Final Countdown!!!
Hi Everyone,
So this is it. This is the last week of the show. Only last four episodes left.
Hopefully, all the loose strings will be tied up.
This week's schedule for update.
Today's episode: Later tonight.
Tomorrow's episode: On Wednesday night. I am busy tomorrow night until late.
Wednesday's episode: On Thursday night/Friday night.
Thursday's episode: Friday night/Saturday.
All times are in Toronto time as in EST.
EPISODE: The episode starts with Bijoy and Bhaiya playing Ludo. The rest of the family is watching.
Golu and Soha are playing separately.
Ronita says: It looks like Dev Jiju will win.
Bhaiya throws the dice.
Bijoy was drinking water. He throws the water on the board pretending to be an accident.
Everyone gets shocked.
Bijoy pretends: Oh dear. Look what happened.
Bhaiya protests: Papa, I was winning. This is not fair.
Bijoy: Yes. You are the winner. When did I claim otherwise?
Bhaiya sulks. Everyone else smiles.
Me: Well then if you really accept that, why behave like little kids? Seriously. Some men become kids in old age.
On the other hand, mini Bijoy (Golu) snatches some sort of you from Soha.
So Soha protests: Golu, you are the biggest cheater.
Golu: No, you cheater.
Soha: No, you cheater.
They start fighting.
Bhaiya facepalms.
Sonakshi says: Now why did you start fighting. Stop fighting.
Elena says: Stop it. Golu, don't use your hands. It's just a game. You start fighting for any reason.
The kids sit down sulking.
Me: Elena, don't just tell Golu to not raise hands, tell Soha the same too. She was the one who raised her hands first. We tell little boys and men not to hit girls. We should also tell little girls and women the same. Granted, most women don't resort to violence. But some do. The same way, some men resort to violence. Men or women, both should be taught the same thing.
A woman slapping/hitting/abusing men are as bad as a man slapping/hitting/abusing women.
Suddenly Shubh and Mishti starts crying.
Bhaiya: Look what you have done. Both kids are crying now.
Elena: Golu, Soha, see now both kids are crying.
Soha says: Sorry.
Ronita says: I will go and put them to sleep.
She calls out to Soha and Golu: Kids, you also come and take a nap.
Golu and Soha say: Okay.
They go with Ronita.
Bhaiya caresses Shubh's head: There there.
Elena says: Sona, I will go put Shubh to sleep.
She asks Vicky to come with her.
And surprise, surprise. He happily goes with her.
Me: Now that's shocking. These two rarely had put little Golu to sleep (if ever), but now both of them putting down Shubh for a nap? Shubh ki to kismat chamak gayee, yaar!!! (Shubh is so lucky)
Everyone is having sweets (Looks like Rasgulla).
Bijoy says: Dev beta, the decision you took, is a courageous step. I believe that you will fulfil this responsibility very well.
Bhaiya smiles.
Sourav: Dev babu, you said it, that's why Baba is saying that. Had I said it, Baba would be the first one to make fun of me. I am telling you, everything is double standard in this home.
Bijoy says: You are also double naa.
Sourav: See, see?
Me: I understand your complaint about double standard, Sourav. And there's indeed double standard in this house.
For example, you claim to be equal partner to the company, but 90% of the work can't happen without Sonakshi. Yet you reap equal benefit.
Your mother asked Sonakshi to quit her job and sit at home to raise her kids. She'd never in a million years will tell you the same thing.
Your mother makes fun of your mother-in-law because she came to bother you for a few days. But even when Ishwari was making your sister's life hell and that arrangement was 24/7 365 days a year, she lectured Sonakshi to adjust and never made fun of Ishwari.
The moment Sonakshi stepped out of the house, you figured that she will never ever need her room and claimed it for Mishti who never even once slept in that room. This is the house which Sonakshi bought back, by the way.
You want to go to your anniversary dinner. So you need time off. You sulked because Sonakshi forgot your anniversary. But Sonakshi's daughter was in the hospital, but you were pressurizing her to attend a meeting instead. You also forgot to ask about your niece or even bother to show your face to check on her since then.
