Tia's Thread - The Poison Tree!!!

Announcement: Since I didn't receive any volunteer to open the thread on Wednesday, July 26th and Thursday, July 27th, there will be no update on these two days unless someone volunteers. Those are our summer event days and I will be out of office most of the day. 

Also, please note: Gauri will be opening the thread from Thursday, Aug 3rd to Monday, Aug 7th.

There is a famous masterpiece by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay (the same person who penned "Vandemataram") called The Poison Tree or VishBrikshya. 

The moral of the story is that when you reap a Poison Tree in your home, you will only sow the toxic fruit.

I had been saying a long time that by constantly ignoring Vicky and Radha's misdeeds, the Dixits are just reaping Poison Tree in their home. So expecting that poison tree will spare the same home which sheltered them is a futile expectation. 

In real life, no one changes overnight without a reason. I doubt years of poison which his mother had fed him against Bhaiya and his family, can turn into nectar overnight.

Vicky and Elena both grew up under the shadow of their overachiever cousins. But the reason Elena didn't grow resentment against Sonakshi and Vicky did was because how Elena's mother/family raised her vs. how Radha raised Vicky.

Poison will always show its colour. Even though Radha seems to have improved after getting the keys, even she won't be able to control the effects of poison which she so carelessly input in her son's brain.

That's why it's very important for us to not bring children into grown up politics. Impacts at young age can last a lifetime.



EPISODE: Before I write about the episode, just let me say, Bhaiya's lack of hair in one side and too much hair in other is very distracting. Not at all goes with the character Dev Dixit. I am sorry, this punk style is not something I find at all palatable. So I will be looking at whoever else is on screen with him.

The episode starts with Vicky accusing Bhaiya saying that he wants everything. Even his son. He snatched his son from him.

Bhaiya says: What are you saying? Snatched him? I snatched your son from you? He is a child. You are forgetting that you are his father. No one can snatch him from you. You should understand that children go where they get love. You think where you are falling short. 

Vicky: The great Dev Dixit is now saying that I don't love my son. I love my son very much and I can do anything for him. No one needs to make me understand anything.

Bhaiya: Vicky you are forgetting that you are talking to your elder brother.

Vicky: No, I am not forgetting. I know you are my elder brother. 

Bhaiya: Until you get over your hangover, don't come out of your room.

Vicky: I also have no desire to be among your family.

Vicky glare at Bhaiya and walks away.

Bhaiya is disturbed.

Me: Bhaiya, have you ever seen a rabid dog? Do you know how toxic their bite is? This cousin of yours is that rabid dog. You have survived one bite of his (when you lost the love of your life), but you may not survive another one. There is still time, pay attention to what's going on under your nose. Otherwise, next time, you may not survive.


Vicky is drinking more in his room. He is muttering: All these years, they called me bad. The hero of the story was always Dev. 

He takes out his laptop and says: Dev Dixit and his happy family will understand what is real villain like. What didn't happen until now, will happen. Raise a toast for the last time, Dev Dixit. Because from today, your The End begins. Cheers...

He drinks some more.

Me: And this is what I had been saying. When you raise kids with a sense of entitlement instead of the ethics of hard work and determination, they grow up believing that the world owes them something. And when the world doesn't hand over success and money to them, they think that they didn't get their rightful due.

Bhaiya should have paid attention to every clues and hints that were given to him. Now it's too late.


Sonakshi, Mamaji and the Dixit sisters are taking pictures.

Sonakshi suggests to do as Nikki does as in pout.

They all pout and take picture.

Just then Sonakshi gets a call.

She excuses herself to take the call.

She talks to the person on the other side. It's a client for whom she had been trying to arrange meeting for an year. They are in town and want to meet right away. 

She tries to make excuses and even suggest Saurabh Dada. But they insist on meeting her.

Sonakshi tries to call someone else.

Nikki calls out: Bhabhi, come naa. Attend these phone calls later. 

Sonakshi signals for a minute. So Nikki sits down with her sisters for picture.

