Mamma's Girl!!!
Today I will talk about something I had said a while back.
Do you recall the three kind of couples I talked about?
1. Where the husband is useless and the wife takes charge of everything
2. Where the wife is useless and the husband takes charge of everything AND
3. Where both the husband and wife take charge alternatively and have equal ground in the relationship.
Sonakshi initially wanted the third kind of relationship. But then she found out that she enjoys the ego boost the first kind of relationship gives. So she married Bhaiya... TWICE.
But does she respect or trust him?
I doubt it.
Oh she respects his ambition, his drive, his success and his commitment to his family.
But she, like Asha, firmly believes that they are the best and better than the rest and their husband are the necessary fools they have to bear for the sake of their children.
Ishwari's attitude to her husband has not been shown. But the way she raised her son who is constantly told that he is useless in anything but earning money speaks volume on how she must have thought of her own husband.
Sonakshi sometimes tries to butter up Bhaiya with lofty lectures of trust and honesty.
But the fact remains that her biggest commitment is with Ishwari and Asha.
She respects their opinion (regardless of what she personally believes), she trusts them blindly to the point that her trust in her husband wears off and she follows their direction without question even at the cost of her own husband's wish.
If that means she is shortchanging her own self as a woman and her own husband as a wife - big freaking deal.
Honestly, I still think Sonakshi married Bhaiya again because Ishwari and Asha said so.
Unlike some people's belief, Sonakshi was never a "Daddy's girl". She never did what Bijoy wanted her to do. She was and will always be a "Mamma's girl" - be it Ishwari or Asha. She always bent to their will.
Funny, how her one accusation against Bhaiya now no longer exists as Bhaiya is no longer a "Mamma's boy".
Instead, now Sonakshi is living her married life as per two Mamma's tunes while now Bhaiya is fighting the world for her. That is season one in reverse mode.
EPISODE:
The episode starts with Bhaiya saying: Sonakshi, you will be leaving them with their dad. Do you really think that I can't take their responsibilities? Come on Sonakshi. The time is changing. Now going against the tide doesn't mean we are wrong. What happened today could have happened by anyone. It could have happened by you. But please. You will have to show trust in me.
Sonakshi looks at him sternly.
Me: I absolutely agree with Bhaiya. Sonakshi doesn't trust his own kids with him. That brings me to a question. Why is she married to a man she doesn't trust with the most precious people in her life?
I am wondering. No, tell me.
If a mother knows that her husband is not good for her kids, will that mother stay in her marriage and still claim to be a good mother?
Besides what is a marriage or so-called love without trust?
I am feeling extremely sorry for Bhaiya. I am offended on your behalf.
Bhaiya: Okay, for example, if you have a new employee in your office who makes some mistakes on the first day, do you fire him? A company can't run like this.
Sonakshi: Dev, this is not about the company. It's about home.
Bhaiya: Look, Sonakshi. Even before firing an employee, a company has to issue a month's notice. I want a month's notice.
Sonakshi: I don't know what you are sayoing.
Me: Then you are dumber than I thought or Asha has killed your remaining brain cells.
And also, why should Bhaiya has to plead in front of her to take care of his own children? It's not her decision alone but just like Asha, she thinks she gets to call all the shots about their family and Bhaiya just has to go with it.
Bhaiya: It's simple. You give me one month to do my job. If I can't do it, then you can fire me. I know that even your project will take one month to complete. And if I can't prove myself, then you can fire me.
Sonakshi: Dev, you...
Bhaiya: Sonakshi, please. Give me one chance.
Sonakshi makes Asha like face.
Me: Sonakshi is seriously pissing me off. Who the hell gave her the right to dictate whether Bhaiya should be allowed to care for his own kids?
She is now mimicking Asha's attitude to Bijoy who treats him like a dumb kid she has to tolerate and that seriously making me hate her.
Bhaiya, I think you will not only prove yourself, but you will be a far better caregiver than Sonakshi, Asha and Ishwari combined. I'd love for you to turn their ego into dust.
Next morning, Ishwari and Radha are having tea.
Radha is praising Ishwari's tea being the best and that she is lucky to have it.
They giggle.
Ishwari says: I am lucky that I got your love.
Radha says: Jiji, I am feeling that after what happened yesterday, Sonakshi will now sit at home because Shubh and Soha need their mummy.
Ishwari: I am also hoping the same that they will understand that kids can't be raised like this. If Sonakshi needs to work, then it's just a matter of one or two years. After that she can work. Who will stop her? Isn't it?
Mamaji also nods.