So is there double standard in your house? Yes. You bet there is. But so far, you have benefited from it the most with the least amount of effort.
Bhaiya: Baba, you should encourage Sourav.
Bijoy: I should. But I love my granddaughter more.
Sourav: I can see everything.
Elena: It's all about mentality. Someone made a rule on husband's role and wife's role.
Sonakshi: Such a strange rule it is. Someone decided that husbands can't manage kids and wives only have one duty which is to manage home and kids.
Ronita: True. We are at least lucky that our husbands help us. Not like old fashioned husbands.
Asha: You are talking about today. I have been seeing since Sona and Sourav were kids. Bijoy used to be so involved in them that his friends used to find it weird.
Sonakshi: Yes, Maa. That's the problem. Even if someone does good, some people have problem with that too. And if someone wants to bring changes, then people discourage them too.
Asha nods her head.
Me (Mouth hanging open): Guys, am I losing my mind or did I witness the biggest example of hypocrisy?
I mean WTF?
When Bhaiya wanted to do good and bring changes, wasn't it Asha who was continuously whining about society and social norms to Bijoy?
Thanks to Asha's regressive lecture, wasn't it Sonakshi who wanted to forget change and go back to the typical social norm constantly when Bhaiya had to beg for one month to take care of his own children?
How can they sit and talk about society's mentality without feeling an ounce of guilt or even apologizing for doubting on Bhaiya or giving him such a hard time?
This is beyond my tolerance. I can't tolerate this blatant hypocrisy.
It's like listening to a guy who takes bribes complaining about petty thieves.
Ishwari is pacing on the floor in her room. Some voiceover: I think the time is here to change the rules we have made and to think from a new point of view. If someone wants to change something, we should listen to their suggestion and encourage them.
Me: Not sure if that meant to be her voice because it sounds nothing like her.
Asha brings ice cream to Bijoy: This is a new flavour of ice cream. Try it.
Bijoy: Asha, it felt so nice to have everyone together after a long time. The whole day was gone in a blink. I can't believe...
Asha: What you can't believe?
Bijoy: That when we were going, we used to plan for our kids. And look, now our kids have kids.
Asha: Bijoy, why are you talking like the oldies? Have your ice cream.
Bijoy: We are old. How else we will talk?
Asha: Again the same thing. What happened to you? Why are you acting so old?
Bijoy: I can not acting. I know my age. You are acting to be young.
Asha: Have your ice cream. It's melting.
Me: I don't know why no one sees how Asha talks to Bijoy in such insulting manner. What did he say that was so offensive and insulting that Asha behaved in such a rude and insulting manner? Was there any reason for her to be a jerk?
What if Asha had said what Bijoy said and Bijoy reacted like Asha?
This is exactly what I was saying. Some women also can be jerk to men. Asha is a prime example of that.
Bijoy sulks: I don't want to have ice cream. Besides one should not have ice cream at this age.
Asha: If you don't want to have it, then don't. But don't ruin my mood. I am not old. Didn't you hear? Age is just a number. I can still compete with youngsters.
Bijoy: Who told you that?
Asha: I know it. Besides Sourav's office staff also says that.
Bijoy: What do they say?
Asha: That his mother is so young. But his dad...
Bijoy: You are behaving as if I am twenty years older than you. Besides, there's nothing wrong in behaving as per one's age.
Asha: Where are you behaving as your age? Besides I have a long time to reach that age. Look, the whole ice cream melted.
She takes the tray.
Bijoy: Asha.
Asha says sarcastically: You are the one who said that one should not have ice cream at this age. So I am taking away the ice cream.
She leaves.
Bijoy sulks.
Me: Asha, let me clear some misconception here.
You might "look" younger than Bijoy. But the moment you open your mouth and the regressive garbage comes out, Bijoy instantly looks young and more progressive than you.
So hang on to the looks as long as you can. Because there will be a time when Bijoy's modern mentality and progressive views will keep him current and future ready whereas your regressive mentality will make you appear as current as Methuselah.
Sonakshi is making breakfast in Dixit house.
DK comes there: Good morning, Bhabhi ji.
