Breathing Space!!!

EPISODE: The episode starts with Sonakshi saying to Bhaiya: Dev, I need your help. Look this balance sheet is not matching. 

She shows her laptop. Bhaiya checks and thinks.

Sona: See? That's why there's so confusion in this project.

Bhaiya goes through the sheet: It is a little complicated. But if I think about it for some time, may be I will be able to come up with a solution.

He goes through the list and he finds a solution. He shows it to Sonakshi.

Sonakshi says: I am so glad I shared this problem with you. You are so awesome. How do you do everything so perfectly? I am so glad this young, talented, brilliant man is mine.

Bhaiya: Enough, okay? Don't praise me so much or I will get fat sitting here.

Sonakshi: How are you so talented?

Me: As sweet as this scene was, I hate to point out the lack of respect for confidentiality and professionalism in Sonakshi's behaviour where she is openly sharing confidential data of her company without her clients' consent.

That's actual illegal and subject to lawsuit.


Shubh wakes up crying.

Bhaiya: Arre? What happened? Is Shubh jealous?

Sonakshi smiles. 

Bhaiya rocks him and he goes back to sleep.

Bhaiya says: Sonakshi, I always just wanted this. A family where love is endless. And I got all these because of you.

Sonakshi: Really? You got all these because of me and I got a perfect family because of you. Just one thing is missing.

Bhaiya: What?

Sonakshi: Our date night hasn't happened in a while. I miss that. 

Bhaiya: Okay. I will plan something. If we can't go out, I will plan a midnight date at home.

Sonakshi: Really? 

Bhaiya: Yes. I will also make Italian for you.

Sonakshi: Wow. I can't wait.

Bhaiya says: Great.

Just then Bhaiya gets a call: Yes, doctor. I remember. I am bringing Shubh to you.

Sonakshi asks: What happened to Shubh?

Bhaiya: Relax. Nothing happened to him. He just needs his vaccination. I forgot that too because of you.

Sonakshi: Okay please... You didn't remember.

Bhaiya: Oh please, I remembered. His medical card is also at home. We have to take it too. 
Sonakshi says: Let's do one thing. I will take Shubh to hospital. As it is I don't feel like focusing on this project. My brain is not working. For a change I can go out.

Bhaiya: But you have your meeting.

Sonakshi: Yes, that's true. And meeting... Actually, you do the presentation.

Bhaiya: Me? Sonakshi, I don't even know the details.

Bhaiya stammers...

Me: Is it me or is this unprofessional behaviour is glaring to you as well? They may be husband and wife, but they don't work in the same office. Does your spouse allow you to check his/her confidential files from work or they tell you to attend meetings on their behalf? That's not only unethical but also unprofessional behaviour. 


Golu is engrossed in playing the game. He isn't looking where he is walking. Soha asks: Golu, where are you going?

Golu: To complete next task.

Soha takes away his phone: You won't do any more tasks. This is a very dangerous game. Delete it from your phone.

Golu: Soha, give me the phone. 

Soha: No. First you promise that you won't play this game. And if you don't, then I will go and tell everyone at home.

Golu: But it's a game. What's your problem with it? I also got full marks.

Soha: You got full marks by cheating. You didn't even study because of this game. This is wrong Golu. You won't get full marks by cheating. You will get to marks by studying. What if everyone in the family finds out you cheated, then?

Golu feels scared: Are you trying to scare me?

Soha: I am your sister. I am saving you from doing anything wrong. You have to listen to me or I will tell Papa. 

Golu: Okay. I will delete it. 

Soha: Okay, now let's go to the class.

Golu: First give me the phone back. 

Soha: You will delete it naa?

Golu: For sure.

They walk away.

Me: While the plot is illogical at their age, how Soha tried to save her brother was touching to watch. She was firm but loving sister. Golu realised that she is going to let him continue his shenanigans but the way she said it, didn't turn Golu resentful or defensive.

Well done, Soha!!! 


Mishti is not sleeping. Ronita says: Go to sleep. It's time for you to go to bed.

Asha comes there: What happened Ronita? Didn't she fall asleep yet? 

Ronita: She is not sleeping but she isn't bothering me though.

Asha: Very good. Did you take your iron tablet?

Ronita makes guilty face: Sorry, I forgot.

Asha: I knew it. Take care of yourself. Your hemoglobin is down. 

Ronita promises that she will put a reminder in her phone from now on. 

Asha: Good.

She is about to leave when Ronita asks: Maa, did you talk to Maa? 

Asha: No. I won't be able to talk to her about anything. You will have to speak up to save your husband.

Ronita: See how she created chaos the moment she arrived.

Asha: I don't know how it will get fixed. It's not right for me to say anything. She might feel bad. 

Ronita: Let's see what we can do.

Asha smiles and leaves.