Ishwari is about to get up to take the tea cups to the kitchen when she fell back on the couch in pain.
Mamaji asks: What happened?
Ishwari says: Nothing much. When I got up this morning, I sprained my ankle. I am walking around with balm but haven't put it yet.
Radha says she will put the balm on her.
Ishwari doesn't want to let her.
But Mamaji says: Kachori, you are lucky that she wants to take care of you Otherwise, I keep whimpering, but she doesn't even look at me.
Ishwari hides her smile.
Radha snarls back: Really?
Mamaji says: Put balm carefully.
Radha puts the balm on Ishwari.
Just then Sonakshi comes down with the kids.
Radha says: Jiji, I still feel that everything is reversed.
Mamaji and Ishwari look at Sonakshi worried.
Sonakshi: Soha and Golu, go get your bag. Hurry.
They run to get their school bag.
Radha: I am confirmed. They didn't realise anything.
Ishwari is worried.
Me: I have nothing left to say to them. They are who they are. But we will have to see what would Sonakshi rather be. Bhaiya's wife and true life partner or anything but that.
Bhaiya tells the helps in the kitchen: Everyone's breakfast is ready. Good job, guys. Well done.
Sonakshi comes into the kitchen: Mmmm... Not bad. It's not looking as if you are new in managing house.
Bhaiya: You will believe it even more now. One minute.
He carefully takes the knife and cuts something and puts it with utmost care on a bowl which DK and another help are totally impressed with.
I am assuming, he garnished the dish.
Sonakshi gives fake smile when he looks at her.
DK is praising him: Bhaiyaji, you have cut so well.
Bhaiya: See? Even cook surrendered in front of me. I have cut it so lovingly and garnished the food.
Sonakshi also pretends to be impressed: So impressive.
Bhaiya: If I am so expert in two days, then no one should be surprised to see me in kitchen. I am thinking that if I am so good in two days, then in one month, I will reach such heights. Everyone's lunch is ready, breakfast is ready, kids are ready for school and our Shubh is sleeping in peace. I can't think how to praise myself more.
Me: Bhaiyaji, see the thing is, you start planning fruit salad before you even planted the tree. First wait and see how it's going the rest of the day so that you get bragging rights at night. Until then, just get things done on time.
At breakfast table, Elena tells Golu to finish his milk fast.
Ishwari asks them: Did you pack your lunch?
Golu and Soha shouts: Noodles.
Ishwari is surprised.
Elena says: Actually, today is Tuesday. They get noodles in their lunch every Tuesday. That's why they are so excited.
Me: Why do I have the feeling that this little titbit of information has not been shared with Bhaiya?
Sonakshi was about to say something to Bhaiya when she hears a doorbell.
Bhaiya says: I will check.
Sonakshi says: No, you wait. I will check. Okay?
Ishwari also says she will check but Sonakshi stops her.
She opens the door and it's a girl in tight dress and platform heels with full face make up and dangling earrings.
Sonakshi asks: Yes?
The girl says: Hi, I am Nikisha.
Sonakshi: Hi Nikisha, who have you come to meet?
Nikisha: Dev Dixit called me.
Sonakshi: Dev Dixit?
She turns and calls Bhaiya.
Ishwari and Radha wonder what is going on.
Bhaiya comes out and gets worries seeing Nikisha: Yes, I am Dev.
Nikisha: Hi, I am Nikisha.
Bhaiya realises who she is: Nanny?
Sonakshi: Nanny?
Nikisha: Yes.
Bhaiya looks at Ishwari. Everyone comes to check out playboy version of nanny.
Me: Bhaiya, tell me something. Where did you call to hire this nanny? 1.800.playboy nanny?
Nikisha: I am not late, am I?
Bhaiya: Nooo... You are not late.
He looks at everyone's expression.
Nikisha: It seems you are thinking something.
Bhaiya: No, I was not thinking. But I didn't think that nanny is like...
Nikisha: People often think that seeing me.
Sonakshi clears her throat.
Bhaiya remembers who is also standing there: This is my wife, Sonakshi.
Nikisha says: Hi Sonakshi.
Ishwari makes faces.
Sonakshi gives a fake smile.
Nikisha says with full attitude: Actually, old fashioned nannies are old news. For active kids, you need young nanny like me who can manage them.
Me: Darling, young nanny is fine. But how will you be active with kids in that outfit and shoes, that I'd like to see.
Sonakshi looks at Bhaiya. He looks idiotic.
Vicky is smiling huge.
Elena elbows him.
Suhaana whispers to Golu: What is nanny?
Golu whispers back something which I didn't get.