Sonakshi wishes him good morning too.
DK asks: What are you cooking so early in the kitchen?
Sonakshi: Making breakfast for the kids.
DK: That's my job naa, Bhabhi ji.
Sonakshi: Get used to it. Because today is a new beginning. I will make breakfast for the kids and you will see it everyday.
DK whines: But that's my duty, naa.
Sonakshi: Okay fine. You make breakfast for everyone else. I will make breakfast for the kids. Okay?
DK: Then it's okay.
Sonakshi pours the breakfast in two bowls and takes it away.
Me: Poor DK is scared to lose his job. But what I not getting is why the heck everyone is interested in house keeping suddenly?
I am not saying that there's anything wrong in taking interest in cooking, cleaning or other household chores. But they have DK for that.
However, they don't have anyone who can make Soha and Golu do their homework, give them quality time, take them out to play. DK can't do it. Why aren't they focusing on that instead and take turns in taking their responsibility between Soha/Golu and Shubh?
Sonakshi comes to Golu and Soha's room who are sleeping.
Sonakshi pulls off their blanket.
Soha says without opening her eyes: Papa, let us sleep.
Golu also mumbles: Please BigCha. Some more time.
Soha still talking eyes closed: We will get up without you calling us again.
Golu says: You don't have to come again, BigCha.
Sonakshi smacks Golu's butt: It's not BigCha. BigChi came to wake you up. Come on. Get up.
Golu sits still with his eyes closed: BigChi, why can't I see you?
Sonakshi turns his head: If you open your eyes, then you will see me naa.
Golu opens his eyes: Wow, eyes and nose both opened together. Where is this smell coming from?
Soha also gets up: Yes, Mamma. Where is the smell coming from? Did you make something, Mamma?
Sonakshi says: Yes. I made special breakfast for you. It's outside.
Golu: I want to see what you cooked.
Sonakshi: No, not yet.
Golu: But why, BigChi?
Sonakshi: Because this breakfast is for people who are ready to go. You have ten minutes. Get ready and see it for yourself.
She leaves.
Me: This was a very cute scene. I enjoyed it. I don't think that just because one person chooses to pursue a career, they can't take care of home and kids and vice versa. If one has a supportive life partner, then no one has to give up everything unless that's exactly what they want. Whether work or life, balance is very important.
People who constantly chase the almighty dollar feel as unfulfilled as people who have no life beyond home and kids.
It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Work and home can go together. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.
Ronita's mother has returned Bose house. She is drinking tea.
She says: The enjoyment one gets from a cup of tea... Mmmm... Ashaji, you have made excellent tea today.
Asha says: Thank you. I thought you were going to stay with your sister a while longer. You came back early.
Ronita's mother: Yes. Even my sister was asking me to stay for another week.
Asha: Then? You should have stayed there.
Ronita's mother: I thought you'd need my help. So I came early.
Asha makes frustrated noise and mumbles: It would have helped if you hadn't come back at all.
Ronita's mother asks: Did you say something?
Asha: Ummm...
Bijoy comes and says: Asha is trying to say that it's good that you came here. Eh?
He smirks at Asha who gives a fake smile.
Ronita's mother becomes happy.
Bijoy: Actually, Asha was feeling bored without you. Isn't it, Asha?
Asha gives another fake smile: Yes. Actually Bijoy was saying that he wants to take you on a pilgrimage.
Ronita's mother is confused: Pilgrimage? With me? Why?
Asha: I was also saying the same thing. I had said that I will go with you. But he said no. He said that you are elder than me. So he should take you.
Ronita's mother: Dada, you think I am old?
Bijoy gets embarrassed: One minute, Asha. You heard wrong. I didn't say anything like that.
Before Asha can say anything, Ronita's mother says: Dada, let it be. If you want to go on a pilgrimage, you go. I am not as old as you. In this house, you are the oldest. So you should go.
Bijoy: No no. That's not what I meant.
Ronita's mother is still upset: Look, Dada. When Sourav and Ronita learn everything, I will go to my home, not to pilgrimage. Stop taunting me about my age. Is this how anyone talks?
