The Beginning to an End!!!

Hi Everyone,

Last week's schedule for update.

Monday & Tuesday's episode: Update done.

Yesterday' episode: By tomorrow night.

Today's episode: On Saturday

All times are in Toronto time as in EST.

Until then, feel free to write down your thoughts here.

EPISODE: The episode starts with Golu is pleading with Soha: Soha, come on. It will be fun.

Soha doesn't want to do whatever Golu wants her to do.

Golu pleads some more. Soha finally gives in: Okay, I am ready.

Soha pretends to be Sonakshi: Dev, I don't know if I should go to work or not.

Golu pretends to be Bhaiya: What's the problem, Sonakshi? You go handle work, I will manage here.

Soha: But Dev, how can I leave Shubh alone?

Golu: Do you think Sonakshi I can't take care of Shubh?

Soha thinks and sits down on the bed: No Dev. That's not what I meant.

Golu: You go and work. Shubh's dad is here to take care of him. Tsk... You should have told me naa that Shubh is crying. I will just go and get him.

Golu picks up a doll bundled up like a baby: Awww... Papa is here. No need to cry. Calm down. Why is Shubh crying?

Soha: I think because he is hungry.

Golu: I hope he didn't get fever.

Soha: No Dev. You don't know anything. Come on, give him to me.

Golu: No, Sonakshi. Look, I know everything. See, how he stopped crying? You go to office. You will be late. I will take care of him.

Soha: Thank you, Dev. If you weren't there, I couldn't have done it.

Golu: You got a point, Sonakshi. It's okay.

Soha smacks her head: You idiot. Papa doesn't speak like that to Mamma.

Golu: Why did you interrupt me in the middle? This is new naa. So something has to be new. Now you go or you will be late for work.

Soha says: Okay.

She leaves.

Me: Children learn from example, not by lectures. You can teach a kid right or wrong, but if you don't follow the same, they won't learn the lesson.

That's why often kids in an unequal relationship, end up repeating the same pattern when they grow up.

Now that Bhaiya has shown the right way by living it himself, Golu will grow up to be an excellent husband to someone.

What kind of wife Soha will be, I don't know.

Elena is putting hot water bag on Radha's feet. She asks: Mummyji, shall I heat it up some more or is it alright?

Radha says: No beta. It's fine. I am feeling better.

Elena smiles.

Sonakshi comes there with a tray full of spa stuff.

Elena steals a cucumber from the tray.

Radha: Arre, Sonakshi beta. What is this you brought with you?

Sonakshi: Mamiji, this is our pampering tool. And we haven't spend time in a while, so I thought we will gossip a little too.

Radha laughs: You did absolutely right. You came at a right time.

Elena says: Okay, I will get hot water.

She leaves.

Radha asks Sonakshi to sit by her. Sonakshi sits.

Radha: You are absolutely right. Work goes on. But spending time with family and talking to them are also important. But before we start all this, I want to gift you something.

Sonakshi: What, Mamiji?

Radha: Think of it as my blessings. I never understood you completely.

They think about the past when Radha was rude to her.

Radha: But now I know, you and Elena are absolutely perfect and right for this house.

Sonakshi smiles: Mamiji, you...

Radha interrupts: Let me speak. I said the same thing to Elena the other day that you and Elena are very lucky for this house. Very lucky.

She smacks herself: I talk too much. You wait. I have kept something hidden for you.

She takes out a box from under the pillow: Here you go.

Sonakshi: But what is this, Mamiji?

Radha: Take it. Open it and see.

Sonakshi opens the box and it has similar looking gold bangle like Elena.

Sonakshi says: But Mamiji, I can't...

Radha: Why can't you take it? Think of it as my blessings. Look I bought it with a lot of love for you and Elena. Take it please.

Sonakshi smiles: Mamiji... Oh, that means the day we went shopping, then you...

Radha smiles: Yes, I got it then for both of you... Secretly.

Sonakshi smiles: It's very beautiful. Thank you, Mami.

Radha: Why thank you? Okay wait. I will put this on you myself. Give me your hand.

She puts the bangle on her.

Elena comes there with water: Awww... So much love. So cute.

Elena holds her wrist out: Sona, matching matching.

Sonakshi also holds her wrist out and laughs.

Radha asks: Did you like it?

Sonakshi says: Very.

Then she says to Elena: Come on. Now I will put this on you.

They do each other's manicure and spend girly time together.