Bhaiya comes there asking for Sonakshi.

Mamaji makes him stand there for picture.

Bhaiya sees Sonakshi. Sonakshi tries to signal him.

But Mamaji stops him for picture.

Sonakshi says: I can't wait that long to talk to Dev.

Bhaiya tries to leave after picture, but Nikki stops him for picture.

Riya says: Bhaiya, take a picture with us. We had been waiting for you for so long. Bhabhi isn't going anywhere.

So Bhaiya had to stop to take picture with them.

Sonakshi says to herself: No. If I say anything to Dev, he will insist on coming with me. I will go for the meeting alone. I can't let him miss his family moments because of my meeting.

She gets the call back: No, no. I am coming. I am just leaving home.

She says to herself: Sorry Dev. I will have to do it on my own.

She leaves while Bhaiya and the sisters are taking pictures.

And since she can't let the drivers miss their moments either, she drives the car herself.

Me: First of all, here's some common sense which is uncommon sense for you, Sonakshi.

1. You can text Bhaiya where you are going instead of signalling like a moron. He would see the text when he checks his phone next.

2. Drivers are not spending family moment. You can take them with you. Also, you should take Saurabh since there isn't a party going on in your house. As you said, he is also a partner. 

If nothing else, at least if you need help, there's safety in numbers. But why should you use your brain when you can jump with eyes closed?


Vicky is chatting in laptop with someone. That dude says: Are you sure? Dev Dixit is your elder brother.

Vicky says: I know. You just do what I am saying.

Just then Elena comes: Vicky, today...

Vicky closes the laptop in a hurry.

Elena gets some doubt in her mind: What were you doing? 

Vicky says: Nothing.

Elena: Vicky, you were talking to someone on the laptop. Come on show your laptop.

Vicky says: What are you doing? Have you gone mad, Elena? You are doubting your husband.

Elena says: Yes. Because I don't trust you. Tell me what were you doing? Give me your laptop.

Vicky refuses to give the laptop. They fight over the laptop and it breaks.

Vicky says: Now see what you want to see.

Me: Elena, do you really think that if Vicky is up to no good, he will confess to her what he is up to?

No really. You have no trust in your husband because you know very well that he is filled with poison thanks to his mother. This is the same reason you don't trust your mother-in-law. 

You know what he is capable of. Every woman knows their husband inside out just like every husband who actually love their wife knows them inside out.

You just want verification. But it would do you no good because when people get mad with jealousy, they can't see right from wrong and those people are dangerous.


Anyhoo, the photo session is still going on. Bhaiya says: Okay, now it's enough of the pictures. If I don't stop, they will keep taking pictures.

He leaves from there. The three sisters continue their photo session.

He asks Jassi about Sonakshi.

He says that she was talking to someone on the phone and then she went out. 

Bhaiya is surprised: She went out? 

He tries to call but the call doesn't connect.

He is about to leave when Golu comes running: BigCha, where are you going?

He says: Golu, I am going out for a minute. I will be back soon.

Golu says: BigCha, take picture with me too.

Bhaiya protests.

But Golu says: I will show this picture to my friends. They take picture with their dad. Then you can put the picture on your office table.

Bhaiya then he agrees to take the picture: Okay fine. Your and my picture will look so good on my office table.

He sits down with Golu to take the picture.

Golu thanks him. Bhaiya kisses him.

Me: In Golu's innocent mind he imagines Bhaiya as his father. His parents have absolutely no role there beyond distant relative who live in the same house. 

But it's not his fault. He got love and attention from only one person (now also from Sonakshi and Soha). So in his mind, he is also part of Bhaiya and Sonakshi's family as their son and Soha's family as her brother.

If tomorrow his parents fall off the face of Earth, he won't particularly feel any huge heartbreak beyond knowing that his parents are now dead. 

If Vicky truly loved Golu, before demanding him to stand by him for family portrait, he would have tried to spend time with him, take him out, talk to him, give him attention.