Me: What is Ronia's mother doing? I will have to go and watch tomorrow's episode. Otherwise hard to comment on it.


Sonakshi comes home to pick up Shubh's medical information. Ishwari comes running with it.

She hands over the file to Sonakshi: Here you go, Sonakshi. You also check if this is Shubh's file.

Sonakshi checks and says: Yes, Maa. This is it.

She is about to leave but turns back and says: Maa, you will be coming with us, naa?

Ishwari: I was thinking of doing some chores around the house.

Sonakshi: Maa, we haven't spent quality time with each other and after Shubh's vaccination, only you will be able to calm him down. So come with us, please.

Ishwari gets happy: Let's go. 

Three of them leave for hospital.

In the car, Shubh is playing with Sonakshi's locket. 

Ishwari smiles and says: It feels so nice to see Shubh in your arms. I feel relieved.

Sonakshi: Maa, I also miss him very much. I feel like leaving everything behind and just stay with him. But my employees are like my family. I am in this position because of them. Their livelihood depends on me. I have some responsibilities for them naa?

Ishwari: I understand, Sonakshi. Those people who supported you so much, you can't leave them just like that.

Sonakshi: But my family will always come first for me. And I will try my best to balance both.

Ishwari: You try your best. I am with you. And whatever help you need, I will give it to you. 

Sonakshi thanks her. Ishwari smiles.

Me: I loved this scene. I always have found that open, honest and reasonable communication can solve any misunderstanding. 

Family don't always see eye to eye in everything. But being open about one's thoughts, emotions and feelings go a long way to reach a workable solution. 

I am glad Ishwari is showing her full support to Sonakshi without imposing on her, her idea of life.



Sonakshi's clients are sitting in a meeting room. Bhaiya comes there in his casual clothes.

One of her clients say: Mr. Dixit, you?

Bhaiya says: Sonakshi has gone out. So I came in.

Another client says: It's good to see you, Mr. Dixit. Dr. Bose has given the responsibility of her nutrition business to you along with responsibility of home.

Bhaiya: Whatever we can do, we will do. 

One of the clients say: We can reschedule. Dr. Bose can present later.

Bhaiya: No, it's okay. I have given a few presentation in my life. So if you please allow me...

The clients allow him.

He presents the presentation of a nutritionist.

Me: Imagine a scenario where you are injured and you went to emergency ward in hospital. Suddenly Shahrukh Khan walks in.

You ask: SRK, you?

SRK says: Today I will be your doctor. Because I have acted as a doctor in a few movies.

Would you let him operate on you? I mean he is SRK. He can do anything, no?

This is exactly the same scenario.



At Bose house, Ronita's mother is training Sourav how to care for a baby.

Asha and Ronita are standing by the door upset.

Me: Why the heck are they upset for?

Sourav finally successfully finishes his task.

Then he picks up the baby. 

Ronita's mother claps.

Me: Someone explain why are Asha and Ronita looking as if the sky has fallen in their head?



On the other side, Bhaiya finishes his presentation. 

The clients clap.

Bhaiya asks them if they have any questions.

The clients say that he has covered everything in the presentation. So they have no question.

In fact, the clients are so happy, they are ready to make a deal. Not only that, any future proposal Bhaiya brings, they are ready to accept.

Bhaiya thanks them.

ME (*snort*): Talk about logic. Bhaiya learned everything about Sonakshi's business within matters of minutes, presented a nutrition business's proposal when the only company and industry he knows about is telecom, impressed the clients so much that they not only want to offer this deal but any future deal along with their firstborn children. Not to mention they have no objection for just any random person walking in to the business and present it. Imagine how'd Dev's client react if Elena or Ishwari walked in to present it. Yeah... But who cares? Bhaiya is Shahrukh Khan.


At school Golu is trying to delete the game but he is not being able to delete it.

Soha says: I knew this game was dangerous. What will we do now? I think we got trapped in this game. 

Soha also tries but can't delete the game.

They get a threatening message from the game. They threat their family if they tell it to someone else.

Golu and Soha start crying worrying about their family and Shubh.

Me: What they are going through is scary. Poor kids.


In the meanwhile, Bijoy reads about this in the newspaper: Kids these days have no value for their life.

Asha looks up.

He says that the game he told her about killed two kids.

Asha gets worried. She takes the newspaper. She reads that those kids made a sign, took a selfie in front of it and jumped from the terrace. 


Me: This is why this track is illogical for Golu and Soha's age. How will such a small child go to the terrace alone? Which parents let their kids go to a terrace with low railings? How tall are 8-9 year old to climb a railing and commit suicide? 

Teenager, yes. Such a young child? No. They will get scared before even attempting it. 

No. Just Google suicide rate across the age group and you will see how suicide rate starts at 14 and then spikes across teenage years and then more evens out in later years.