Me: This was a great scene. Radha now no longer discriminates between her daughter-in-law and Ishwari's daughter-in-law. She bought the same bangle for Elena as she bought for Sonakshi. That means she has stopped thinking like "Me" and "Mine" and started thinking like "We" and "Ours"... She has finally learned the meaning of family.

Golu and Soha are at school.

Golu is worried.

Soha asks: Golu, what are you thinking?

Golu: I am thinking about the test result.

Soha: You will see, you will get very good marks this time.

Golu: I will be happy even if I get only five out of ten. Mamma Papa will be happy that I passed.

Soha: You just want five marks?

Golu: I never got five without cheating before. But now I study like a good boy.

Soha: Then you will get even better marks.

Golu: If I pass this time, I will study even harder next time and get better grades.

Soha smiles.

Just then she sees the other boy is playing video game in the class.

Me: How come no one gave him any dangerous stunt to do? Wasn't he in advanced level?

Soha calls out: Why did you bring cell phone in the class, Mohit?

The boy looks around and feels embarrassed.

Golu says,: Mohit, what are you doing? You know naa that it's not allowed in school? This is very dangerous. Please don't play.

Mohit: What's it to you?

He walks out playing his game.

Golu and Soha run after him.

Golu asks him to stop and try to grab his mobile.

They start fighting.

The other kids follow them.

Mohit: This is my phone. Give it to me.

Other kids ask: Why are you fighting with Mohit?

Golu: Can't you all see, Mohit brought phone to the class. See? This is not allowed.

Mohit says: You are all loser and coward. But I am not. I will play every game and win. I will also complete all tasks.

Golu and Soha think about what they had gone through because of this game.

Mohit says: Now what happened? Why are you silent? You are losers that's why. Loser, loser, you all are loser.

The teacher comes there: What's going on? What are you all doing outside of the class? What are you doing? Go inside?

All the kids leave.

Me: I think Golu should have told the teacher about this.

However, correct me if I am wrong. But wasn't Bhaiya got the gaming mods arrested? Then which game is he playing now?

Bijoy is in his room. Asha comes there: What happened? Are you still angry?

Bijoy: Can't you see?

Asha: You were fine before. What happened suddenly?

Bijoy: Now I should tell you that too?

Asha: Don't tell me. There's no pressure.

Bijoy: Asha, I am angry. You should pacify me. I have that much right at least.

Asha: Will you tell me what is is? What's the need to be so filmy?

Bijoy: You put me in such an awkward position in front of Ronita's mother. Don't I have the right to be angry?

Asha: By the way, who started it?

Bijoy pouts.

Asha,: So much drama? Okay, do you want me to pacify you?

Bijoy: So I have to even say this? You should have done it before.

Asha: And if I don't?

Bijoy: Then I won't talk to you.

Asha: Nothing can be better than this? Okay I will pacify you. Close your eyes.

Bijoy asks. Why?

Asha: Bijoy.

Bijoy closes his eyes: Okay I got it. You were just acting. You got me a gift naa? Give it to me fast.

Asha leaves from there.

Bijoy: Shall I open my eyes, Asha? Okay, opening my eyes.

He opens the eyes after getting no response.

He doesn't see Asha there.

He calls her name. But she is nowhere.

Bijoy: Where did she go? In this house, no one has the right to be angry. There's no one to pacify. Did she get angry at me? It's very difficult to pacify her.

He runs after her.

Me: That's exactly the reality of your house and your life, Bijoy. When Asha gets angry, everyone bends over backward to make her happy. But no one gives a damn about you.

At Bhaiya's room, Sonakshi is watching Bhaiya taking care of Shubh.

Sonakshi asks: Wow, you are looking very happy today.

Bhaiya: Now I will be happy everyday. And Papa is always happy. Mamma doesn't know anything.

Sonakshi: Enough. Mamma knows everything. Mamma knows, Papa doesn't know.

Bhaiya says: You are looking very pretty. What happened? Is there any good news today.?

Sonakshi: No. Actually, I am very happy today. So I felt I should dress well, look better. And there is a good news too. That the man I married, he is world's best husband.

Bhaiya: Really?

Sonakshi: Yes. He is the most loving, caring, handsome, understanding... But most importantly, he is a good man. You take care of everyone and keep everyone happy...

Bhaiya: Where's this coming from? So much praise for me, so much love? Is everytime alright?

Me: Bhaiya, you won people's choice award naa, that's why. Sonakshi's approval and admiration are directly proportionate to what others think. But look at you, you are already conditioned like Bijoy who is so less appreciated for their contribution that when he gets a praise, he can't believe that it came without any strings attached.