Kids are not trained monkey who will perform on demand. If you don't give attention to them, then they won't give you the time of the day either.


Vicky is sitting in a corner and drinking when Elena snatches his flask and throws it on the ground.

Vicky gets up mad: What is it to you?

Elena: What did you think? You will behave badly, break things and I will get scared?

Vicky: You already don't trust me. What did you say? I don't trust you. People can see my fault even in the dark, but Dev Dixit the great...

Elena interrupts: Vicky, if you are disturbed because of Golu, then that's not Dev bhai's fault. Golu is just a child. If he is saying something, that's his stubbornness. We should pay attention to him, not Dev Bhai...

Vicky shushes her: Sssshhh... You know what? You became a good daughter-in-law, a good daughter, a good sister, but wife? You could not be a good wife. Your husband's rights are being taken away in front of you and you are saying nothing?

Me: Are you serious? Elena is a good daughter and good sister? The same person who dumped her family for you when her own family were on the street? 

And Elena, how does it feel to listen that you weren't good wife after you gave 7 years of your life being just that. So much so, that you couldn't be a good daughter, a good sister, a good niece and even a good mother.

Today Bhaiya claims that Sonakshi is a good wife, Ishwari claims that she is a good daughter-in-law, Bijoy always claimed that she is a good daughter, Saurabh claims she is a good sister, Soha claims she is a good mother and Golu claims she is a good aunt.

Because she may have a lot of fault, but she didn't give up any of her family when they really needed her. She was there when the Boses needed her. And she was there when Ishwari needed her.

That's why today, she is considered to have excelled in everything and you are being told that you have failed in everything. That's what happens when you give your life to the undeserving.


Elena says: Dev bhai took care of Golu when you were not paying attention to him.

Me: Uh-uh, Elena. You were also included there. You both weren't paying attention to him. Let's not forget yourself in this.

Vicky: What do you want to say?

Elena: You know what? I at least become good at something. But you could not be a good son, a good husband nor a good father to Golu.

Vicky raises his hand: Elena...

Elena grabs his hand: How dare you? How dare you raise your hand on me? Why? Because I was speaking the truth.

Vicky grabs her hand: You are my wife. What I will feel like, I will do with you.

Bhaiya comes there and separates Elena from Vicky: What are you doing? You will raise your hand on a woman? This is your manhood?

Vicky: No one has the right to speak between husband and wife. 

Bhaiya says: If you have to pick on someone, then choose someone equal to you. Who can strike you back. Don't you understand this? You will raise your hand on her?

Elena pulls Bhaiya back: Dev bhai, please...

Bhaiya: No Elena. Today he needs to be taught a lesson.

Vicky: Vicky is not so weak.

Bhaiya: You are weak. God knows what this girl saw in you to get married to you. She promised to spend the rest of her life with you. At least give her the respect to repay her back. You were saying naa that I snatched Golu from you? I didn't snatch Golu from you. You yourself pushed him away. And if you don't learn to respect the women of this house, then I will throw you out of this house. Did you get it?

Vicky gets mad and leaves from there.

Me: Now the rabid dog has got blood in its tongue. Be prepared for its bite, Bhaiya.

And as for what Elena saw in him? Well, it's not what she saw in him, it's more like what she has between her two ears to get married to the same douche who bothered her before just because he claimed to be in love.


Sonakshi finishes her meeting. The client says that it was good to meet her and his team will be in touch with her team regarding this.

The client leaves.

Sonakshi checks the time and says: Oh God, it's Soha's bedtime and Dev must be waiting as well.

She gets into the car. But it doesn't start.

She says: I don't have network here and this car...

She gets frustrated.

Me: Common sense lesson no. 2. You were standing in front of, what looks like a restaurant/hotel. So you could easily walk in there and make a call to any of the cab company. It's not as if, if you take a cab, your monthly budget will get over stretched. 

But you are Sonakshi Bose. Why will you use common sense?


Bhaiya is trying to put Soha to sleep.