She says: What nonsense. Two kids killed themselves for a game? Why doesn't police arrest the maker of the game?

Bijoy: Asha, if they arrest one, another will show up. Parents should pay attention to their kids and keep their children away from internet and cell phone. 

Asha: Absolutely. They should tell their kids how dangerous these things are. Thank God, Dev and Sona keep their children away from all these. 

Bijoy: There are benefits of technology and disadvantages too. 

Asha: Absolutely.

Me: Parents not giving Smartphones to children so young helps, parental lock and monitored time in the internet helps, not paying for a data plan on a cell phone helps. The only thing that doesn't help is parents giving free reign to their kids.


Shubh's vaccination is done..

Ishwari Thank God, everything got done.

Just then Sonakshi's phone rings.

She asks Ishwari to get it for her. 

Ishwari takes out her phone and it's Bhaiya. 

Sonakshi asks her to pick it up.

Ishwari picks up the phone. Before she could speak, Bhaiya starts singing: Oh my Sona, Sona, Sona... You don't know what happened to the meeting today.

Ishwari hides her smile and says: I am not your baby. Your baby is playing with your Baba.

She tells Sonakshi: He was singing.

Then she asks Bhaiya: Go ahead. Tell me what happened to the meeting. 

Bhaiya gets embarrassed: Maa... You picked up the phone?

Ishwari: Yes, it's good naa? That's how I found out how nicely my son songs.

Sonakshi smiles.

Bhaiya stammers: No Maa actually something happened in the office today I wanted to tell Sonakshi. Put the phone on the speaker.

Ishwari puts him on speaker.

She asks him to speak.

Sonakshi asks: Dev, how was your meeting? 

Bhaiya: Very good. They didn't just give us this project, but next project too.

Sonakshi: Next project too? Wow. It's all because of you.

Ishwari chimes in: See Dev? You were at work and Sonakshi was with Shubh so everything went so well.

She then looks at Sonakshi and feels guilty.

Sonakshi and Bhaiya both feel awkward.

Me: Didn't you say Ishwari that you will support Sonakshi in her decisions? Honestly? Geez woman, let them live their life and give them breathing space. Go back to being a great support and stop trying to make them live your dream life.


Ishwari asks if he is coming home. Bhaiya says that he will come after he picks up Soha and Golu.

Ishwari asks him to come home soon.

They leave in awkward silence.

Me: The previous warm and fuzzy feeling of harmony is completely gone. Ishwari just can't help herself.


At Bose house, Ronita is lying on the couch reading a magazine.

Asha comes and says: Ronita, Mishti needs to be taken to a doctor. Come.

Ronita whines: Now?

Asha reminds her that the appointment was preponed. 

Ronita says: These doctors don't let people take rest. I still have to get her ready. Maa, did you get her ready?

Asha asks: Ronita, is she with me? 

Ronita: Then who has her?

Asha: She is not with me. 

Ronita thinks worriedly. 

Asha asks where is she.

Ronita remembers: I remember. Maa took her out.

Asha: Ronita, you scared me. Call your mother fast.

She calls her mother. The phone rings at home. 

Ronita says: Arre, Maa left her phone home. Couldn't she take the phone with her? 

Asha worries.

Me: You should worry, Asha. You wanted traditional daughter-in-law who stays at home and son who works outside. You got them. Except your theories of "Mothers know best" and "Mother and no other" are all crap.

Ronita is a mother and a stay at home mother. But I dare you to deny that even as a working woman, Sonakshi is a 100 times better mother than Ronita. 

Heck, even though Bhaiya is a man, he is 100 times a better caregiver than Ronita.


Bhaiya is waiting outside the school for the kids. He says: Come on kids, hurry.

All kids come out except Golu and Soha. 

Bhaiya keeps looking for them.

At Dixit house, Soha tells Golu: Golu, we should not play this game. Because of this, we got punishment to walk home.

Me: Ummm... Elite school has guards. How do two kids sneak out of such a heavily guarded school and starts walking without anyone stopping or noticing them? How is this even possible. This is not a village school.


Golu: I also don't want to play this game. I was enjoying myself before. But now I am scared. You know naa that anything can happen to our family. Just one challenge more and then we are free.

Soha says: Golu, we should not hide this from our family. We should tell this to Mamma Papa.

Golu: Are you mad? We can't tell this to anyone. 

Just then Sona comes home with Shubh: Soha, Golu. What are you doing here? 

Ishwari asks: Dev already came home with you?

Sonakshi: Soha, where is Papa?

Golu: BigChi, BigCha didn't come to pick us up.

Sonakshi and Ishwari are shocked.

Ishwari: He didn't come? But he said that he is coming to pick you up.

Sonakshi asks: How did you come home?