Bhaiya: Please come in. We will discuss your work experience and work history.
Nikisha big smiles: Of course.
Ishwari can't believe what Bhaiya is upto.
Me: Yes, and I can't believe how idiotic CVs are showing Bhaiya to be. No seriously. He used to run a business. He probably hired many employees. He doesn't know how unsuitable this girl is to entrust his children with?
She came dressed up like a party girl for a job to be children's nanny. That means she has zero common sense.
Who hires someone with no common sense to care for children?
Bhaiya can't be that stupid and then turn around and talk about not trusting him with children if he is continued to be shown as dumb as post.
Ishwari asks Sonakshi: Sonakshi, what is all this?
Sonakshi says: Maa, Dev asked me to promise that I won't stop him from doing anything for one month. I promised him and now...
She makes face.
Ishwari is confused.
Upstairs, Bhaiya directly takes the nanny to Shubh: Right now, little master is sleeping.
Nikisha chirps: Wow, he is so cute. He got the best features from you and Dev sir.
Sonakshi again gives fake smile and so do the rest of the family.
Bhaiya: Let's talk business. I didn't want to talk in front of the kids. So I called you upstairs.
She is a professional nanny and is connected to an agency. She knows how to care for kids. I needed help to care for the kids so I called her here.
Radha whispers to Ishwari: Jiji, right now she is nanny. In a few days, she will become sloe eyes darling and then finally sexy vamp.
Ishwari says: Dev, you didn't tell us what you were up to. We don't need anyone to care for the kids. I mean there's me and Bhabhi (Radha). There are so many people. We will manage.
Bhaiya: Yes, we are here. But from now on there will be someone taking care of the kids full time. And I will get help too.
Nikisha: You are absolutely right, sir. I am perfect to handle kids. Kids gel with me so well that you won't even realise that there are kids in the house.
Radha: What?
Nikisha: I mean kids will be with you and I can manage them perfectly too.
Bhaiya: Yes, everyone praised you so much so I hired you. But if you want to talk about your work history then...
Nikisha: I have 10 years of experience in this field. I have worked for businessman Mr. Wok and five years I worked for Barrister Mr. Mehra.
Bhaiya: Yes, he praised you very much.
Sonakshi: Must have praised a lot.
Ishwari: First tell us, what were the age of the children that have you managed?
Nikisha: I have managed kids from one day to 18 years. Kids become adult after 18 years, no?
Bhaiya and Sonakshi are shocked.
Me: By the way, Bhaiya. Did you check any references or word of mouth is sufficient to enter your home and get access to your kids?
Also, you can't just hire someone to care for your kids without discussing with your wife. This is your joint decision.
But then, when do any of you respect each other's input?
Just then Shubh starts crying. Sonakshi moves to check on him. But Nikisha runs to the baby and picks him up.
Sonakshi looks at her and then Ishwari. Ishwari is also not pleased.
She picks him up and before a stunned Shubh could protest at the stranger, she says: See? The baby is saying hi to me. Stop it. Stop it. I will meet you later, okay?
And she drops the baby back in his bed.
Sonakshi glares at Bhaiya.
Bhaiya looks dumb.
Shubh looks like a tsunami hit him.
Nikisha says: See, how the baby got silent the moment he came to me?
Me: Darling, the baby looks like he got hit by tornado. That's trauma, not calm demeaner.
Radha tells Ishwari: Jiji, she might feed bitter medicine to silence the child.
Me: You should worry about something else, Ishwari. Your worry should be that your moronic son brought a stranger to care for his kids at some business acquaintances suggestion and didn't even bother checking police report or references. She could be a kidnapper, child abuser or sadistic psycho for all you know.
And as usual he is looking dumb in front of that woman who is not letting anyone speak and behaving like she got the job already.
Who the eff hires the first person who shows up? People put ads, interview people, ask family's (most specifically spouse) opinion before hiring someone to care for their most precious possession.
But not Dev Dixit because CVs want to show him as utter idiot who doesn't have the sense of a turnip.
Bhaiya: Seeing you with the baby like this, I have no problem. I think you will be able to manage the baby perfectly. So then let's start from today. You tell me your salary.
Nikisha: I charge Rs. 20,000 per month per kid.
Radha: Rs. 20,000 for one kid?
Ishwari is also shocked: Means Rs. 60,000?
Nikisha: Yes. And I work for 12 hours. And if you like, you can also give me increment.
Ishwari gestures no to Bhaiya.
But will Bhaiya listen? Nope.
Bhaiya: Okay.
Ishwari: Dev?
Bhaiya: Means if your work is good, we will certainly give you increment.