She asks for her mother.

Bhaiya says: She is in office. She will come soon. 

Soha says: Papa, Mamma gets me to sleep with a goodnight kiss every night. But why is she so late today?

Bhaiya says: Her phone is not reachable.

Soha: Then when will Mamma come home? 

Bhaiya: Let's make a deal. You sleep like a good girl. I will get your Mamma.

Soha agrees.

Me: Your idiot Mamma is preparing to get into trouble. So be a sweetie and get to sleep so that your Papa gets a chance to be hero who saves the dumb blonde.


Sonakshi thinks: How can I call Dev? 

Me: Why? Telepathy isn't working? Then how about the landline in that building beside you?

Then the car starts. So she starts driving.

In the meanwhile, Bhaiya keeps trying to reach her. But the call is not going through.

Bhaiya says: What is this? She should have at least told me where she is going. Now where will I go to find her?

Me: This is where the text message comes in. Had Sonakshi texted you before leaving, Bhaiya could have gone to fetch her. But she didn't use her common sense, so Bhaiya can't do anything until Sonakshi gets somewhere. 


Sonakshi's car stalls again. 

Me: *SNORT* Obviously.

She panics. She tries to start the car, but it doesn't start. There is no network there either.

Me: Now, had you just called a cab where you had access to a landline instead of trying to make a car with an obvious problem take you home which is not anywhere close, you'd have been at home already. I am sure you didn't have a meeting with a client at a junkyard out of the city limit, did you?


She gets out of the car and opens the bonnet. 

Me: So now she is a mechanic along with a moron.

But quite obviously she can't fix anything.

So she looks around for help. Then she checks her phone and sees that she got network. She calls Bhaiya.

Bhaiya picks up the phone: Sonakshi where are you? You should have told me where you should be going naa? 

Sonakshi interrupts his rant: Dev, Dev, Dev... I am at the highway and the car has stopped.

Bhaiya: What? You are alone in a highway at this time of the night? 

Sonakshi: Dev, I had a meeting with an investor. I didn't want to interrupt you because you were taking cute pictures with your sisters.

Bhaiya: Screw cute. Why did you have to go alone? 

Sonakshi: Because I knew that if I am in trouble, my husband will come and save me.

Bhaiya: Don't try to be cute now.

Sonakshi: Hurry up. My cell is going to shut down any minute.

Bhaiya: What is around you?

Sonakshi: Bus stop. I will send you the location. One minute. Did you get it?

Bhaiya: Sonakshi, that area is unsafe. So please stay in the car and keep the doors and windows locked.

But the line gets disconnected.


Me: Seriously. Bhaiya is giving common sense instructions. Since Sonakshi sent the location, she will obviously wait in the car for him to arrive. Otherwise how will he know where she is?


The call gets disconnected.

Sonakshi complains: Oh God, the cell had to shut down now.

Bhaiya tells Jassi that he is leaving. The kids are sleeping. He can let others know if they ask.

He leaves.

Sonakshi is sitting in the car when she sees some strange men staring at the car.

Those men start walking to the car. 

She pretends to call someone.

Me: With the window frigging open. I mean what is this? She became doctor with this brain? No really. What is easier to do? Closing the door and keeping the windows up or pretending to call someone with windows wide open for someone to put their hand through? God, idiots frustrates me so much. 


She talk to herself: Sonakshi pretend to be talking. These people scare those who gets scared.

Me: Sure. Well, when did you acquire your psychology degree, Sonakshi? Pray tell? Because let me tell you, duffer. Actually scary people don't want to scare you for fun. Their fun itself is scary.


In the meanwhile, Bhaiya is driving as fast as he can. He is trying to call Sonakshi, but it's not connecting.

Sonakshi sees a woman standing on the bus stop. So she gets out of the car and stands with her.

Me: Even bigger idiot. This woman is shorter than you. If those two people comes back, then how will you two protect yourselves? Idiot or what?

And do you even know if the bus she is about to get on goes to where you live or elsewhere?