Golu says: Our friend's Papa dropped us.

Sonakshi: You should have waited for him. Papa was coming to pick you up. Did any of you inform him that you are coming home? 

Both kids shake their head.

Sonakshi: He must be getting worried over there.

Me: Yes, and you can't inform him either because all cell phone have been confiscated except yours. 


Golu says: We got lots of homework. So may we leave?

The kids leave before Sonakshi could respond.

Ishwari worries.

Bhaiya is worried too when he gets a phone call. On his cell phone. 

Me: And here I thought Bhaiya put all cell phones away. Well, I guess not his or his wife's.


Bhaiya picks up the phone and says: Yes, Sonakshi. I am waiting outside. Kids haven't... (Sonakshi tells him) Okay. If they reached home safely I am coming. 

He leaves.

At Dixit house, Vicky and Elena are staring at Golu.

He says: You should be happy. Why are you scaring me? You should give me a gift and you are scaring me instead?

Elena: Because Golu, we can't believe that you scored such great marks. You barely pass most of the time.

Golu: Mummy, if we work hard and really wish for it, anything can happen. Hard wish gets you anything.

Vicky: There's no such thing as hard wish. It's hard work.

Golu: Yes, that. Don't pick on words, understand the feelings Papa. I was saying that I studied night and day and got the result.

Vicky: Day and night. And I never saw you studying all the time. When did you study, tell me.

Golu: I am very sad. I am going to sleep. I don't want to talk.

Elena says: Golu, it's not that.

Vicky: How does this little kid talk so big?

Elena: After all he is your kid. You also talk big.

Vicky: I don't talk big.

Elena: Really?

Golu shouts and leaves: Yes, I am leaving. 

Vicky says: He can't say why he topped. That's why he is going to his room.

Elena: The son is yours.

Vicky glares at her.

Me: Along with Bhaiya, Vicky's parental instincts are also sharpening. He has already figured out something is not right. Elena is typical Asha. Always claiming credit and passing on the blame.


Asha and Ronita are sitting worried. Ronita's mother comes home with Mishti.

Ronita says: Maa, you took Mishti? 

Ronita's mother says: But I told you before taking her.

Asha says: You took her out but didn't take your phone.

Ronita's mother: Yes, I didn't have phone. Who needs phone to take care of a baby? Even I raised Ronita without a phone.

Asha: I was just saying that how would we contact you? We needed to take Mishti to the doctor. 

Ronita's mother: These doctors take big money for no reason. I took Mishti out in warm sunshine. Now she is feeling better.

Asha: In warm sunshine? You did what you felt right? Now it's my turn. Come on Ronita. Let's go.

Ronita's mother: Doctor will just prescribe medicine. He won't do anything else.

Asha: No. He will also take money.

Ronita starts laughing. 

Asha: Come on Ronita. 

They leave while Ronita's mom keeps protesting.

Asha laughs and leaves with her.

Ronita's mother: No one listens to me.

Me: I don't know why Asha always looks at Ronita's mother as if she is a pest and not Mishti's grandmother. I didn't think she did anything wrong today. 

She told Ronita before she left. Ronita should have informed her about the appointment and ask her to return on time.

Instead she was lazing on the couch with a magazine forgetting not only the appointment but also who had her baby.

It was definitely not Ronita's mother's fault.


Sonakshi comes into the kitchen and asks DK if the dinner is ready.

DK is absent minded and doesn't respond.

Sonakshi calls: DK. Is the food ready? 

DK says: Forgive me, I didn't hear you.

Sonakshi: What does it mean that you didn't hear me? You are looking stressed. Is everything okay at home?

DK: Yes, everything is fine at my home. But here...

Sonakshi: What's here?

DK: Something isn't right here. Vicky Bhaiya accused me of stealing four days ago. He said that I stole Rs. 4,000 from his wallet.

Sonakshi: You are still stressed about that? You know naa that Vicky forgets things. He must have left it somewhere...

DK: No, no. He did not misplace the money. I found the money.

Sonakshi is surprised: What are you saying?

DK: We were cleaning the children's room. I found two Rs. 2000 note under their mattress.

Sonakshi is shocked: From children's room?

DK: Yes. I was thinking that it's my duty to inform you. But I didn't know how to say this.

Sonakshi thinks.

Me: DK is worth his weight in Gold. If you are busy working parents and you have honest help who genuinely cares for your children, it's such a huge support only people who have it knows. They look out for your children much closer than you because they are their responsibility as well. 

Bhaiya just might save his kids thanks to DK.


PRECAP: At breakfast table, Golu gets up to get his bag.

Bhaiya says: At least finish your breakfast.

Just then Golu's phone chimes.

Bhaiya says: One minute. Where did you get your phone? 

Golu is scared.

Me: Gotcha!!!