Turns out, Sonakshi is ditto Asha.

Sonakshi: No need to worry. I am not asking you for anything. Just check your phone, you will understand it yourself.

Bhaiya checks his phone: What is this? I didn't do anything. I just came from an interview.

Sonakshi: Whatever you said in the interview, you said it from your heart. That's why people were connecting with you. You became their voice. And I am so proud of you Dev. You shouldn't step back.

Bhaiya: Means?

Sonakshi: Means, you should continue what you started. Dev, people are waiting. They expect this from you.

Bhaiya: But I don't know much about parenting. I am learning it myself.

Sonakshi: I know, Dev. But people want this naa that someone should understand them and listen to them. No one can give that answer better than you and you said it yourself that sharing is caring.

Bhaiya is confused.

Me: Sonakshi, it's not necessary to do what other people want you to do. The only thing that matters here is what does Bhaiya want. But you won't understand it.

At school, the teacher is scolding Soha, Golu and Mohit: You don't pay attention to studies at all. You are always up to no good.

Then she turns to the rest of the class: And you. Who told you to go out of the class? Tell me.

One of the students say: Ma'am, Golu and Suhaana ran outside.

The teacher turns to Golu and Suhaana: Golu, Suhaana, I didn't expect this from you. Why did you run outside? Your parents are doing so much for the children of this school and you? You two can't even maintain the discipline of the class.

Suhaana says: Ma'am, it's all Mohit's fault.

The teacher: Shut up. Don't blame others. This time I won't give you your marksheet. I will call your parents and give it to them. I will also complaint to them about you.

Another student speaks up: Sorry, Ma'am. But Suhaana is telling the truth. It's not their fault. Mohit brought cell phone in the class and was playing games in it.

The teacher says: Cell phone?

The student continues: Yes, ma'am. Golu was trying to stop Mohit so that he doesn't play this game. That's why he ran after him.

The teacher says again: Cell phone? Mohit, is she telling the truth? You brought cell phone in the class?

Mohit: Sorry, Ma'am.

The teacher says to Golu and Suhaana: Golu, Suhaana, I am so sorry. I scolded you. You two learned from your mistakes and were trying to make Mohit listen. I am proud of you.

Golu and Suhaana smile.

The teacher says: Now you two go and sit down.

Golu and Suhaana sit down.

Golu and Suhaana show thumbs up to each other.

The teacher says to Mohit: And Mohit, you will go to staff room with me after class, do you understand?

Mohit: Yes, ma'am.

The teacher says: Go and sit.

All kids sit down.

The teacher also sits down: Now kids, you will get your mark sheets.

She says: Suhaana, you got the highest marks. Well done. You got ten out of ten.

Everyone claps.

She gives the paper to Suhaana: Very good.

Suhaana thanks her.

Then the teacher reads out the marks to other kids.

Then it's Golu's turn: Golu, you get eight out of ten.

Everyone claps.

The teacher says: Good. Keep working hard like this.

Golu says: Okay ma'am. Yay!!!

Suhaana says: See? Didn't I say you will get good grades?

Golu says: Now I will work even harder.

Me: There's nothing sweeter than the success which comes after hard work.

The money we earn, the reward we get, the satisfaction we feel after a job well done in the honest way are the sweetest fruit of labour.

Golu has tasted it for the first time and I can tell you, it's addictive.

Once you experience that satisfaction, it pinches on your conscience to go the dishonest way.

The kids are finally on the right track.

At Dixit house, Sonakshi is sitting in her room.

Soha comes there.

Sonakshi asks her to sit. She says: May I ask you something?

Soha says: Yes.

Sonakshi: How did you like this role reversal of Mamma and Papa? Means now Papa stay at home and takes care of you like Mamma used to do before?

Soha: But you used to go work before.

Me: Exactly. What a stupid question, Sonakshi. When were you ever a housewife that you are asking Soha that question?

Sonakshi: But I used to take care of you in the evening naa. And I also used to take you to work sometimes.

Soha: Yes, it used to be fun.

Sonakshi: Now you have experienced both. So who do you like best? Stay home Mamma or Stay home Papa?

Me: Again, stupid question.

Two things, Sonakshi.

1. If you could take Soha to work when she was a child, why couldn't you do the same with Shubh?

In fact, both Bhaiya and you own the building where your joint offices are (which by the way, you also own). So what's stopping you to take Shubh to the office and you and Bhaiya taking turn in caring for him?

