UK Trip - Day 7
Today we woke up early because there were a lot more to see and we are only here until Friday.
We had our breakfast and left at 9 a.m. sharp. But then Greg thought he lost his blue rain jacket. So we had to make our way back because you can't go anywhere without rain jacket.
But suddenly Greg remembered that he had stuffed his rain jacket in his bag. Sure enough. It's there. However, since we turned back anyway and the scenery is so gorgeous, we thought we might as well get some pictures. Make lemonade out of lemons so to speak.
Today we decided to venture to Trotternish portion in the north. Tomorrow we will go to the south end.
We drove to The Old Man of Storr which is a rock formation on the cliff. It was great blue sky and sunshine when we saw from the highway, but turned cloudy and rainy when we got there. So we decided not to climb and instead just waited until the sun came out to take a picture, but didn't hike to the top.
From there we drove to the Kilt Rocks. Today's weather was like bright sunshine, followed by cloudy, followed by pouring rain, followed by sunshine again.
So if you basically wait for 5 mins, you can get sunshine back. Strange, I know.
That's how we waited out the rain and got pictures with sunshines (mostly).
This is a great area and very strongly reminds us of Cabot Trail in Canada. It's not a long drive. But since we stopped at every turn, it took the better part of the day to get through.
One thing we did which was Greg's idea was to start from the east portion of the Isle and end at the west. That way, we are following sunshine.
However, thanks to our newfound friend Donnie, we planned it perfectly. So we mostly saw the Eastern side in the morning, hence got the morning sun and the Western side in the afternoon, hence got the afternoon sun. The weather also mostly cooperated.
We stopped on the way whenever we saw stunning landscapes which was more often than we expected.
Our plan was to end our trip in Neist Point Lighthouse at sunset. So we gulped our dinner and went on our way.
But after climbing half a hill, I realized that the way to the top is totally muddy. I decided to stay put but Greg went on.
After the sunset, we drove back to home for a good night's sleep. Tomorrow another adventure awaits...