Ishwari leaves in a huff: I will go check on the kids.
Radha and Elena follow him.
Me: Okay CVs. We got it.
Men are idiots. They may be businessman of the year and run a major corporation. But they are utter moron in everything else.
Women are perfect to run the home, but they can't be career woman and be a great mother.
In fact, also thanks for pointing out, if a woman likes her career, her husband will hire a hot looking nanny to raise her kid without consulting her.
You should get award for still managing to exist in 16th century. Congratulations.
Bhaiya remembers: Oh yes, it's time for Shubh's sponge bath.
Nikisha: Sir, I will do it. Ma'am will also be comfortable.
Bhaiya: No, it's okay. You do it. You don't have to prove anything.
Nikisha smiles.
Me: Bhaiya is going to make me eat my words today. He is proving to be even more of an idiot than yesterday and I thought yesterday he did a blunder. No wonder no one trusts him.
I mean this stranger claims to be the person some business acquaintance recommended to Bhaiya and without checking her reference and past history, he is okay leaving his son with her. He didn't even bother to find out if what she claims that she can do, she actually can do or not.
Because she doesn't have to prove anything. Archangels are singing her praise over her head. Seriously?
Bhaiya: Sonakshi, let's go. Have your breakfast.
Sonakshi: But Shubh...
Bhaiya: Shubh has his nanny now.
Nikisha: Yes, I will manage.
Sonakshi: Dev, how can I leave him like this?
Bhaiya keeps looking.
So Sonakshi is about to leave and then come back to say bye to Shubh.
Bhaiya generously allows his mother to say bye.
Sonakshi says bye and leaves.
Bhaiya says to Nikisha: Call us when the sponge bath is done.
Nikisha smiles and nods.
Bhaiya: Thank you.
Me: Wow, such trust.
Bhaiya, I know a man who claims he is a good man. Would you leave Suhaana with him without knowing his past history based on my recommendation? No? Then why such trust on a stranger? Just because she is a woman?
So even you think that only a woman can manage a child better than a man. Any woman. In fact any strange woman in totally impractical clothes like tight dress and high heels over a man in practical clothes like casual jeans and tee shirt.
You are not challenging the stereotype, Bhaiya. You are proving it.
Bhaiya comes to the kitchen: Humm... To make coffee, first I need coffee bean. Very smart, Dev.
He looks around for coffee.
Ishwari comes to the kitchen.
Bhaiya: Maa, do you want coffee? I am making coffee.
Ishwari: Coffee? Humm... Today I am feeling like having a cup of coffee. It's been a while. Let me make it.
Bhaiya: Why should you? I am making it naa.
Ishwari: I also make good coffee. You must have forgotten it.
Bhaiya: How can I forget? Here you go. But just today. Next time I will make it.
Ishwari: Okay.
She starts to make coffee.
Ishwari: Dev, what you are doing, I don't think it's right.
Bhaiya: What am I doing?
Ishwari: This nanny for kids. Nanny will raise the kids? And whatever money she asks for, you agreed to pay. We didn't even see her work. We don't even know her.
Bhaiya: It's good naa that we don't know her. That's why she needs to be happy here. I also do this at work. Whichever new employees come to work for me, I keep him happy. So that he works better. That's why she needs to be happy. Because this is the matter of our kids. If she is happy, she will do a good job.
Me: I sometimes wonder, how such an idiot become a successful business owner.
Yes, it's important to keep an employee happy. But who hires employees without checking their work experience and security check?
Also, who leaves company's most crucial and confidential files to the newest employee without supervision from day one?
And who the heck hires employees without any probation period?
Are you kidding me? No successful multimillionaire could be that dumb.
Ishwari: Dev, this is home. And you can't run home like a company. And kids are not work. One child is so young that he can't even speak yet and the second one is so innocent, isn't it? How are you leaving such kids with someone else, in someone else's care? Dev, no one can take a mother's place in a child's life. Go see Sonakshi's face. She is looking so upset. A mother is a mother after all. And if you have so much money to give to a stranger, then give it to me. I will raise your kids.
Bhaiya: Maa, what are you saying? Who am I to give you anything? Everything is yours. And Maa, I am not doing this so that someone else raise's our kids. I am doing it so that I also get some help. I want you to play with him, sing him lullaby, but I don't want to give you stress to manage him all day.
Ishwari: Huh? That's strange. What stress would I have?
Bhaiya: Okay, you make coffee. We will talk later.
Ishwari: Will that nanny raise the baby better than me?
Bhaiya goes from there.