Someone give me a gun so that I can shoot the empty hole Sonakshi is carrying on her head.


Bhaiya arrives where Sonakshi's car is. But of course Sonakshi is missing. She has already left with the woman.

Just then he gets a call. It's Sonakshi. She says that she is in the bus.

Bhaiya asks: Why did you get into the bus?

Sonakshi: I was feeling strange there. So instead of waiting, I got into the bus with the lady. This bus is coming towards home.

Me: Okay, let me get this straight. Instead of asking the lady to wait with you and your husband will drop both of you at home safe and sound for free, you got into an unknown bus with the lady. That's your intelligence?

Bhaiya, I totally understand your frustration. If I had a stupid wife like her, I'd be frustrated too.

Look how frustrated I am even though I don't have a stupid wife or husband for that matter.

Bhaiya asks: Okay, tell me the bus no. 

Sonakshi tells him. She says which road the bus is on.

Then she hands over the lady her phone and tells her thanks and that her husband was worried.

The lady then says that her stop is here, so she has to get down.

Now, you'd think that Sonakshi will get down with the lady and wait with her in her home since she had decided safety in numbers.

But nope. Sonakshi decides now to ride the bus alone. 

Me: So she was first uncomfortable to stay with her car alone and decided to tag along with the lady. And now she is so comfortable in the same bus, that she decided to wave bye to the lady with a working phone and ride a bus alone where anyone can get in. Now may I say that for some people stupidity is as common as common sense?


A group of men get into the bus in the same stop the lady got out. 

Me: Now what does a smart woman do? She gets down and walk with the lady.

But what does Sonakshi do? She rides the bus alone with a group of strange men living in Delhi.

This is the same woman who got uncomfortable with two men standing and looking at her while she could lock her car door and window. Now she has no problem only a while after to be in a bus with a group of strange men who look drunk.

She feels uncomfortable. But she won't get off the bus. Idiot!!!


At Dixit house, Ishwari is worried. Radha looks worried too.

Mamaji says: One of their call should connect. 

Ishwari says: No Bhaiya. I got tired of calling them. None of their call is connecting.

Radha says: Dev has just left. But what was the need for Sonakshi to leave at night? Dev would be in tension and now we are tensed too. If she had to leave, she could have gone with Dev naa. Jiji, you know naa that it's not good for a woman to go out at night in this city.

Ishwari says: No, Bhabhi. If Dev has gone, he will bring Sonakshi back. Nothing will happen to Sonakshi as long as Dev is there.

Me: If Bhaiya is there, then naa? Your over smart daughter-in-law has created a situation where Bhaiya is having to run around like headless chicken trying to fix the mess she got into.


Those drunk men tries to bother Sonakshi, just then Bhaiya enters like a hero into the bus. 

Then Bhaiya beats them to the pulp and Sonakshi shouts like melodramatic heroine: Dev...

Bhaiya hugs Sonakshi. He asks her: You are alright, naa?

Sonakshi says: Thank God you came, Dev.


He scolds her: Are you crazy? Who goes alone at night like this? Why did you go without telling me?

Sonakshi says: I promise I will never go anywhere without telling you.

Bhaiya hugs her tight: And I won't let you go anywhere either. Ever.


Me: Get a tracker, Bhaiya. The kind here people puts on mentally disabled people who can't use their senses. Because obviously you wife needs one.


PRECAP: Vicky is putting a secret camera in Bhaiya's office.

Bhaiya and Sonakshi walking into the office.

Vicky says to himself: Perfect. I will delete the footage the moment I get the information.

Bhaiya walks in and is surprised.

Me: And there goes his company.

His wife has already handed over their house to Radha. Now Vicky will get the business.

They are lucky that Sonakshi is now rich and can take care of both of their family. Otherwise, they would have been starving on the street.

At least she had enough business sense not to employ deadbeat people in senior position in her company.

I guess Sonakshi showed her stupidity and tomorrow is Bhaiya's turn.