She walks away upset.
Bijoy tries to stop her. Asha watches her go and tells Bijoy: Your in-law relation got angry.
She laughs. Bijoy is upset.
Me: God, this woman is an asshole. She is exactly the kind of people whom I hate. She is the kind of people who will pretend to be one's friend and well-wisher while laughing behind their back and making fool out of them. But they will use other people so that they can continue to appear innocent as fresh dew.
I wonder, Asha, how did you feel when Radha used to taunt and mock you and laugh at you? Did you feel hurt? Then how could you dish out the same treatment to your son's mother-in-law.
She might be strict and has flaws. But she tried to make sure that your son whom you taught nothing and her daughter who is lazy can manage to take care of their baby whom they had because everyone has one before they had any sense of responsibility.
So she pushed them so hard. Big deal. It's upto Sourav and Ronita to tell her otherwise.
It's not your job to taunt, mock or make fool out of her.
You pretend to be so innocent in front of Ronita. But would you have dared to behave the same way to her mother in front of her without losing your goody two shoes image?
You, Asha, is a two faced woman who is maintaining a fake image to hide a rotten core.
Soha and Golu are at the breakfast table with Sonakshi.
Golu: I broke my record today.
Soha: Which record?
Golu: To get ready so fast. Now I just have to eat breakfast.
Soha: Me too.
Sonakshi: Very good. Do you know, you should have a good first meal of the day. Here you go.
She serves the bowls to the kids.
Sonakshi: Now have it and tell me how is it?
Soha says: It's very good, Mummy.
Golu: It's very tasty.
Sonakshi gets juice glasses: Now tell me which juice you want, Orange or Apple?
Before the kids can answer, she says: One minute. I know. You want Orange (points at Soha) and you want Apple (points at Golu)
The kids say: Yes.
Sonakshi: See, I knew it.
She gives them the juice glasses.
She tells them to drink fast.
Golu asks: BigChi, why all this? Is anything special today?
Sonakshi: It's a new start from today. From now on, you will get healthy and delicious food like this every morning. Okay?
The kids nod happily.
Me: I am really enjoying Sonakshi's bonding with Soha and Golu. Most specially Golu. His mother pulls such vanishing act with occassional pampering that the poor guy never got a proper mother figure in his life who can control his impulsive nature. Sonakshi can give him the stability and structure he needs to reach his full potential.
Golu is polishing shoes in the living room. Mamaji is reading newspaper.
Golu: Polishing shoes are fun. Dadu, give me your shoes. I will polish them as well.
Mamaji: I will make my Golu do this? No.
Golu: Dadu, you give them. I really enjoy it.
Mamaji says: Fine. Here you go. Make them shine.
He hands over his sandals.
Golu happily takes them.
Mamaji: Golu beta, if you make my shoes shine, I will give you one rupee.
Me: Hain? Even beggers these days reject one rupee. How cheap, Mamaji. At least offer ice cream or chocolate bar.
Golu: Only one rupee? I won't even get chocolate with that.
Me: Exactly.
Mamaji says: Do you know, when your Papa was young, he used to take one rupee from me in exchange of polishing my shoes.
Me: Errm... Seriously? You read so much newspaper, haven't you heard about inflation? When his father was young, there are one rupee candy. Now you don't even get one sip water with that.
Vicky comes there.
Golu: I will take hundred rupees, not one rupee.
Me: Whoa whoa... Inflation is not that high either. Make it ten rupee which will be sufficient for a chocolate bar. Even better yet, make the transaction in kind. Why give money to that young kid?
Mamaji says: Aren't you your father's son? Greedy...
Me: Hold on a moment there. Golu was willing to polish your shoes just for fun. You were the one who brought money into that and turned his fun into a transaction. If that makes him like Vicky, then you are to blame to screw up Vicky and now doing the same to his son. And you particularly can't call his dad names in front of him. That's not a good thing to do.
Vicky walks over and says: Golu, give me Dadu's sandals. I will polish them.
Golu says: No Papa. I got it first. And I will get hundred rupees.
Vicky: I will give you your hundred rupees. Give me the sandals.