Me: What Ishwari? A few days ago, you could not manage the baby so you started this Sonakshi stay home agenda. And now suddenly, you can manage the baby? Why didn't you do it in the first place instead of interfering in their business?
Every time you get exact opposite result when you interfere. But do you learn your lesson? Nope.
Do you remember how Bhaiya almost got married to Nisha thanks to your interference? Had she not called off the wedding, today you and Bhaiya would be stuck and so would that innocent girl through no fault of her own.
When will you learn your lesson?
And as for Sonakshi, I am not really feeling sorry for her. Until she learns to say to Bhaiya that he had no right to hire someone for their kids without discussing it with her and return the same courtesy instead of taking solo decision, she and Bhaiya will continue to be in this position.
Radha calls Ishwari to go to temple. Ishwari says that she is ready and they leave.
Upstairs, Bhaiya and the nanny is in the bedroom handling Shubh.
Vicky sees from outside.
Bhaiya asks Shubh to smiles.
Nikisha: Sir, please give Shubh to me.
Bhaiya hands over Shubh.
Vicky is staring from the door.
Elena sees him. She taps his shoulder: What are you doing? Don't you have office to go to?
Vicky: Yes, I was thinking that I will also take leave from work and manage Golu at home.
Elena: Vicky, I know very well that you don't listen to me at all. So shut up. Let's go.
She tells to Bhaiya: Dev bhai, you also have breakfast.
Elena drags him away.
Bhaiya also leaves.
Elena and Vicky are going somewhere.
Elena asks : Vicky, why are you smiling so much today?
Vicky: I was thinking about the nanny.
Elena: What?
Vicky: Yes, it's such a great idea of Deb bhai to hire a nanny. Nannies are such professionals. They take care of the kids so well. Wonderful. Great idea.
Elena: Aren't you saying too much? Nannies are for kids. You don't have to think about her at all.
Vicky: I think someone is getting jealous.
Elena: Me, and jealous of a nanny. Their work is to wear tight clothes and trap their clients.
Vicky: You also used to wear tight clothes. And now see. Classy and hot.
Elena: Stop buttering me up.
Vicky: I am not buttering you up, you crazy woman. There's no one hotter than you to me. When I saw you first time, I fell in love with you. I realised it later.
Elena: Really? Say something that I can digest. And I very well know that this is your tricks to change the topic.
Me: First of all, Elena, nanny's job is not to wear tight clothes to trap clients. Their job is to wear comfortable clothes and handle the kids.
The fact that some idiot men hires nannies in tight clothes is their moronic brain.
Secondly, CVs, we didn't sign up to watch Vicky and Elena romancing in every episode and Bhaiya and Sonakshi running around being the ones making sure they get quality time to do so.
I mean who is the main lead of this show exactly? Kindly enlighten us.
Ronita comes to the room and sees Saurabh sleeping and the toys are thrown all over the room.
She says: Saurabh, what is this? Why is the room is such a mess?
Sourabh: I didn't do this, Ronita. Your daughter did this. I tried so hard, but she wasn't listening to me. I tried so hard to get her to sleep. I had only five minutes of snooze and you woke me up.
Ronita starts picking up toys: Oh, so the baby did this? You should take out only as much toy as you need. It will take me all day to do this.
Sourabh: We should get a help for this.
Ronita: What help?
Sourabh: Ronita, you know there are nannies like they show in foreign countries.
Ronita: Yes, so?
Sourabh: They are very professional and trained to care for the baby. So I was thinking we should also hire one for our home. Like Dev jiju hired. Elena told me.
Ronita: Yes... We should also get professionally trained, sexy and slim nanny for our baby. Isn't it? So that baby also gets care and you are also happy. Wow, Sourabh. Very smart.
Sourabh: Huh, what are you saying?
Ronita: Listen, Mr. Sourabh Bose. There will be no nanny for my baby. Get it? I can take care of my own baby. And if you want a nanny for you, then appoint one for you. Just tell me in advance.
Sourabh: I am talking for both of us, so that we both are free and she manages everything else. Are you understanding?
Ronita: Wow, Sourabh. What a brilliant idea.
Sourabh: Thank you.
Ronita: I am understanding everything who will relax how. One thing I understood today, thin or fat, all men are same. They are of no use.
Sourabh: What are you saying Ronita? That's not what I meant.
Me: Sourabh and Ronita have more understanding about married life than Bhaiya and Sonakshi.
Sourabh didn't just hire a nanny without consulting Ronita. He asked if Ronita is okay with having a nanny.
Ronita took it another way because Elena must have described the nanny Bhaiya hired.
