls. I also think that she has lost her mental balance due to excessive pressure. 


Bhaiya here gets a call from travel agent and he says that his flight is booked. He says, goodbye Miss Sonakshi Bose.

Me: Moral of the story. Either you do as I say or I will make sure you are treated as leper by everyone else until you do as I say. We call it free will.


PRECAP: Sonakshi takes the key from his bike and throws on the ground.

Bhaiya says: When did you learn this crazy behaviour?

Sonakshi: Love taught me this too. I am probably the first person who is saying sorry in her proposal.

Sonakshi gets down on one knee and holds a ring...

Me: I don't mind a woman proposing a man. What I mind is why and how that happened. The way Sonakshi was pressured and manipulated to reach this point and the way Bhaiya planned to dump his daughter and run because Sonakshi didn't dance to his tunes, this proposal seems as fake to me as his proposal after Ishwari's manipulation in season one.