Golu hands them over.
Mamaji is watching all this.
He pretends to read newspaper: A son doesn't even has time to drink a cup of tea with his father. Tsk tsk... What kind of world we live in. It's written in the paper.
Vicky gets his taunt. He puts down the sandal and picks up a newspaper: Okay. Let's see what's in today's newspaper.
He reads: A father never talks to his son. He just keeps scolding him. What kind of news are in the paper, Papa.
Mamaji says: Okay. Then listen to this too. A father was upset with his son. But his anger went away. Yet his son didn't understand.
Golu gets upset.
Vicky: That's a very bad news.
Golu,: Okay enough. You two are bothering me. Let me concentrate on my task. Read your boring news later.
Mamaji: Why? Why later? This is a talk between two hearts.
Golu: If this is heart to heart talk, then talk to each other directly. Why are you hiding behind the excuse of a newspaper? You spoiled my mood to polish.
He leaves in a huff.
Mamaji and Vicky laugh.
Vicky: Kids these days understand everything, isn't it, Papa?
Mamaji: Yes. We take time to understand and can't say anything.
Vicky: No Papa. You have always told me that you are proud of me. But...
He picks up Mamaji's sandal and sits down at his feet.
He touches his feet and says: But I could not say how lucky I am to get a father like you. I pray to God to have you as my father every time.
I also want to be like you for Golu.
Mamaji is overwhelmed: It's also written in today's newspaper that you will get all your wishes.
He blesses Vicky.
Vicky smiles.
Golu comes back with two more shoes to polish.
He slams the shoes on the ground and says: You are still talking about boring news paper?
Mamaji and Vicky laugh.
Mamaji hugs him close: Come here. He is even smarter than both of us.
They laugh.
Me: This was a great scene. Golu has witnessed many times her father and grandfather tainting each other growing up. That's not a healthy environment for a child to grow up in.
He was always very good at figuring out the core of a problem. That's his talent that he can sort through the pretenses and reach the honest core without any effort. We have seen it when Bhaiya used to seek him to talk about Sonakshi and Suhaana and we saw it again today.
On the other hand, between Mamaji and Vicky, someone had to take the first step. Once they took it, the emotions came out.
I really liked this scene.
Asha is drinking something in her room and reading a book.
Me: I honestly can't take this woman any more. My blood is boiling everytime she is coming on screen.
Now that Radha has become a nice woman, she has taken her post.
Suddenly, Asha hears Mishti crying.
Ronita's mother also hears that in her room.
Asha says: Why is Mishti crying so much? I will go and check.
Ronita's mother says: Now what happened? Sounita?
Asha comes down: Why is Mishti crying so much?
Ronita's mother comes down behind her: Ashaji, I think, Sourav and Ronita again left Mishti alone and went somewhere. Let's go and see.
They come down and see Sourav and Ronita are handling the house just fine.
Sourav says: Mishti, look who is here. Your grandmothers, mother and father - we are all here.
Asha: Wow. That's amazing. She was crying until now. But she stopped crying so soon.
Ronita's mother: Ashaji, I taught them and they won't get result, that's not possible.
Asha says sarcastically: Truly. Sometime I think, had you been not there, what would have happened to this house. Had you been around my Sona and Sourav, how much help would I have got.
Ronita's mother thinks she is sincere: Let that go. I was not around then. But I am here now and see the result. How she is smiling. Now I think I don't need to stay here too long.
Sourav: Really?
Ronita's mother: Yes, you two understood everything. That's it. I am successful.
She leaves from there very happy.
Asha walks over to them: If you two learn this fast, your teacher will go back her home soon.
Sourav: That's what I wanted.
Ronita also claps her hand happily.
Mishti looks like she is about to cry again.
They hurriedly shush her.
Ronita asks Sourav to switch on the music fast.
Asha says: She is absolutely opposite. Don't you like Bengali song?
Sourav: She likes Bollywood.
Ronita starts dancing.
Sourav says: She will go. Dance dance. She will do tomorrow morning. Dance dance...
Asha laughs.