But not all nannies are sexy vamp. There are plenty of nannies who come to work in comfortable clothes to cope with active kids and all the bodily fluids babies spill.
However, whether she was open to the idea or not, her husband obviously respected her position as the mother of the child.
Just like Sonakshi doesn't respect Bhaiya's role as father of the child, Bhaiya doesn't respect Sonakshi's role as mother of the child.
They each take individual decision for the welfare of their child without discussing it with their spouse.
I ask you, does it look marriage to you? Will any of you do it to your spouse, if you are married?
I know I'd neither do it to my husband nor I will allow my husband to do it to me.
Sonakshi is tensed. She thinks about the nanny and looks at her phone at her and Shubh's picture.
She is worried.
Me: Seriously, Sonakshi? If you are feeling uneasy, then go and fire this nanny and hire someone you are comfortable with. Don't just wait expecting something to go wrong. Do something BEFORE something can go wrong.
PRECAP: Ishwari comes to Bhaiya's room and sees that the nanny is sitting on their bed and changing Shubh with Bhaiya watching her.
Then she hands over the baby to Bhaiya who takes Shubh happily.
She calls Sonakshi and says: Shubh and Soha needs your love, Sonakshi. Don't stay away from them.
Sonakshi thinks.
Me: I wonder if Jatin had walked in Bhaiya and Sonakshi's bedroom and sat on their bed, how would Bhaiya feel?
First of all, he doesn't have the sense to make sure the nanny knows her boundary and doesn't sit on their marital bed.
Arrange a chair or changing table if need be.
Secondly, he wanted to learn everything to do with raising kids. How is nanny doing everything while he gets to watch is the way to raise kids?
He can hire people for the kitchen because that is not part of raising kids and instead just handle the kids. But he decided to take over breakfast and lunch duty and get a nanny to do all the kids' work.
Thirdly, Ishwari is using Bhaiya's moronic sense to convince Sonakshi that Bhaiya will be the doom for her kids.
Fourth, and of course, Sonakshi will now get influenced by Ishwari. She doesn't have her own brain to think.
I was saying earlier that Bhaiya will prove to be better caregiver than
Sonakshi, Asha and Ishwari put together. But seeing Bhaiya today, I won't leave a hamster with that moron, let alone a baby.
NO RULES!!! YAY!!!
NO RULES!!! YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe what all blunders they are showing.
Firstly, how can Dev call a nanny without consulting Sonakshi ? They are not single parents !!
Secondly, how can Dev decide to hire nanny without even asking Sonakshi's opinion about the nanny ?
Thirdly, why can't the cvs give good dialougues to Sonakshi ?
When Dev was asking her why should he not handle the kids, the least Sonakshi could have done is explained her concerns about all the blunders that he did:
A. Lied to her infront of the kids
B. Taught them that it is ok to lie.
C. Worst of all - Lied in front of the teacher (principal) that too in front of the kids.
D. Lied to his own mother in front of the kids.
But as always, Sonakshi had no dialogues.
Only Dev & Ishwari are cvs favorite character. Sonakshi seems like a side actor who hardly has any good dialogues.
The least Sonakshi could have told Dev is - It takes years together to teach kids good values, good principles and honesty .. However it takes only 5 minutes to erase it all if parents set this kind of example. She could have told him that she wants to support him and trust him but with these kind of blunders she is finding it difficult to do so.
No open communication, no transparency between the couple :-(
Exactly. They have literally no communication between them. Sourabh and Ronita have better understanding and Vicky and Elena have better romance. What do they have? Both living individual life and taking solo decisions while living under the same roof and having sex. That's not marriage. That's living together as room mates or friends with benefits.
DeleteTotally agree with you Tia.
DeleteAren't we judging a book by its cover? Even in the dress, didn't she all her duties? She calmed the bay, feed him and as per precap, clothed him also. As someone who takes interviews, we always place high value on solid recommendations. A recommendation by acquaintance is great because they have seen her work. Also throughout the episode, she did do her work well. My only issue is when Dev walked off from the room delegating Shubh's bath to the nanny. That was too soon. Also the barrister who recommended is known to Dev. A lawyer would have definitely not recommended a nanny w/o backgroud check. Right?
ReplyDeleteAlso about telling Sonakshi. I find it funny that Dev has to beg her to fulfil her ambition. Dev toh kuch zyada hi achha partner nikla. She was gunning down all his ideas, maybe he thought that let me show it to her and convince her, rather than telling her and getting the idea rejected.
Noor, I also take interviews everyday. But we don't hire based on recommendation alone. We do background checks, security checks, check past work history etc. Also, in cases where someone will handle confidential information, we do police verification before hiring him/her.