If anything, that will be easier than at Soha's time when the office building may have been rented.

2. You were never stay at home Mom. You were always a working mom. So asking Soha what she prefers is like asking someone to compare an imaginary situation with a real, current situation.

If taking care of Soha in the evening and taking her to work are your definition of stay at home mom, then why don't you be that way for Shubh as well? After all that's what your Goddesses (Asha and Ishwari) wanted you to be and you showed every sign to be a willing devotee.

Had you come up with that solution, then Bhaiya could have continued to work and be with his child all day. But instead, you all made it into a choice of one or another when it could have been both.

Soha: I like both.

Sonakshi thinks: Humm...

Soha says: You also leave your work. We will stay together.

Sonakshi: I know. You first tell me how did you like this role reversal?

Soha: I liked it and I didn't like it too.

Sonakshi: Why?

Soha: Papa doesn't cut corners like you.

Sonakshi: Okay. Point noted.

Soha: Papa also makes my braid uneven.

Soha thinks when Bhaiya made her braid: Here you go. Done.

Golu had said: BigCha, one braid is long and one braid is short.

Bhaiya: Oh dear. Now I have to do it again.

Sonakshi says: Okay. I will make your braids from now on. And?

Me: Wait a minute. Didn't you and Bhaiya already decided to do it about a week ago? Then why didn't you do that yet? Why is Bhaiya still handling Soha when you said you will do it and he will get Golu ready?

And what is the purpose of these questions?

Soha: Papa got late dropping us in the school on the first day and was also late picking us up.

Suhaana thinks of that day.

Sonakshi: Now just tell me good things. What do you like?

Suhaana: There are many things I like.

Sonakshi: Like?

Suhaana: Like Papa took away all pressure of study.

Sonakshi: And?

Suhaana: When I fell sick, Papa took care of me a lot. He also fought with our teachers for us. He also encourages us to play sports. Papa...

Sonakshi: Okay, enough enough. Papa, papa, papa... How much will you talk about Papa. You just said so many things about only Papa.

Suhaana: Haan. Mamma, you are getting jealous of Papa. Isn't it?

Me: And she hit the nail on the bull's eye. That was exactly the purpose of these questions. That's why I was wondering why Sonakshi is probing about what Suhaana thinks of this arrangement.

And why she kept asking about what she didn't like and then stopped her when she kept listing what she did like.

But Sonakshi, the point is, children don't care who earns the money. They care about who is there when they need someone.

Which is why, a lot of children are closer to their mother who raises them than their father. It has nothing to do with the mothers being a woman or that somehow women genes are pre-equipped with knowledge of raising children.

It's more to do with the person they count on.

However, if the roles are reversed, and they are counting on their father to be that person, then of course they will be closer to their father.

It doesn't mean that they don't love their mother (just like loving a stay at home mother doesn't mean that they don't love their father), it means that they are used to going to a certain person for their needs.

It's the same way a child goes to his/her nanny if he/she is neglected by two workoholic parents and the nanny is always there with him/her.

That's why balance is so important. So that a child can always come to any parents at the time of need, both need to spend time and take care of the child.

Sonakshi says: Arre, why should I be jealous? Papa has just started doing it. I had been doing it for eight years.

Soha: Okay. Point noted. Did you know why Papa is super dad? Because you are with him, Mamma.

Sonakshi: Perfect.

She hugs Soha.

Me: Yes, perfect way to save the ego and score a hat trick. Soha has great career in diplomacy.

PRECAP: Soha says: Papa, please cut the cake.

Bhaiya says: Shall we cut?

He cuts the cake and Shubh says: Papa.

Everyone gets shocked.

Bhaiya looks at Shubh and then looks at everyone.

Shubh smiles huge.

Bhaiya asks: What did you say?

Everyone gets emotional.

Me: Yep, Shubh's first word is Papa. Because that's the face he sees first thing in the morning and last thing at night, not to mention throughout the day.

That's why a lot of children's first word is Mamma.

Nothing to do with gender, everything to do with love.

NO RULES!!! YAY!!!

Comments

  1. Even the last memory of sonakshi is distasteful. Sona is emotional and saying that he should have said chapathi, maasi, daadi, did I, here also she happy forgot herself and her birth family. So ridiculously selfless this woman is

  2. Not sure what she did. I am not watching the episodes in advance so that my reactions are more honest when I am writing. I will watch the last episode on the weekend and write my post.