Me: I hope, one day when Asha, the asshole, visits Sonakshi, Sonakshi with Ishwari and Bhaiya dance and chant for her to leave. What a jerk. She is forgetting that Ronita's mother has as much rights on Mishti as her. She is also her grandmother.
But why talk about her only? Ronita would rather pretend in front of her mother than talk to her honestly.
She is the ideal daughter-in-law for Asha.
What is it with every woman in this show? They literally forget their own family the moment they get married. They all enjoyed all the privileges their parents provided them. But the moment they get married, they forget about them.
And in contrast, every man is devoted to his family. They won't tolerate any insult to their family from any outsider. Try bad mouthing or insulting a son's mother in this show and suddenly the son is all offended even when she deserves it because of her attitude to others.
All women are not disloyal to their families, CV and not all men are loyal. But we won't know from your show.
I am utterly disgusted by these trio. The fact that Bijoy isn't part of this, talks about his character.
Soha comes back from school.
Bhaiya comes there with Shubh: Oh wow. You are home? How was the school?
Soha: It was great. And we learned something new. That was very easy.
Bhaiya: Very good. Look how cutely Shubh is sleeping.
Suhaana caresses his head.
Bhaiya whispers: Gently. Don't wake him up.
He gets a call. He says: You know I am not coming to office now. Ask Vicky. He will handle.
The guy says: Vicky sir will definitely handle. But entire PR team thinks that you should be in this radio interview.
Bhaiya: Why?
The guy says: Our investors and clients will get an assurance. You know what I mean...
Bhaiya says: Okay fine. I will try.
He hangs up the phone.
Soha asks: Papa, what happened?
Bhaiya says: Nothing. My colleagues thinks I should attend a radio interview.
Soha becomes happy: Radio interview? So we will hear you in radio?
Bhaiya: No Suhaana. I don't know. I am not sure yet.
Suhaana: Wow Papa. I am so excited.
Bhaiya: Look, if I go, then who will take care of you and Shubh? Your mother is also in meeting.
Suhaana thinks for a moment: It's very easy. I will take care of myself and Dadi and I will take care of Shubh together. You go for your interview.
Bhaiya: Yes, I guess. But I think Shubh will have to watch my interview live. So I will take him with me. Dadi will take care of you.
Suhaana says: Okay.
Bhaiya smiles.
Me: Suhaana is very independent girl. Sonakshi raised her that way. Having a baby with a overly dependent young child is a much harder task than having a baby with an independent young child.
PRECAP: Bhaiya is in radio station alone. Shubh is grabbing everything.
He says: Okay okay. Now don't touch anything else.
Shubh knocks a button with his foot and they go live.
One of the employees say to another: How did this go live?
Bhaiya hears a voice which welcomes the listeners to the show.
He thinks: What is going on?
Me: The next is very predictable. Bhaiya and Shubh are cuteness overload combined with agony aunt/inspiration over the FM radio.
NO RULES!!! YAY!!!

Your mother makes fun of your mother-in-law because she came to bother you for a few days. But even when Ishwari was making your sister's life hell and that arrangement was 24/7 365 days a year, she lectured Sonakshi to adjust and never made fun of Ishwari.

NO RULES!!! YAY!!!
Asha was so good to ish and radha who were ten times worse than this woman. Ish an radha were snooty and deliberately women whereas this woman is just a little delusional. But still she is treated like she is a woman. Again Asha follows conventional family standards, Boys family is above girls family.
ReplyDeletePrecisely. Asha never once taunted Ishwari or Radha nor made fun of them. Even Mamaji made fun of Radha. But never Asha. That's fine. One should not make fun of people.
DeleteBut look at the way she treats Ronita's mother as if she is a stranger who forced her way into her home. Hello, if Sourav and Ronita start to live separately, then you will have the same status in their home as Ronita's mother.
What has Ronita's mother ever did to her compared to what old Ishwari and Radha did to her?
Seriously, I really hate this character.
And look at the way she treats Bijoy as if he is mentally challenged kid she has to take care off. I wish for once Bijoy recognises the disrespect and insult Asha dishes out all the while pretending to be goody two shoes and he walks out.