DeleteBhaiya did none of it. She showed up and claimed that someone recommended her. He hired her on spot, handed over his baby and left.
Who does that?
What if she kidnapped the real nanny and came here to take her place only to win their trust and disappear with the baby?
They are rich family. So they have to be careful about this.
Even if this is the original nanny, the nanny might or might not do a good job. Time will tell.
But even a lowly clerk is not hired so instantly.
He didn't even inform Sonakshi that he has hired a nanny nor he asked if Sonakshi is comfortable leaving her child in this stranger's care.
Dev wanted to prove that even he can take care of the kids. Great. How is hiring nanny accomplish that?
It's like someone bragging that they have the smartness to get a medical degree and then hire someone to take their test while they get to show up at the convocation. Nope. That doesn't work.
If he wanted to prove that even father can take care of the kids, he should have handed over the kitchen duty to whoever (even hire more help for it) because that's not necessary and take over the kids' duty himself.
If Sonakshi had seen him doing all the kids' job on time and making sure the kids are happy, her doubt would have vanished instantly.
But what Bhaiya proved that only a woman, any woman (he hired a female nanny, not a male one) can take care of the children.
He is there only to cuddle the baby and show up when the baby is fresh and smelling sweet, all fed and happy? Well, then what's the difference between before when he used to work and now, except that he doesn't even go to the office now.
I was rooting for him even earlier when he said that he can do this and that he wants one month time to prove it. But when he hired a nanny, it's like the employee who gets someone else to do his job while on one month probation as he requested. That's not proving his point. In fact, it's cheating. I can't respect that.
His lofty dialogues are made of smokescreen after all.
Didn't you say in earlier posts that they can take help? Also taking outside help is not bad especially when insiders are taunting.
DeleteOh for sure. Taking help is fine.
DeleteBut there are two things to consider.
One, both the parents must be comfortable with the help.
Sonakshi also had Gunni in Bose house. She trusted her and was comfortable with her.
Secondly, Gunni was only taking care of Soha in Sonakshi's absence. But when Sonakshi was around, she was the one taking care of Soha. Gunni only took care of her when Sonakshi was busy or at work.
That's help.
Here, the help is doing everything in Dev's presence. He is just waiting for everything to be done so that he can just play and cuddle.
How's that proving what a great father he is?
Even in traditional marriage, the father does the same thing while the mother takes care of everything else.
So instead of proving what an amazing father he is to raise his own kids, he actually hired a substitute "mother" and a female one at that, proving that men are incapable of taking care of children due to biology/nature.
He is actually proving Ishwari and Asha right.
If she was taking care of Shubh while Dev was taking care of older kids or she was taking care of older kids while Dev was managing Shubh, it's one thing. But what purpose is Dev serving while staring her doing the job he swore he can do?
Nothing. That's my disappointment at him today.
Dev didn't hire a help. He hired a replacement.
And I was so rooting for him to succeed and shut up Asha and Ishwari for once.
Hi Tia,
DeleteI have been reading your reviews off and on. I don't always agree with what you are saying but I enjoy your "Me" comments and they do make me think.
But I really agree with Noor here. Just because someone is in tight clothes or heels doesn't mean they can't be a capable Nanny. I am in medicine, and I remember we had a Cardiology resident who used to wear heels on call --which i thought was totally stupid-- but it worked for her. She never had issues running to codes. So I feel that we shouldn't stereotype people on what they wear.
As for the lack of security checks-- I think you are making an assumption that it wasn't done when we don't really know and more than likely it was done. If she works for a reputable agency, presumably, she would've already had police clearance. If Dev was speaking to a previous employer-- that's the same as going though her work history. We also don't know if that was the only employer that Dev spoke to. I think they did make an effort to show Dev did a 'reasonable' amount of research on a person before hiring them. It would really tick me off for them to write her as unsuitable just to make Dev "wrong".
Honestly I don't see why the nanny changing Shubh on the bed is such a big deal? Shubh sleeps in their room and both Dev and Sonakshi change Shubh on their bed. Even Ishwari changed Shubh on the bed. They don't need to change Shubh's routine just because the nanny is young and attractive. If it were an old lady no one would think twice.
I agree that it would've been nice to see Dev doing some of the work... but I believe those scenes are to show us the nanny is capable and that given time we may see Dev doing the work too. I think part of the problem is that no one has faith in Dev so he may feel more hesitant to do some of those things lest he screw up.
And to me, that's one of the reasons why their marriage never had equality. Sonakshi always needed the ego boost--- so she always thought of Dev as someone she needed to 'teach' how to live instead of looking at him as an equal. When you don't have faith in someone it ends up becoming a self fulfilling prophecy.
The reason I thought that Dev didn't do background checks is because he was surprised to see Nikisha. As if a. He didn't identify her or b. Had no idea about her arrival.
DeleteSecondly, he didn't even want Nikisha to prove or show her capability to Sonakshi to put her mind to ease. Why?
First he didn't inform Sonakshi about the nanny and now he doesn't think it's necessary for her to trust this complete stranger before handing over her child?
Dev and Sonakshi both take each other for granted. Neither of them have the understanding of a married couple.
And about the bed, the nanny is not a family member. Whether young or old, she should not sit on a married couple's bed. If it was an elderly lady, I'd have said the same.
However, I have a strong feeling that this track was brought in to make Dev look even more of an idiot. Just wait and watch.
I thought Dev's surprise was more about her appearance. He didn't expect her to look like that. Not that he hadn't done any checks on her. If he spoke to a previous employer, he was obviously looking into her because he was expecting her.
DeleteIf they make Dev look like an idiot, I'd be surprised because I don't believe their ultimate goal would be to show that a man can't take care of a child. They have to show a few scenes of him being an idiot to then show how he improves. But overall he has to prove Ishwari and Asha wrong.
I agree both Dev and Sona have taken each other for granted but I feel Sona should take greater responsibility for that because she believes she understands relationships better than Dev. Dev also gives her credit for the same. The problem is that her concept of "perfection" is actually very damaging to openness in relationships. There is no consensus definition of perfect, so how can anyone actually be perfect? But if you are always afraid the other person will judge you as imperfect, then you will never open up or create an environment where the other person will open up.
Tia, I like reading your posts. Some things I agree, while some I disagree. There is one thing that I did want to point out today regarding your comment on the precap. That is Dev would like if Jotin sat on their bed. But didn't he(Jotin) do just that. Didn't he play the role of partner and father to Sona and Soha in Dev's absence. Didn't Dev have to prove himself and compete with Jotin. All because Sonakshi decided that she will not let Dev know about the pregnancy or Soha's birth. Even after Dev was introduced in Soha's life and Soha called him papa, didn't Sonakshi constantly act as though Dev is dispensable from their lives. That she is doing a favor by letting him be part of Soha's life. Isn't that his right legally and only he can refute it. But she took away his rights completely, especially by not adding his name in the birth certificate and when she made him sign that document in the earlier episodes where she made him responsible for everything. And also added a clause that she can take away his right to be in her life at any time.
ReplyDeleteFrom my pov a father has equal rights on the child as a mother. But Sonakshi misused it completely for her advantage. For them to have a happy marriage, the first thing she needs to do is take responsibility of the consequences of her actions and relieve him of his guilts. Secondly she needs to treat him like an equal partner. Dev shouldn't have to beg her to give him an opportunity. She doesn't have to act like she doesn't have a choice. For me Sonakshi is equal to Ishwari. Both are narcissists and look for self glorification.
Agreed. Yes, Jatin did play the role of Papa in Soha's life in Dev's absence. But then there were many women who played the role of Sonakshi in Dev's life in her absence.
DeleteWhat happens while two people living a single life (although they were still married and Sonakshi didn't break that vow with anyone. Dev did) is one thing. But while two people are living a married life, there are different sets of rules to follow.
The two situation are like comparing apples and oranges. To my recollection, Jatin has never sat on their marital bed while they were married.
However, I agree. Sonakshi did treat Dev as dispensable. But then Ishwari is also treating Dev as dispensable in his children's life and actually convincing Sonakshi to do the same. Asha is no different. She is also trying to convince Sonakshi that a father is the most incompetent person to raise the kids.
So is Sonakshi behaving like Asha and Ishwari? Yes.
But Dev is proving them right. I was rooting for Dev to prove them wrong. I wanted them to show that not only a father can be a good caregiver but he can be better than the smug trio (Ishwari, Asha, Sonakshi). But I am disappointed because he is proving them right by taking stupid and irresponsible decision.
Ishwari's condition was that only parent can care for the children. Otherwise, Shubh, Soha and Golu didn't lack babysitters between so many people around.
That's why Dev decided to stay back and raise Shubh and sent Sonakshi to work. Otherwise, he could have hired nanny from day one. Why does even he need to be at home, if nanny is doing everything?
I am disappointed that CVs made him dumb to prove that fathers are useless and incompetent when I know that they are anything but.
Agreed. As usual they are taking a noble concept and trivialities it.
